I've not seen all that many of these, but of those I did see, Jodie Comer was incredible in Prima Facie, I saw it in the cinema through NT Live and I've never had an experience like it, the whole cinema was completely silent when it ended, so I can only imagine what the atmosphere in the actual theatre would have been like. Beverley Knight was also incredible in Sylvia so it would be great to see her win for that. Sylvia and Prima Facie are the only ones I've seen out of the nominees though, so I couldn't really say anything about the rest!

Oh wait, that's wrong, I did see Newsies and Matt Cole's choreography was unbelievable!

You mention in the Best New Play section that Prima Facie is home grown, but it was actually first staged in Sydney, Australia. Admittedly, Susie Miller did make changes before its London debut to accommodate certain differences between the British and Australian legal systems.

I really want David Tennant to win best actor in a play (or for Good to win something). Good is such a great play and with everything going on in the world it's such an important play. David is absolutely amazing as John Hadler and he really deserves the recognition. Sadly I don't think he will win and it will go to paul mescal simply because of all the hype

Key wording....."new orchestrations"

@P S Obviously you didnt bother to read the nominations.... it says 'Music and Lyrics by Richard Hawley, Orchestrations by Tom Deering' If it was just for orchestrations, Richard Hawley wouldn't be on that list.

@P S Of course you were... so why are the key words 'New Orchestrations' when its quite clear that it's up for music and lyrics as well. It doesn't say 'Music by Richard Rodgers' under the Oklahome nomination.

I am watching this after the awards have taken place. American here. So happy Mescal won. But, I am surprised Tennent did not win.

29:52 I hate to be that guy but I’ve got to represent the home turf! Prima Facie is technically an Australian import. The production is new but the playwright is an Aussie and the show had a couple of successful productions in Australia before opening in London.

I’m American. Can someone tell me or explain to me what an affiliate theatre is?
@MickeyJoTheatre Жыл бұрын
So it's not the clearest classification but they are essentially a group of theatres within London that would not be considered West End venues (they're usually smaller and / or less central) but pay for an affiliate membership to the Society of London Theatre. Examples include the Charing Cross, Bush, Royal Court upstairs, Soho Theatre

@@MickeyJoTheatre Yes, you both picked the puppetry in Totoro for Choreographer, you both picked the ensemble of For Colored Boys for Supporting Actor in a Play, you both picked Rebecca Fraicknell for Streetcar for Best Director - then you were wrong about I think Sound Design, choosing Prima Facie while Aeron correctly chose Totoro, and Aeron was wrong about Supporting Actress while you chose Vasan for Streetcar.

Muppets Treasure Island was fairly faithful to the novel. Except with more singing and foam rubber than Robert Louis Stevenson included.

Have you seen the EYE-WATERING prices being charged for A Streetcar? How can anyone afford those prices, let alone in a cost of living crisis? How can theatre companies claim to be making theatre more accessible when it charges prices only the elite and wealthy can pay? How is this fair? How is this spreading the joy and love that live theatre can bring by making it an exclusive hobby for the rich and richer? Please make a video on how the theatre community can tackle this issue.
