I would take Lupe over Kendrick in a rap battle. There was a lot of ammo Kendrick had access to for Drake. I don't see Kendrick being able to use those same tactics against Lupe. Plus Lupe was able to beat Royce, so he is battle tested against a strong lyricist.

Y'all really gonna completely skip over the fact Lupe Fiasco absolutely demolished Royce Da 5'9?!? SLR 3 1/2 is maybe the single best diss track of the 2020s (besides maybe MTG), and he LITERALLY FREESTYLED AND RECORDED IT ONLY ONE HOUR after Royce put out his own diss track after working on it for like 2 weeks.....theres a reason even Mos Def backed out immediately when faced with the prospect of battle-rapping Lupe. Even though I feel Kendrick is definitely a better artist and one of the best lyricists in hip-hop in his own right - he simply doesn't approach Lupe when it comes to lyricism. Lupe could absolutely fuck Kendrick up on the mic, though the overall battle IMO would definitely be hard-fought by both sides.

Lupe is way more flexible and skilled in all aspects of the craft and art than people give him credit for. My only thing with Lupe is his ego. Lupe needs his teams ear for music and beats and to bring him down to earth sometimes. If Kendrick and his team go against Lu by himself, there is a chance. But if Lu got the team behind Samurai with him, Lupe might actually win.

Beat selection is Kendrick. Storytelling is Kendrick (not by a crazy amount). Lupe doesn't need to dumb it down. I think Kendrick will try to match his lyricism (punch up) rather Lupe punch down. Also I agree with your assessment of Lupe's ego. Kendrick has access to the best producers in the game. I wouldn't shocked if he teamed up with Alchemist, mustard, and metro again, but I can expect others too like conductor and maybe even Tyler. Lupe sticks to his guys, which is cool but when you got Kendrick teaming up with juggernauts he's gonna have to come better than that

My thoughts: Kendrick would win due to his reach and his ability to be more aggressive with the disses compared to Lupe who's mostly known for his lyrical capabilities Eminem wins because in his prime he was much better as a battle rapper than Jay-Z was in his prime. Big Sean wins because Kendrick and Pusha T brought a lot of damaging information to light so Big Sean could easily reference that stuff Dababy is more street oriented than Lil Baby is plus Dababy is more clear when he raps Toss up between Joey Bada$$ and JID Toss up between A$AP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator 50 Cent wins because he can be ruthless with his trolling and while Lil Wayne is the better rapper overall, he's not the greatest when it comes to disses I don't care about Meek Mill or Jack Harlow Royce Da 5'9 dissed D12 in their prime and still had a solid career afterwards, J. Cole apologized for making a diss track response. There's a difference. Pusha T wins because he could talk about Freddie Gibbs getting a P0rnstar pregnant (similarly to what he said about Drake, although at least Gibbs isn't attracted to minors so that's a W in it's own right)

Kendrick would have the same edge over Pusha T as he has over Lupe. He has a stronger discography, he's more consistent, he's a better song maker, he has bigger reach as he has an established status among hip hop fans and casual fans equally. So even if lyrical battle would be close (I think Kendrick is a better lyricist than Pusha T personally but it would be close), I don't see Pusha winning.

Another thing you forgot is angles what angle does lupe have over kendrick only valid angle is that he is his inspiration or the originator. Pac is not even close to biggie lyrically but bodied him because of angles. I agree on the Kdot vs Lupe conversion I love Kendrick (he's my fav rapper), but Lupe is a better lyricist. Kendrick is a better storyteller and songmaker/writer, though. So, overall creativity, I'd give to Kendrick... But NO ONE IS TOUCHING LUPE WITH LYRICISM 😂😂😂 I think who'd win in that battle will depend on what metric is used to judge. If its the court of public opinion, then I'd favour Kendrick cause I think he'll probably make better songs (and you'd probably need proffessors to breakdown Lupe's bars)
