@@Atlievan Times are different now. If Fleury was in his prime and starting in 65+ games and still keeping his sv% at .915 or above he'd win the Vezina every year. Around the time he was playing he still had to contend with prime Brodeur, Prime Miller and Prime Lundqvist just to name a few when the Pens were competitive but still kinda average after 09. Fleury will probably be one of the best if not the best goalie of his era when he is done. So why not add that last missing trophy into his already huge trophy case

Fleury before coming to Vegas was nothing more than an above average goalie that played on a really good penguins team.

You’re telling me in a league with Hellebyuck, Demko, Blackwood, Khakonen, Ullmark, Peterson, Gibson, Samsonov, Shesterkin, Korpisalo, Hart, Askarov, and Knight; Vasy will have 5 Vezinas? No way man. All of those goalies l listed have Vezina potential, there is a huge crop of goalies ready to take the league by storm in the next 2-5 years

InGoal magazine did an article about this using proprietary data from Clear Sight Analytics. Apparently several NHL clubs use their data, as it appears to be most comprehensive, tracking 32 metrics on every shot to determine quality and likelihood of scoring. Anyway, CSA stats have Fluery as a clear front runner with Vasy in second.

As a supporter of Minnesota wild I get to watch a lot of hockey out west. And I must say I get quite nervous every time that Minnesota plays Las Vegas, because I know who’s lurking in net. He’s always a wildcard when you play him because you never know if he’s gunna pull of some crazy saves to steal the game.

I've said it so many times. Vassy is hands down the best goalie in the NHL. And its because he's not a flashy goalie that makes a ton of highlight reel saves. He's the Gretzky of the net. He just has such an absurd IQ in the net. And is flawlessly positioned.

If Price was on a team like Tampa or Vegas, he would be the best goalie in the league for a very long time. The fact the players think he’s the best and he has played for the Canadiens mediocre teams for years is a testament of how good he really is.

It has to be Flower. A man of his stature and accolades in his professional career who has not won at least one league best goalie award? Preposterous!!! And not to mention Flower is 36 and he is still performing at such a high level! Hasek won his last Vezina at 36, Tim Thomas won his last Vezina at 36, Rinne won his when he was 35 going on to 36. Amazing goalies have a habit of winning the Vezina at that age. Fleury will be the next one for sure.

Bobrovsky has the edge in high danger save pct, I'm not a huge advanced stat guy but this one seems more significant than any other goalie stats, unless you went with a holistic Wins approach. He also has more HD shots against. I have only watched a single Panthers game this season but it might indicate the team plays more conservative defense for Driedger.

I don't track advanced stats but I heard the announcers say a few weeks ago during the Canucks game that Demko has faced the most high danger chances of any goalie this year. I do think that Bob and other goalies on less defensive teams are better than their numbers show. I think Driedger got some easier games over Bob also but I think it was due to the teams being played rather than Panthers playing different defensively.

I think the Panthers are gonna get a lot of calls over Driedger leading up to the expansion draft. Imagine if they won the cup and then without being able to replace him with any similar goaltending options they missed the playoffs next year.

The Vezina is Vasilevskiy's to lose and deservedly so the only thing that I would like to see is Varlamov stay in the conversation, he deserves the recognition for his last 2 years of work. Considering how Roy destroyed this guy in Colorado his redemption has been incredible, Roy should never see a head coaching spot ever again.

Kähkönen is on par with Varlamov in terms of stats as a rookie. Either Fleury or Vasy will probably win it, but I'd sure love to see them fall off a bit and Kähkönen to improve just so he could get the double.

Hate to play the homer here but you know hockey well enough to know Price has been getting shitty defensive play for years (lots of 2 on 1s, scoring chances) from his team so not sure I agree about him being a middling option at G for years. With that being said this year he's just not cutting it.
