To be fair, only one person made a mistake. Boba nominated Ben when there was two evil players in the game, so with only five players left they would end up in a stalemate and neither would die - giving the Imp the final kill needed. Duncan jumping in as the fourth vote was the most reasonable thing he could be at that point, since their last chance was that Boba was somehow correct in suspecting Ben.

It was a mistake for Ben to hold onto the secrecy of his role though. Yeah, it would've been pretty detrimental to the innocents for him to declare his role, but keeping it secret secured their loss.

Hope you play more of this. A couple of notes for Lewis as the Storyteller, though. If you want to play following the rules of the game, you should not have informed Bouphe that she gambled incorrectly. The demon could have killed her in the night or something else could have happened and that way once she awoke she would not know if she died because she gambled or because of something else. It's important to keep track of when different characters act in the night order. Additionally, dead people still have a one time vote. Since this is a mechanic of the game, the game was called off too early, in reality the evil team could have still lost. Lastly, and I don't know if they were aware and it just got cut in the edit like the bluffs were, but the Imp can kill itself and pass off its powers to a minion, which could have been a good play by Daf.

Good on you for being nice but they got so much wrong here it’s practically a different game. They got the win condition wrong since they ended the game with 4 people left alive. They didn’t assign the town in a circle which effects certain players abilities. Multiple times players misunderstand the rules publicly and Lewis doesn’t help them out as story teller. It’s just a real low effort attempt

Came here to give my opinion on this too, while I love that the Yogs are finally playing this game, it was a little off the mark. Theres a reason this game stands alone when it comes to the new age of social deduction games and its because the rules are so well made! Still though, it was a nice taste and hopefully they play more and gain a further understanding of the rules as they go, you have to remember, we're all likely longtime fans of the game while a lot of these guys probably have only played a couple of games. Even still, an interesting watch and a commendable attempt!

Well, the win condition is the demon and one good player are left as the last players and there were four alive when Lewis decided it was over. In a real game the good and dead would have voted Daff out after the fool was proven and the drunk was killed.

The lunatic is even more fun, that player thinks they are the demon but the actual demon know who they are and who they try to kill.... The Lunatic is on the good team even though they think they are on the bad, their bluffs are fake (or could be real) and they might get the name of the real minions (who will be confused) or they could be told there is a poppy grower in play. It is total chaos. :)

You've got the Drunk that thinks they're useful to town, the Lunatic that thinks they're the big bad, and the Marionette that thinks they're useful to town but actually they're a Minion sitting by their Demon. There's so much fun to be had with "You think..." characters in this wonderful game. The Amnesiac can be fun too, since their ability is literally anything. You can create a "You think..." ability for them (though should also leave a hint somewhere so it's guessable).

lewis revealing that bouphe was the gambler with the "fuzzy dice" thing is something he really needs to avoid spoiling in the future. The others did not even have to question if she was really the gambler or not.

The ST also should not have revealed that Bouphe died to her own ability. The storyteller is supposed to acknowledge the player's choice then put the gambler back to sleep, and the Gambler only finds out whether they were right or wrong if they are announced to be dead in the morning. I'm also of the opinion that nothing from Bad Moon Rising should have been included if they were going to not allow dead votes. Dead votes are an essential part of Blood on the Clocktower, and of the Bad Moon Rising script in particular because it's not uncommon to have 2-4 deaths in a single night in BMR.

There doesn't seem to be a way for the Imp to mask as another player, and short of Yogs-tier plays the innocents have a massive advantage. @@gurigura4457 Dead players only have a single vote, and once they use it, it's gone, and whether or not a player was good or evil is not announced when they've died. Also, while the minion they used, the Scarlet Woman, is a more passive one, there are minions that take a more active role in messing with the good team. The Poisoner can make abilities fail or yield false info, the Spy literally sees everybody's roles every night, the Cerenovus can force a player to bluff a different role or be executed, and the Devil's Advocate can save the demon from execution. It's surprisingly balanced as far as social deduction games go.

I love Blood on the Clocktower, while their grasp of the rules is not amazing it'd love to see more of this One of the biggest things they seemed to miss is the ability for the dead to vote once the rest of the game amd that evil only win if there's two people left alive, one of which is the demon It also probably would bave been better if they were playing the Trouble Brewing script if characters as it's very balanced and good for newer players They also could have used one of the online tools for playing Blood on the Clocktower, such as the free Townsquare or the paid offlical tool (which are actually made by the same person)

The Imp, knowing every role, will very likely believe them and not try killing them, making the 2nd life completely worthless. Post edit: Just finish watching, it was a very fun first run, i was confused since lewis didn't said on camera the 3 roles that Daf could bluff as, but i see he was indeed given the roles, the only problem i got is that the dead CAN still vote once after dying and because lewis didn't say that the game ended way faster, idk if lewis knows about that or decided to not give the ability to vote to the dead, in the end it was fun i hope they do another episode of this, i want to see them improve in the game.

Lots of little errors in this game. Dead votes mean the game didn't end when Duncan died, for example, they could have executed Daff the next day. Also, Daff should have known that Osie was his minion from the start. Overall, a good game though very funny to watch.

!!! I've enjoyed watching NRB playing this game so much so it's amazing to see yogscast play a game of blood on the clock tower! It's such a complex game in comparison to werewolf imo. So much more room for deep seeded deceit and really difficult to unfurl and untangle the mystery as an innocent. Typically a game will include extra roles and extra possible demons to throw the innocents and evils off of exactly what's going on in the game and the final decisions for random killings etc are all made by the game master for storytelling and balance purposes. It makes it so much juicier and it feels so much more amazing when innocents win due to the amounts of obstacles in their way

Whilst I’m so happy that the game is getting it’s time in the spotlight and that this video depicted many of the fun aspects of Blood on the Clocktower, it did miss out on a lot! It missed out on many rules, interactions and the element of letting the dead interact beyond the grave, which elevates the game beyond what can be seen in this video. I’d really urge that viewers head to The Pandemonium Institute to see what an accurate and real game of Blood on the Clocktower is like, and even head to No Rolls Barred for real life games! And once you’ve done that, head over to PattersTTV and you’ll stay hooked! I do urge that Yogscast revisit this game, with accurate rules, interactions and seating arrangements. You’ll have an even better time playing and it makes it even easier for viewers to follow along!

I'm more inclined to think that it is them misreading "Ghosts cannot nominate". Especially as my own experience is that evil just wins per default in smaller groups when ghostvotes arent involved as town has much less time to separate the truths from the lies. Though lets be honest. Its probably their first time playing, Bouphe and Ben were still phenomenal. Boba is just chaotic evil as usual.

@@DrDarkheart For smaller player counts like this (8 players is actually quite small for Blood on the Clocktower, believe it or not), dead votes are even more essential. Especially if you're including roles from Bad Moon Rising like the Gambler and the Grandmother. Death is too frequent, and the game can swing to evil very fast because of how many good players can die in a single night.

That end vote was terrible. Ben nominated Daf and he got 3 votes with 5 people left... So, Boba nominating Ben is saying "This vote if it were to succeed means Ben is innocent due someone switching their votes."... Meaning why even vote him??? If he actually gets voted out that just means the game instantly ends.

I think the ghosts could’ve voted (only once tho) would’ve been interesting to see if that would’ve made a difference. They were a little quiet after dying even though they are allowed to talk (at least Sarah and Briony were, Bouphe was active in the discussions)

This is so weird. I've just recently started watching Blood on the Clocktower videos here on KZbin. I started about a week ago and it's appearently been around for a little while and now Yogscast is playing it. They are however playing a simplified version of it. In the normal game, there's multiple possible demons and they have to figure out which one of them it is. The demons also normally have multiple minions that help them with the mission to get rid of the townspeople and not just one. However the Imp and the Scarlet Woman is a great pairing as if the Imp dies either by execution or by their own hand, the Scarlet Woman becomes the new demon.

They didn't simplify the roles in the game from BoTC, they were just running the Trouble Brewing script. Trouble Brewing is the recommended script for new groups, and it does only include the imp as a possible demon. Got to start with the basics before throwing all the variations into the mix.

That would be cool but Yogs apparently turned down Dady Ben's offer to be the Storyteller for a game with the excuse that it's hard to organize when they'll play and they didn't want to "mess him about." Tbh, the Yogs email just sounded to me like they're not really interested in playing it as intended and just wanted to crank out some quick content. I was kind of disappointed in their response. Honestly, I hope the two BotC vids Yogs already recorded get enough views to interest them in making more but enough criticism that they decide to play it correctly and bring in a ST who knows how to run the game properly because I think it could be really fun to see the personalities here actually play the game rather than... whatever this was.

@@xa5150 Drunk and Poisoned are exactly the same, the main distinction is evil poisons, good drunks. Both cause abilities with a mechanical effect to fail and information might be false. The only time the Storyteller has to lie to a player is if a Vortox is in play, as part of the Vortox's ability reads "townsfolk abilities yield false info."

Enjoyable game to watch. I always love seeing people's first games. (Looks like maybe not first game for Ben and Duncan?) *Important points:* *1.* Gambler is not told anything. They don't know whether they gambled correctly or not. Maybe they gamble wrong, but an Innkeeper protects them and they live. Maybe they gamble wrong, but they're also targeted by the Demon. Maybe they're the Drunk (or drunk/poisoned) and they can't die. *2.* The vote is similar to a clockhand going around a clock with the Storyteller holding their arm out and going in a circle and if someone has their hand up as it passes, they audibly count it. This is usually simulated online by having a chat order and you take vote as you go down the list (the official and 'unofficial' tool, both designed by the same person, are good at simulating this). Why it's important is bluffing. You can pretend to want to vote and drop your hand at the last second or inversely throw up a vote at the last second. The way we did this in Ye Olden Times over Discord voice was to just quickly go down one by one and have people in chat give a yes/no in order they are in the chat, starting with the person after the one being nominated and wrapping around. *3.* I'm not sure why the game was called on final 4. Every dead person has one ghost vote, and it looked like two of them were spent on Ben (Bouphe and Duncan) and Ben and whomever Daf kills would still have one vote (i.e. that's 4 votes good versus 2 evil). The Scarlet Woman cannot trigger when there's less than 5 people alive, so he wouldn't be saved if town went for him that day. They could still execute Daf and win on final 4 OR play it safe and wait for him to kill down to final 3 and choose how to vote then (I assume he'd leave Osie alive and maybe Boba, which they could definitely frame as a Demon if she outs as Ravenkeeper--which is a convenient Imp bluff.)

their understanding of the rules was mostly fine but lewis missed out/screwed up so many rules. he forgot about ghost votes, told bouphe how she died, didnt tell daf who his partner was, and told daf who he killed (though he thought the game was over at that point so fair on that one)

Looking up the roles online, I think they played the Imp wrongly. The web page says the Imp knows who their minion is. The Imp can kill ITSELF at night to pass the torch to the minion. And it says the Imp know 3 roles that aren't in the game, but Louis said he knew "all the roles that are in" - that's way more information.

Man, they played a LOT of the game wrong. They ignored rules, strats, game stages, the win condition... This wasn't BotC. It was a loose game of "Werewolf" with a slight BotC theme. I'm hoping they actually read the rules and learn how to play before the next one. Or, better yet, bring in an actual Storyteller to run the game bc Lewis doesn't understand the rules or the role of the Storyteller. Unfortunately, when Daddy Ben (one of the creators of the game and the ST at No Roles Barred) offered to run a game for them, Lewis turned him down. My read of Lewis's email makes me think Yogs isn't interested in actually playing the game as much as just cranking a couple episodes out as quick content with the BotC name attached.
