My son sang this with just piano a few years back when he was still in high school. You see he was made fun of because he suffered from a nervous tic disorder by some. He found music as his therapy and went on stage at an open mic talent show and performed this song. No one knew just how talented a singer he was until that performance. He brought down the house that night. Standing ovation and not a dry eye in the place; students, teachers, adults. That one performance of this song changed his life forever and started a movement of acceptance of what makes us different from one another. He has gone on to compose, direct and perform in college and if well known and respected for his talents. It is an amazing thing how music can truly touch the soul and make a difference that can ripple through the masses.

My sister showed me this video at a time in my life that I was ready for it all to be over. I was in my room, gun to my head, ready to pull the trigger. That's when she knocked my door and just had to show me this artist and song that she had just found. She didn't know it but she saved my life that day. I got rid of the gun a few days later and have since gotten help. She died a few years later of a stroke, but now every time I hear this song it reminds me of what she did and this song did for me and it inspires me to live life the best I can because she was robbed of that chance. Thanks Emily and thank you Jessie J. RIP Emily

I can’t imagine your struggles and pain. Then the very person that saved your life lost her life shortly after. RIP Emily. I nursed for 18 years and I’m going to say what used to tell my patients that admitted with the similar thing. Living is the hardest thing we will do, however it’s also the best thing we would do. I’m terminally ill. That hasn’t stopped me from aiming for another goal in my life. Because I’m also a scientist, my next adventure is to do my teacher training next year; secondary school mathematics and science. Life can me a bitch. Find your centre and fight back. I wish you good luck going ahead. Your glory days are yet to come. Jessie J is one of my inspirations too.

She is putting her heart and soul into singing this song. It's a sad to say that people care more of what you look like, then who you are in the inside. The first time I heard this song, I was in a dark place, I listen to covers of this song. You can feel and hear the pain in their voices. You are perfect the way you are Jessie, and you showed me that. I'm perfect the way I am. Don't change for anyone.

I stare at my reflection in the mirror Why am I doing this to myself? Losing my mind on a tiny error I nearly left the real me on the shelf No, no, no, no Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising Just be true to who you are (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) Brushing my hair, do I look perfect? I forgot what to do to fit the mold The more I try, the less it's working 'Cause everything inside me screams "No, no, no, no, no, no, no!" Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising There's nothing wrong with who you are Yes, no's, ego's Fake shows like, woah Just go and leave me alone Real talk, real life, good luck, good night With a smile That's my home, yeah That's my home No, no, no, no, no Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising Just be true to who you are Yeah, yeah

God! Years back i used to watch this at least twice a day. I learned and memorized, basically just carved every word she says before and after the song, every note she sings, breaths she takes, mimics she makes and other things into my brain (naturally). When i watch this now i remember how lonely i was back then(and i still am), how this song especially this live version made me feel and think, helped me too. And it's still helping to deal with the same or different new problems. I realize again that struggle is never over. The reasons of struggle may change but the struggle itself never changes or stops for none of us. That's why we're always gonna need that beatiful, angelic, strong masterpiece in our lives. Thank you, Jess.

Jessie, I know you won't be able to read this but I just wanted you to know that this song is so beautiful and this inspired me in so many levels. This brought me to tears and made me think of my worth; that I am not a loser nor a failure. I'm just lost because I didn't know who I was and I did not know what I was capable of. This song is indeed very powerful. I love you and your music Jessie. - An Avid Fan from the Philippines.

OMG! She is REALLY underrated. She is so incredible its insane. She so isn't at the top of the Music industry, but then again Im glad she's not in the mainstream. Because we need to be able to distinguish between pure talent plus real musicians and ppl who make Music for fame and commercial purposes 'cause they cant actually make real Music. Who gives a shit about the fame and awards as long as the Music is real and touches people's hearts. :')

2022 May and this song is STILL saving me.. She said that "I hope this song will save a lot of people". Wherever she is, I want her to know that it saved me and it's still saving me... Her gift is real. Her gift is rare. Her gift is powerful and ...she truly was born to write music to heal the world.

This girl is the real deal, right now. Forget Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry... if you're into commercial pop, you should at least seek the best it has to offer. And the best pop has to offer in 2014 is Jessie J.

jessie j and sia are the only singers, who know how to use their voices properly and convey emotion at the same time. F*** Beyonce, these two are the real goddesses

I have been replaying this song for the past 20 minutes and I must say it's become a favorite. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression recently and up till now I have had no outlet for it, I take it out on myself..It literally suffocates you, it's not a joke and it is a real illness ...When I first heard this song I didn't really listen to it until I heard #jillianjensen sing it again on x factor. I love the passion she uses to emphasize certain areas of the song that people really need to listen to like 3:17-3:45. That's where you feel it and see it, she is speaking to you when she does that

+halley martin Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Can I recommend a book called 'Self Help for your Nerves' by Dr Claire Weekes? It's quite old (like it has a chapter about electro-shock therapy! - skip it) but it's got some principles in it, on the first few pages that pretty much cured me of anxiety and depression. It might not have the same impact for you, but I can guarantee that it will be worth your time reading...
