Aurora started playing music and writing songs (in Norwegian) when she was 6, and then in English when she was 9. She is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. Her live performances are extraordinary. She is what you call a true emphat, very close to nature and down to earth, highly talented and highly intelligent, always positive and funny. She really does talk to her fans, whom she calls warriors and wierdos. She is an absolute free spirit. In the video (background is her homeland), she was 17-18 years old. Now she is 24. There is almost no song of her that I do not love. I have 64 in my playlist including unpublished ones. Aurora's movements are partly not rehearsed in their concerts. She is introverted and she shows her feelings through involuntary body movements. You can say that she doesn't dance to the music. Her music dances with her. See hates backtracks, that's why she has a backround singer. Everything about her and her music is real. You get what you see, whether on stage or elsewhere. I'm a 54 year old crusty prog rocker and my daughter introduced me to Aurora- 3 weeks ago we went to see her in concert in London and I was so struck by her beauty and love for everyone there. A staggering performance full of truth, light and wonder. You can't help but fall in love with her- everybody was living their best life that night and it was wonderful.

Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 24 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, some of her videos - like this one - are mini-masterpieces as well. But she is best when performing live. As good as her studio releases are, her live performances bring everything to a whole other level. She is totally unique and hard to put in any category. She's just Aurora. Aurora is now almost 25 but she performed this version of Runaway at around age 19. She wrote Runaway aged 11. Yes, her features, and many of her gestures here are very childlike - which perhaps fits with the age it was written? Or maybe just her own quirky style. Already has a large back catalogue of original work. Declines to be fitted into any specific style / genre - but she has mentioned she was influenced by artists like Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Enya, and The Chemical Brothers, amongst many others. An interesting original creative artist, lovely voice, and a developing career worth watching. Thanks for this reaction.

She wrote this song when was 11. She is 24 but this song have some years (I think it was released 6 years ago or so). You mentioned Billy Eilish: Aurora performing this song was her as one of her main inspirations to go into music. Anyway Aurora is a great and unique artist and composer. She has great voice and in my opinion has gift to emotionally connect herself with songs and pass this emotions on listeners. Also she has interesting body/hand expressions during performances (for some at first it can be a little strange, but for me it is another cool thing). She has many great songs but would recommend to choose something from: - Lucky which she made when was 9 old (live from Nidarasdomen), - "Seed" (official video), Murder Song (Nobel Prize Concert), - All is Soft Inside or Churchyard (KEXP), - Running with Wolves (official video or live f.e. in Pandora Session), - Winter Bird (Nidarasdomen or official video).

Her name is Aurora Aksnes. She is a very unique artist from Norway. She will be 25 in June. You definitely should continue with her music. She sings many genres and has a ton of great songs. Check out the video for "The Seed". And, I think she was probably 19 or so in this video. This is one of her first songs. She does not really fit any genre. Some call her alternative, but she sings a lot of genres. You can't put her in a box. And she is funny and quirky as hell in interviews. She is a must see for sure

Ah, I've been waiting for this video to come out from the moment you mentioned you had her on your list, last week. She's one of those rare artists who can write deep, thought provoking, sad or inspirational lyrics and wrap them all in a blanket of amazingly beautiful song and music. As others have pointed out in the comments, she wrote "Runaway" when she was 11 years old (and English not being her native language). I'd recommend you have a look at "Lucky" Live in Nidarosdomen (the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway). A song she wrote when she was just 9 years old.

I strongly recommend you watch some of their live performances. Especially "Lucky" live at the Nidarosdomen, "It Happened Quiet" live at The Current, "Through The Eyes Of a Child" live at Nidarosdomen and "Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)" at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. What makes her live performances so impressive is that she doesn't just sing her songs, but lives them with every fibre of her body and conveys that through her expressive body language, while she still manages to sound just as clear as she does in her music videos. :)

Great reaction! Dont know if you guys has seen Frozen 2, but Aurora was the voice calling out to Elsa both in the movie and in the song Into the unknown. Her vocals are amazing! She was 16 when she made this music video. It is an original song as most of the recordings she has made. She started composing when she was 8 years old and is a self taught pianist. She is from Norway. You should hear her live Honda concert to get a true feel of her range. I recommend "Black Water Lillie's". You will be amazed by the ease of her vocal range.

That’s just the very beginning of a bottomless rabbit hole of magnificence from this extraordinary young woman, but I promise those two performances will change your life. She’s very prolific and there are many, many songs to explore but I highly recommend starting with those two. Wherever possible, stick with her live performances.
