The guy that kicked it off was John "Ecstasy" Fletcher (the guy in the hat). He just passed away before the end of 2020. RIP Ecstasy, also Shabadoo (80s street dancer) and MF Doom.

Takes me back- I grew up listening to this music + LOVIN breakdancing in the 80’s. It was a wonderful time: MJ, Prince, + Madonna all broke with amazing albums around the same time + most great bands were either just breaking or in their prime. The same reaction in 84 when I was 14 years old, hearing it for the first time. Seen Whodini many times in concert back in the 80s. Always looked up to them as much as Run DMC. They never got the props they deserved. Escape and Back In Black are classic Hip Hop albums. Still have the albums and 12-inch singles in the collection today. Keep doing your thing fellas.

Most blk ppl that grew up in the hood know rappers delight because it was mainly played on the stations we listened to, there were a lot of rappers that ppl don't know about that we grew up on, because that's what we were listening to besides the R&B music. I mean a lot of rappers, and almost everyone wanted to be a rapper, it was our culture and we loved it
