They should let Thames Water fail and take it back under public ownership
@meglobob921755 минут бұрын
Yes, they have paid out billions to shareholders. Regulator should have just raised prices by inflation and any that go bust, Labour can take back into public ownership at a rock bottom bargain price. Then water companies can be run properly for there customers.

@meglobob9217 The shareholders who took out most of the money got out several years ago. They got the money and their directors got their bonuses. The mess has been left with the present owners and if they decide to stop throwing good money after bad that mess will be left with the tax payer. Not a happy outcome either way - and worse if it has to come into the public sector because every pound put into Thames Water is one less pound being spent on something else.

Two observations: 1) It's the private sector, so why can't we shop around? 2) Why have we been obsessed with Thames and Southern when this chart shows they've been amongst the cheapest? And why aren't Anglian and Dwr Cymru being commented on - already amongst the most expensive and rising to stay amongst the most expensive?
