In this episode of Creepy Bad Endings, I talk about a few Game Overs that creeped me, for reasons that might make no sense to anyone but myself, though I'll try to explain it...
Bad endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world, something happens that, at best, creates a bittersweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win, despite everything that happened throughout your adventure. Bad endings don't give you any second chances, you screwed things up for everyone and you must pay dearly...

9:10 I LOVE how it goes from the Mom's blood curling screams then cuts to the son just peacefully making some burgers... And then she nags the son over how messy the house is. XD She LITERALLY cursed her own son with her dying breath.

Git, you have to try this one game called "Irisu Syndrome". It's an arcade-style physics puzzle where, as part of an aesthetic choice, the game doesn't communicate much with the player, and you can only tell how well you are doing if you already know how it works, so if you go in blind, you might never even realize that there's multiple endings, as the worst one gives enough closure to be thought of as the only one possible, that the characters are flat the tropes are played straight. But as you progress, hidden depths are revealed for some of the characters and their situation. People tend to compare it to Doki Doki Literature Club, which it was in fact an inspiration for.

The deaths in the first Sims game were very creepy in general. The deaths became more cartoony as the series went on, but some deaths are still creepy as feck, such as dying from hail in Sims 2 and dying from time paradox sickness in Sims 3.

Your discussion on The Sims takes me back when I used to play Roller Coaster Tycoon. That game and its sequel allowed the player to kill the guests by either drowning them or having the rides they go on crash. No instant game overs there for doing so, though.

The only "game over" in RCT is if you failed your objective in a scenario, but you could still play the park and build it up however you pleased. But since you failed the objective, the logical thing would be to ditch the failed attempt and start fresh. In The Sims... yea, it's a lot less forgiving if all of your Sims or just the one Sim die

"Is he gonna mention the death enemy? Aw, he should've mentioned the death enemy." (He showed it though) I keep expecting the Gauntlet voice to tell me I got mail. And also imagine if you heard "Elf is about to die" in the Legend of Zelda games, instead of that low health beep on a continuous loop. As for someone who played The Sims 3 for almost a decade (as you may have guessed from the pfp), I can confirm that yes, getting the EPs/SPs/Store items is much like getting pokemon (and expensive as all hell). Also I'd like to know if Git's brother would ever make a guest appearance in one of his videos.

Well, i never kill Sims on purpose, unless it’s townies i really don’t like or for the Golddigger Lifetime Wish (albeit with Death Flowers, so they’ll be revived). However, i did once got my favourite Sim killed in The Sims 3 by the Philosophers Stone, which can turn Sims into gold if you’re unlucky. Thankfully, i didn’t lose much progress, since i played another save file earlier where i succeeded on the first try. Also, i think The Sims 3 has the creepiest death because of the music that plays during it.

I have to say, I agree with the game over in the Sims being creepy, but I do have some reasons why I think so that came from when I was playing the original game as a kid. I've only had two sims die when I played it, both by accident and both easily preventable. The first was a story mode death, where the stove caught fire and the player character ended up burning. I had wanted to wait for the in-game fire department to arrive, but my cousin had pointed out that there is an option to attempt to put out the fire yourself. I don't remember if she convinced me to try it or if she took the controller and did it anyway, but long story short the sim tries to put out the fire, catches alight when the fire is almost out and the fire department has already arrived, and then the fire department let him burn and leave him behind. Then Death shows up and I start bawling my eyes out. To be entirely fair to the game, I had some stuff going on at the time and the unintentional death just so happened to trigger something in my brain, but it still wasn't a fun experience. It is also why I never allow sims near a stove or a grill, just in case. The second was due to a complete lack of critical thinking on my part. It was in sandbox mode, and I was playing with a family of a mom, a dad, and a daughter. I had invited the neighbors over for a party, and then somehow some of the sims end up getting stuck in the bathroom and cannot get out because they keep getting in each other's way. For some reason, I never thought to do something like going into build mode and selling the walls, and the daughter ends up starving to death. Even more creepy for me was that the school bus came to pick her up even after she died (or maybe slightly before, it's a little fuzzy), and then the game gives me a message about how if she misses school too much she'll be expelled. It gave me the impression of being trapped and unable to do anything, and the world outside just not understanding that fact nor that things may have changed since they don't even know what's going on. She's already dead, why are you mad at me for not sending her to school? Anyway, that's the end of my rambling. If you read through all of this... hello, how's your day going? Good? Bad? And if you have any experiences with the Sims, or gaming in general, that you found personally creepy, feel free to share.

Symphony of the Night always has a nice creepy game over voice/noise. Metroid Prime 2 has probably one of the most disturbing combined with the visuals. I mean, you're desperately forging through an endless maze of savage monsters, finally stumbling on a crucial haunch of meat or flask of mead to sustain yourself, and you 'accidentally' destroy it? What did you expect the narrator to sound like? Especially if it's two-player and your partner Needs Food Badly?! Penny Arcade did a strip on that too.

How many deaths are there in the Sims games and their corresponding expansion packs? I think that could make up another entire Creepy Bad Endings video. Hell, in the Sims 2, you can kill a sim (I think the university expansion pack, specifically) , and then bring them back as a zombie who lives a hellish existence and never ages!

What has stuck with me personally when thinking about creepy or scary moments, which shouldn't be, is the game over screen of Lady Sia. When I was a kid, maybe just 5 or 6 years old, it always scared me so much to see that. When she was just sitting there and crying. I used to run out of the room when going game over so I wouldn't have to see that. Kind of funny though when I think about it now.

Honestly, I don't even need to do the "Sonic in the Pool" test to determine my soul's purity, because one incident regarding the Sims definitely put me in the pure category. For context, when I was a young lad, I was pretty much just as much of a gamer as I am now, and my Parents had physical copies of The Sims 2 and it's expansions. Of course, I was given permission to play it, and I eagerly built up a family based on my IRL family, and I grew attached. However, the fun would soon come to an end. One day, as I was surveying my lovely little community, I noticed a "Bulldoze" option. I was still a very young kid, so I had no idea what the button did. Out of curiousity, I used it. Of course, you know what they say: "Curiosity Killed the Cat", and I immediately regretted it when I saw the family I had grown attached to be deleted right before my eyes as the house that contained them was demolished. Panicking, I tried to figure out something to restore the now long gone family I had built up over the course of my playthrough, and in the end, I ended up destroying every last house in the neighborhood. Ever since that day, I grew a heavy distaste for The Sims, purely because of what could technically be classified as a "traumatic event". I've had some desires on coming back to the game and starting anew, but the thought of seeing my Sims die yet again, coupled with the fact that tons of people continuously boast about killing their sims in the most sadistic ways possible turned me away from the idea.

I might’ve already mentioned this years ago on your episode on Comix Zone but The Ooze has the creepiest game over screen from any game I’ve seen or played. Prime 2: it feels as though Samus is being rushed to a emergency room of a hospital only to for her to flatline. Prime 3: Version 1: the screen covers in blood Version 2 (my opinion the creepiest one): The Phazon in her body over takes her changing her entire body into Dark Samus(Metroid Prime) dooming the galaxy. Let me tell you about a recent one I had a few years back, Robinson's Requiem. So imagine this, you were exiled to survive on this harsh alien planet infested with monsters and criminals. You die brutally then you get a gameover screen with your head, sometimes turning into a skull even, trapped in hell surrounded by other skulls while bad ending like music plays. You die and go to hell, what did your character do to deserve this? I think this is the worst game over tbh, I was startled when I first saw it. There is a death reel for all the ways to die, it's interesting. There was an even more obscure sequel to this game, called Deus. Death leads to hell again but this time you're a skeleton with rad cap sitting with a bunch of other skeletons in big fancy thrones, then skeleton you laughs before it fades to black. More strange then creepy this time.

Sounds kind of like Space Quest 3. You can die in some pretty horrific ways in that game. There's one right at the start where you can fall slightly, and your skull gets smashed open. It's amazing in its own way to see this perception of Sims, as for classic PC players the traditional way to kill sims is by drowning them in a pool. There also was a hamster of doom which for some reason had an extra high chance to pretty much instakill any of your sim

Maybe you should cover the ending of how to survive (the first game) as there are no more than one endings but even tho it's an arcade styled (not too complicated nor too long) it's ending gives you the creeps lol.

I'd have to say that for me the 3 would be the ending of Chrono Trigger where you lose to rhe final boss, the bad ending of the original (1994) XCOM, and the bad ending of Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra. Probably others but I can't remember what the games were, only the endings themselves.

I had a save file in The Sims' Get A Life mode on PS2 in the last level where I had missed work too much already to try and grind for skills so missing another one meant loss of my job and an immediate game over. I was doing well until I made a hard save a few seconds before my Sim's bladder started to reach critical mass without me noticing and my car pool was already waiting for me. The result was that I could either futilely waddle directly outside to the car pool as my Sim desperately tried to prevent the dam from bursting only to miss it and net me a game over, or attempt to detour to the toilet which would take so long that it would leave while I was still sitting on the throne and net me a game over. That's when I learned to make multiple save files. Don't be like younger me; don't softlock yourself into the piss ending.

Theme Park on Snes will always be No. 1 for me. When I first saw the game over screen, my heart stopped and I ran to my mom with tears in my eyes, saying I went bankrupt in Theme Park. She also played the game and knew what the screen looks like. I was used to fade to black, sad short song, white written "Game Over" text and that's it. Then came Theme Park... A screen in a FAMILY FRIENDLY game, where you build your theme park and then you go bankrupt and the (you) character is trying to commide suicide. What the actual bananas in england went wrong here?!?! Okay, today I know that it was dark humour, but this doesn't count for everyone. Not all persons who played that game can relate that screen to a dark humoures joke of being bankrupt. I was like 8-9 years old and it haunted me for several years. Maybe in england they laugh about something absurd like this, but I am from Germany and like I wrote before, wasn't used to that kind of game over screen. I really like your game over/bad/creepy endings in videogames videos and I am always interested what other game overs in other games looked like that passed me by. Thank you so much and now I have a question more like a suggestion, to be honest. Moments that shock you. My suggestion would Super Smash Bros. Melee. When you get the challenger approaching screen that scared me, but also excited me for the new fighter. Now, I am done. Have a nice day. Greetings from Germany.😊👍

Fun fact, git: In some Sims games, particularly the PC version of The Sims 1 (fun fact, before (ugh) the sims 4, sims console games were drastically different from their PC counterparts, presumably as the developers of the "ports" (aka not ports at all but console recreations) didn't just want to port the game), sims are EXTREMELY stupid and will often drive themselves to immediate doom if you're not careful. But some deaths require a really fucked up player to perform, and often the game chastises you for killing these sims. I presume that the sims' stupidity isn't a sadistic choice from the games' developers (Maxis), but actually a clever way to make this simulation game have some difficulty and make it less of a simulation of life and more of a game of managing insane people.

For other possible CBEs, why don't go and check out other games from Zero Escape series? And you can check Disco Elysium for some stuff too. I didn't went far, because I started game with my stats at 1 for giggles and died when tried to turn light on in the beginning of the game. That was a good laugh though. For Boss Analysis - perhaps quick check of A Hat in Time won't hurt. It's similar to SM Sunshine and SM Galaxy - a collect-a-ton 3D platforming adventure. There are some interesting bosses (especially in mods. I myself have only 1 mod, and it's a music replacement mod for Chapter 3 main boss)

If your looking for a really scary game over check out chicken run for the ps1 and dreamcast. It's based off the movie chicken run from 2000. You play as the chicken characters trying to escape from the farm. You have to avoid guard dogs, Mr and Ms Tweedy, and if you are caught by any of them they still glare at you in a menacing manner. I never played the game, I was just scrolling through some videos then saw the thumbnail then clicked on it. I saw comments talking about how when they were kids they thought it was horror game. Let me tell you I had trouble sleeping afterwards. Should I have played this as a kid I would've pissed myself.

Sometimes I've worried that I've been too nice to my Sims, but having them die on you after you've spent so much time and effort creating them and building up their skills really sucks. I've been on hiatus from The Sims since I got Animal Crossing NH. At least nobody dies in that game... I think.
