I have switch over to a foutain pen and while i do love them and would like to edc them i just find a roller ball pen much more conventional for what i do but i agree with a lot thing here

I agree, I tend to keep my fountains at home or in my office work. I dont usually loan them out ever. Always hand a ballpoint instead

something I have learned since using a fountain pen and cursive is that I do not need to have a death grip on the pen to write. it feels so much more pleasurable and relaxed and I can actually enjoy it. I didn't realize that my grip was what was causing me to hate writing all this time

This is very common. I also had to correct my grip. Unfortunately many of us aren't taught how to write and simply left to copy characters in a book. It's difficult but never too late to improve your writing grip. Best of luck 😊

I've had great success with the Waterman Expert medium nib. I can see now how writers prefer the narrow nib. I've been writing with a medium ball point for years and habits are not easy to break. I may switch to the narrow nib. I'm married to a wonderful woman and a house payment among with the expenses of both. I'll see what eBay has to offer.

Fountain pens are a dangerously expensive hobby ha! I stopped purchasing them myself. Today I mostly write with a dip pen, it will produce lines finer than any fountain pen. I still enjoy my fountain pens occasionally but honestly even a ballpoint pen can be nice for practice.

You ask... What my favorite pen is. Well, that is what the problem is... I like all fountain pens and i just can't get enough of them. I love cheap and expensive pens equally.

What is that silver pen you have in your hand? A Yard O'Led?You should point out that fountain pens don't to be expensive. You can get a basic pen for about $5-$20. You can get a Pilot Varsity (semi)disposable fountain pen for roughly $2.00 at a Staples or Office Depot. Though you don't have to dispose of it. You can refill it. A bottle of ink costs as little as $5, though you can get more expensive, and will last at least a year with heavy use.

These are great additions! I think the Pilot Metropolitan, Lamy Safari, and TWSBI Eco are the best inexpensive entry level pens, and for ink I would probably go with a Waterman mysterious blue bottle since it's a nice ink that works well with a lot of paper. I have never hacked a varsity that way though. I am holding a Lamy LX in palladium :)

If you could only choose one pen.. what choice would you make?

Hands down the Lamy 2000

The Lamy 2k is my favorite pen because it has provided me with a smooth and enjoyable writing experience. Plus it's understated design is to my taste. I also appreciate the discrete ink window. Recently, however, my favor has moved to my Visconti Homo Sapien because the nib was recently tuned and ground to an extra fine by John Matthias at nibs.com. The only thing lacking from that pen is an ink window.

Pen for a lifetime, ah? Even stainless steel lamy 2000 and pilot vanishing point get broken because of plastic inner parts. Unfortunately.
@DieyenDualPen5 жыл бұрын
Any fountain pen can break. On the other hand I have a couple pens that are 70 years old and still function.

That's where taking care of the pens come into the picture. If you dont take care of something you can't expect it to last.
