I love the 1st recipe, never heard of Olus oil before ;) ! For the 2nd recipe I don't even think you need the wax, the Vaseline already is the grease base....
@WholeElise3 жыл бұрын
Sure, I found the vasaline to be too tacky and have very little slip so it needs more oil to compensate, but that leads to a more liquid texture overall. The wax balances it out, but feel free to modify as you see fit 😊

Wow this is going to be great I still use the grease recipe that I made 4 years ago when I was experimenting GREEN 💚 GREASE 1 tbsp. Horse tail 1 tbsp. Stinging nettle 1 tbsp. Peppermint leaves 1 tbsp. Parsley 1 tbsp. Thyme 1 tbsp. Rosemary 2 tbsp. EVCO 1 tbsp. Shea butter 1 tbsp. Cocoa butter 1/3-1/2cup sweet almond oil 1-2 tbsp. Honey beeswax *We're going to use a double boiler and put the heat on low. *You're going to add your sweet almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and, honey beeswax into a clear, glass bowl. *You're going to let it melt then add your herbs. *Turn fire off and let mixture sit for 2-5min. *Put a strainer or cheesecloth over a clean, sanitized container *Pour mixture through *Leave lid off at this time you can mix in your essential oils. I added Rosemary, second distilled peppermint oil, spearmint, corn mint and lavender enjoy 😘

WholeElise, this was excellent. I loved the first recipe, fractionated coconut oil is so beneficial for the scalp, especially for those with Seborrheic Dermatitis . It's also one of the best oils to use to do oil infusions. It has a really long shelf life. For those who want a natural colour option (there's so many), you can add a scoop of organic red palm oil, or you can make an infusion with the fractionated coconut oil by adding things like hibiscus/moringa/dried/powdered herbs/coffee/dried blue or purple flowers that has hair/scalp benefits...lot's of choices. If you have scalp issues, you can even add a little pine tar.

Can you do a reverse engineering video for Jergens Lotion (the Enriching Shea Butter version) but with naturally derived substitutions? With that lotion, there's no oily residue afterwards, and it just applies nicely. Not sure if olive wax is the culprit, or the synthetic (unnatural) ingredients. I tried your Winter face cream formula. Its nice, light, but leaves an oily residue afterwards....

The limonene, linalool etc are usually listed by law because they are allergens of essential oils. So instead of listing the essential oils as well as their allergens, companies just list the allergens as it it not a legal requirement to list the actual fragrance used in the product. That being said the allergens listed could have come from plant derived fragrances that are not essential oils.

So glad I found this video! I have fine hair strands & just can't work with hair creams & butters. I like using grease, but petrolium & mineral oil aren't very moisturizing. They will actually dry my hair out (my hair will be greasy to the touch but feel like straw at the same time) if I haven't had a wash in like a week, they are also very difficult to wash out of my hair too, so I have to use a strong shampoo further drying out my hair. & I have airbourne allegies (mold & wasp allergies) so the sticky tackiness of blue magic & other hair greases, just attracts dirt, dust, and my allergens to my hair, especially in Spring & Summer. So I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle. This recipe is perfect! I was literally searching up candelila wax as an alternative to beeswax for homemade balms & this popped up. The algorithm knows! I will make this but I'll substitute the fractionated coconut oil & castor oil with the squalane oil I already have at my house (I believe the consitency will be the same as these 2 oils put together), but other than that I know this will work for me. Thanks for sharing & I wish you nothing but success!

Definitely good to know you can make your own hair grease! I will be doing this. I did make some the other day but it doesn't have wax in it - I never knew, and I didn't know about this video. My one just has castor oil, Flax seed oil, petroleum jelly, some essential oils, Amla powder and MSM in it. The texture is like vaseline but a bit runny. I just needed some grease! But, I will buy some wax and melt it in the grease and re set it before I use it again, it should be fine. And I know.. msm doesn't dissolve in oil.. I know. What I do, my hair is wet when I massage it into my scalp so I hope the wetness of my hair and scalp helps me with that issue. It's great stuff though!
