Hey! I think if you find a similar lightweight butter that would work. Mango butter is extremely light with a 0 on the comedogenic scale. I’ve used that in our professional hair butters- you’ll be happy with that if you have it. You could also search ‘lightest botanical butters’ and some alternatives will pop up.

Uuuuugh! I wish I could say that this worked for me but it was a major fail! I was so anxious to try it that I used mango butter because I don't have avocado butter yet. I also don't have the emulsifying wax yet, so I used BTMS -50 instead. It took about an hour before it actually thickened to the consistency of a milkshake. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for the ingredients you used. The good news is that it actually feels good in my hair and I love the fragrance I chose.

great video...i could be doing something wrong.my cream doesn't really moisturize my hair ,it literally sits on my hair making it all white. Could it be the emulsifier that i am using..i used pola wax
@WholeElise
@WholeElise 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you're having problems with absorption it's possible you have low porosity hair so dampening your hair to lift the cuticle layer will make it easier to for the cream to sink in. Whilst I haven't personally used polawax as an emulsifier it shouldn't cause any issue with the product penetration, however, if it wasn't completely melted before you added it to the water phase it will have a visible residue in the final cream. I hope that helps 😊

Hi Elise I would love to try this recipe but can you help with the recipe in a total of 100g
@WholeElise
@WholeElise 4 жыл бұрын
The recipe is for 200g but it is a little tricky in getting it down to 100 because not all the measurements neatly divide by 2. But the values are flexible as long as it adds up to 100, so feel free to round up or down as necessary. Whenever scaling recipes most important thing is just to make sure that you calculate your preservative accurately according to its percentage guidelines 😊💚

Love the recipe.❤ I have very fine hair and definitely need something that won't weigh my hair down. Just one thing, I've heard that glycerine is great for hair in the winter but not much during the summer as the heat will leech the glycerine from your hair making it dry. Is this true??? Also, do you have a liquid diy hair moisturizer recipe for everyday use. Currently I'm using glycerine/water while it's still cold but thinking of doing a jojoba/water combination for the summer months and depending on how well it works might stick with jojoba indefinitely.

Plz can the preservative be used in orher homemade products such flaxseed gel and aloe vera gel as well. Also where can one buy this preservative? Thanks
@WholeElise
@WholeElise 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vivian, natural preservative are more temperamental than synthetic ones might struggle to preserve food type ingredients like aloe & flaxseed gels. I haven't tried personally but I'd recommend that you blend the aloe in a high speed blender and then strain to make sure there are no lumps before added a preservative. You might need to use a different one then mine that is better suited for gels but I got my preservative from a site called LotionCrafter 💚

@@WholeElise Thank you so much. I came across lotioncrafter a while ago but wasn't sure if they shipped to the UK ❤

@@NO-hu2st it's so tricky finding trustworthy suppliers! Especially that ship internationally. I've only used them the once but I didn't have any problems 😊

What do you mean emulsifying wax? Is it btm? What is its content? I'm making your recipes. Unsuccessful. What is emulsifying wax inside? Thank you.

Hi I just found your channel and I love your videos. I really appreciate you helping us to see we don't need a whole lot of ingredients but I was wondering in this recipe can you swap out avocado oil if you don't have the avocado butter
@coriebarnes8680
@coriebarnes8680 3 жыл бұрын
No, you need a butter. So choose another butter that you have on hand. (obviously not shea butter because the goal is a light cream, not a heavy one) But maybe Mango or Cupuacu Butter. You sub butters with butters and oils with oils. You can't interchange them. They both have different properties that makes the formula work

The video is very beautiful, but unfortunately, I did not understand anything because of the language, because my language is Arabic, and Google's translation has messed up everything

Hello Elise, How long can the product be stored? Does it stay that texture or must be refrigerated? Absolutely love your videos!
@WholeElise
@WholeElise 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kaneesha, thanks so much! This hair moisturiser will last for around 6 months. There's no need to refrigerate and it's a full emulsion so the texture remains the same 😊💚

WholeElise hey I made the moisturizer but experienced mold. I made it about 2 weeks ago. Could it be due to me leaving it in the bathroom? Or not the right amount of preservative?

Out of curiosity can this be used as a body cream also?
@WholeElise
@WholeElise 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Even though it's aimed at hair, it follows the same basic principles of a good moisturiser and the ingredients are all fine to use on your body! Great to have around if you end up running out of your regular lotion 😅😊

HELP! My hair cream is way too runny because the recipe is wrong. How can I rescue it?? Says 12g preservative for the 250g version. But on the interactive formula calculator it says 2.5g!

This is absolutely amazing and so informative!!! I’ve tried several times to make a moisturizer cream, but can’t get the emulsion phase right… are you allowing the mixture to cool first then emulsify?

Is the avocado butter that you use refined?

It definitely looked like refined avocado butter. Unrefined avocado butter is light green in color.
