I just bought the VS3 from WLL two days ago. I think it has 0 reviews so I’ll have to leave a review. This is my first grinder that isn’t a kitchen appliance grinder so really look forward to seeing how it does. I’ll proba alt do a blind taste test like Mark did on this video but with the VS3 vs a Cusinart grinder. I’ll leave my findings in my review.

I bought mine few weeks ago from WLL but not happy at all with the grinder….I bought hypernova ultra burr from Varia and still can not manage to get a proper espresso grind…it is too coarse even i put at 2…I am about to return this almost $400 dollars with the ultra burr and still I can get better with my old bartaza

@@Nathan00at78Uuiu I keep calling and no one does respond…..I send the photo….so WLL can see how coarse the espresso grinds are…..they should be almost like powder and I never get that consistency. It comes out more like drip or french press…

Hi Marc, I appreciate all the testing you do. I’d like to see the guts of it. You know, like when you and Todd did the under the hood vids of espresso machines. My Profitec T64 has so much static and retention, it is not really a joy to use. Big, fast and strong though.
@Wholelattelovepage2 ай бұрын
Hi Spc, Thanks for the comment and request. Honestly, not much to see beyond the grinding chamber and its components. There is an access door on the bottom which opens and you can see the DC motor. The T64 as you mention is a faster and stronger espresso specialist. It's not designed as a low retention grinder but does have super precise adjustment with the worm gear. When I'm using the T64 or similar grinders and want a fresh dose I do purge and toss 2-3 grams. Surprised you're having static issues. Are you in a very low humidity environment? Have you tried RDT on the beans to reduce? Marc
@Sourpusscandy2 ай бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage I like a darker roast, but you know Maromas Orphea, that gives me a lot of static and retention. It is not a fun machine to clean out. What is RDT? Is that the spray you used on the beans?
@Wholelattelovepage2 ай бұрын
@@Sourpusscandy Yes, RDT Ross Droplet Technique is the misting of beans with water. Alternative method is to stir beans in hopper with a moist finger.

I tried their vs3 gen 2 and all the burrs they had. I dont know how long itll last but i thought their hypernova ultra burrs were pretty comparable to the intent of something like the SSP lab sweets! Def needs to be slow fed for very light roast espreso grinds though

Varia VS3 vs. Eureka Mignon Facile for my first setup with the Gaggia Classic Evo Pro?
@Wholelattelovepage2 ай бұрын
Hi d, thanks for the question. Either is a good choice. As a single doser, using the VS3 is a bit more involved. It's best suited to those who enjoy being more detailed - they likely see espresso as hobby. The Facile is more utilitarian. Push in your portafilter and grind. It's simple, straightforward and easy. You can and should weigh your coffee doses but my guess is Facile users are less likely to weigh than VS3 users. If you'll be sampling different bean types and would enjoy going deeper into brew ratios and playing with variables like minor grind size and dose weight changes the VS3 is the way to go. The VS3 has far more precise grind size setting control than the Facile. If you'll be using the same beans all the time and are unlikely to go deep into manipulating espresso flavors the Facile grinds at least 2x as fast. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi a, Rocky was a wonderful product many years ago - opened up many to decent grinding for home espresso. But grinders have come a long way since then! I'd go with the VS3 over the Rocky all day long and 2x on Tuesday! Marc

How is the repeatability and consistency if I switch between espresso grind and french press grind?
@Wholelattelovepage2 ай бұрын
Hi m, Thanks for the question. Compared to other options, large changes in grind size are very repeatable so long as you remember where you where set for each brew method. Each mark on the grind adjustment represents a 10 micron change in burr position. That's a lot more precision than most multi-purpose grinders with stepped grind settings and simpler precision than grinders with small adjustment knobs. Marc

How does it compare with the Lagoom mini?
@Wholelattelovepage2 ай бұрын
Hi p, I do not know. I have not used one. Price in US I could find was $150 more than VS3. Specs say it's 45-60 sec to grind 18g at espresso size. VS3 is ~40. It weighs about half the VS3.
