Wholesale Dealer License | Selling & Buying Restrictions

Just a quick video to remind those of you interested in the dealer wholesaler license (in Ontario, Canada), there are restrictions regarding who you can buy and sell cars to...actually, it's pretty simple, you can only trade with other licensed dealers. You cannot trade with the public. Check out this video for more details.
In Ontario, if your plan is to buy cars from the public and sell them to other dealers, you'd have to apply for a General Dealer License. You cannot buy from the public with just a Wholesale License.

Yes, you can export with a wholesale dealer license. A wholesale dealer license allows you to import and export vehicles, including an unlimited number of exports to international contacts. It also gives you access to auctions that sell vehicles for international demand.

So with a wholesaler license, 1. do you get full access to all auctions as general dealer ? 2. Do you get the dealer plates to drive your car purchased at auction to your home/business? 3. Do you have the ability to transfer the purchased car to a different name/business/yourself before selling to a dealer or auction? 4. Can you buy private and sell to a dealer ? (You mentioned this earlier)

Hey brother I don't want to be a full time car dealer, I work in IT but I will like to start this hobby. The wholesale license seem to be the way to go since I don't need a lot and many mire restrictions like a dealer. First, I know if i buy a car I can't sell it to myself but nothing is stopping me to drive it for many months (with dealers plate) until i sell it to a dealer. Right? Also i will love to find dealers partners so that I could use them for transactions

As a wholesale dealer, if a family member needs a car, can I transfer the ownership of that vehicle that I have to a family member (RST exempt)? Or, would I need to "sell" the vehicle to another dealer and then have them "sell" it to my family member?

What about if you looking to keep a vehicle as a wholesaler tht you bought from auction would you buy it and then go threw a broker to get it transfer to your name ?

Great videos man, very informative. I live in Toronto and I was wondering, as a Wholesaler, will I be able to buy a car from the auction, repair it, sell it to the dealership to ultimately buy the car back from the dealer myself to drive as my personal vehicle?

For the wholesaler license , do you buy it at the auction or with the dmv. I asked connecticut dmv about a wholesaler and they didn’t know what I was talking about.

I still haven't started anything but im looking to flip cars ,,basically i want to have access to dealers auctions only cause they have the best price. My business plan is to find good cars whether salvaged titles or otherwise where i will simply buy and ship them can i go for an exporter license and use my home address as my office ?

Find a dealership to do your paperwork.. Basically like You're under that dealership if you want to sell wholesale..and the customer pays the doc fee and sales tax..so basically that dealership that's doing your paperwork is your secretary 😊..you're welcome

As a wholesaler, I think you can buy from private and transfer the ownership to your dealer company (wholesale) and then offer it up to other dealers, or is that not accurate? But I could be wrong….😮

Yup you're wrong!!you have to find a dealership that would do your paperwork,and you have to pay tax and doc fees (what that dealership charge)you can't buy private like that!!if you're trying to put in your business name..YOU CANNOT SALE WHOLESALE TO YOURSELF IT'S GOING TO BITE YOU IN THE LONG RUN

NOPE!!!!you have to find a dealership that you can bill your car through.(if you're planning on keeping the car yourself or selling it retail to a customer)bill through them..they will charge you their sales tax( whatever state your in) and doc fee
