Man, this map's so cool, I also really love the sound design in it, it sounds oddly realistic and I could totally see myself sitting down in one of the cabins and listening to long videos while on my way to another city. Also that lever to toot the horn? Essential.

There was an old map with planets, there was an underground bunker on an ice planet. There was also a non prop spaceship. That map was awesome, but GMod updated and it was lost.

5:59 Just wanted to correct something, player ragdolls are basically ghosts, they pass through anything that isn't static, so props, doors, breakable geometry, etc. This also means they are unaffected by things that push or move props, like the trigger on the ground.

it's not the most original concept, but this one is probably one of the nicest 5:58 that's an engine limitation, vanilla player corpses can collide or interact with only a handful of entities, to save performance. if you got one of those "player keep corpses" addons i imagine it would be pushed backwards

1:35 IIRC, I believe this was how level E1M3 in Blood, named Phantom Express, looked like the train in the level was moving. The whole tain was stationary and the ground was what was moved in an infinite loop.

Yep! Was going to say the same thing, but this is just how the Phantom Express worked. It’s extremely clear if you jump off and watch the blood decals/sprites.

playermodels don't move in the same way as props because vanilla playermodel ragdolls are handled clientside. install a serverside ragdoll mod and try it again. keep corpses if you intend to achieve the same with npcs.

there's a fun version based on snowpiercer featuring a weird portal and attacking trains and an assault mechanic and ai and an automated turret, the turret does bug a bit if power is cut but can be fixed with a combination of something

You should check out Cruiser Canyon, it's a nice map for flying LFS/WAC. It also has some interesting features, like the huge ship in the sky that lets you fire a particle beam. All in all, a great experience.

Player ragdolls are not effected by push forces or really anything that would effect props or ragdolls spawned by the player or map and don't have collision with props, entities, and npcs

Another train-based map that popped up recently is just called "Train Test" by Bombasticked. It's basically a giant, working trainset with switchable switches and a very interesting mix of environment themes (or the beginnings of them, anyway. Right now it's just props and dev textures). I'd keep my eye on it as it develops; could make a very cool video once it's done. KZbin won't let me post links, but the ID is 2761142407.
