I have it too and I have noticed a few things that help me survive, you just need to rest and sleep a lot, the cough is weak and bearable when the air in the room where we breathe is well heated, then the cough is not deep and painful, if I just leave this warm room and find myself in a cold place the cough attacks like crazy until I can't breathe sometimes or until it sucks out, what is in the stomach and ends with small vomiting, I think in my room is 28-30 degrees all the time, I have also noticed that warm air cannot be humid, so I keep the window slightly open, just enough so that it is warm enough and the room does not retain moisture, humid air causes me to have apnea, stop breathing, it is as if the lungs stopped in the middle of a breath, it is quite frightening and I always jump out of bed and stand on the floor after that, holding the window slightly open this problem disappears, it is better to eat fruit in small quantities because there is nothing to vomit with coughing, drink a lot of tea with honey and wait, unfortunately doctors are so lazy that they do not even mention what is really the only medicine and can shorten this tiring disease

I've had this for around 4 months. At the start when I was having a cough I went to the doctor and they just said it's maybe just a bad cough. Then weeks later I was woken up in the middle of the night with a coughing fit and then being totally unable to breathe for around 60 to 90 seconds which was petrifying. Doctor couldn't do anything. Had these coughs / severe breathing issues for around 4 or 5 weeks. Now I am still with the cough but it's not as bad and the whoopnis still there but breathing issues are only a few seconds. It's scary and the worst illness I have ever had...

At first I had cramps in my stomach area due to the strong cough. I ended up injuring a bone due to my cough and also had unbelievably bad pain with every little cough. With my children it is less now, but it is still there. Vaccinate yourself and your children against it if you haven't had it. It's a really bad disease and no doctor has diagnosed it in us. We figured it out ourselves after seeing the symptoms on KZbin. Unfortunately too late.

This is the scariest sickness i have ever had. Stage one was an average cold, i coughed and had a runny nose. Right now im in stage 2. I currently have a fever on my sixth week of sickness, and the coughing has gotten worse. It gets hard to breathe because of mucus buildup in the throat and airways. I despise coughing now, and never want to experience this again 😳 and pluss it takes 1-2 months for the cough to actually go away. It helps with drinking hot milk with honey, aswell as breathing in steam from boiling water.

I’m 46 and was never vaccinated. Got it from my 10 yr old after we went to the England Brazil game at Wembley where I think he got it. My son was vaccinated as a baby. My doctor referred my details to UKHSA who never called as had been led to believe they would. Guess there’s too much of it around for them to trace. The difficulty breathing is the scariest part. After 6 weeks I’m still producing the thick mucus that makes it difficult to breathe although coughing bouts have reduced. Had Amoxicillin after 1 week (no affect) then had clarithromycin after 3 weeks, which did help to calm the bouts a little. It’s weird how the nose suddenly produces mucus during a coughing bout and eyes suddenly go bloodshot but the crackles on the chest subside with good rest, lots of water and deep breathing. Box breathing is helping me get rest and mini naps during the day, however can’t sleep on my side due to painful ribs/diaphragm.

Apparently, my symptoms are mild and not severe, but believe me when I say that it was the worst illness I have ever encountered. It is rough. Because I am tired of dealing with incompetent doctors, I went to see mine and told her that I wanted a respiratory panel (nasopharyngeal swab), which is similar to a COVID test but checks for 20 different things. I tested positive for rhinovirus (common cold) and Bordetella pertussis (which causes whooping cough). I was prescribed 5 days of antibiotics, but I am still dealing with the cough. The doctor said I caught it in time, although I had symptoms for 10 days. I hope you feel better soon and don’t hesitate to ask for what you need.

It's terrifying when that happens. You will breathe though as your lungs are automatically programmed to do so. Even if they stop for a few seconds. Your epiglottis closes when you cough t and it gets swollen when you have whooping cough and opens again slowly which means you find it harder to breathe When it happened to me I blacked out, but came to quickly breathing normally. I think it's a bit of anxiety about it for me as I have asthma. It scares me and my throat tightens. I try to breathe through my nose when it happens and down to my lungs that way. It seems to help. It's very scary.

Along with drinking plain water ive been taking now for 10 weeks and its really calmed down the cough and makes life easier .. ive had asthma in the past so its tough without the Vitamin C, the vit C counteracts the toxins from the bug and also breaks up the mucus so you can clear your chest n throat ...everyone should be advised to take this it makes life so much easier.
