My wife and I start medicare/ssi in the next few months, she worked 19 years FT, myself 27. Over the course of our careers with the employer match we contributed over 300k into the system (excluding fed income tax). The notion that these programs are some kind of welfare is beyond ignorant. We are the richest nation on earth yet the only one that holds its population hostage with healthcare costs over their entire lifetime, then leverages your assets and home with end of life care currently not covered by medicare. However, a benefit Harris specifically brought to the campaign table to expand medicare. The state/federal government takes everything when you pass and leaves nothing for the next generation, brilliant! What a royal scam or we are the stupidest f’ers on the planet who expect nothing in return for the hundreds of thousands of dollars over and above ssi/medicare deductions in federal/state income taxes over a lifetime. Until we get it out of our head that expecting a social benefit like healthcare or college education from our tax dollars for our people is not ‘socialism’, we will continue to decline in quality of living and life expectancy…

One thing I rarely hear mentioned in discussions about Social Security is the fact that the money paid to indigent and disabled people goes directly back into the local economy. Poor people spend their money- they don't have a choice, and are constantly doing without what others consider to be necessities. Money received through SSI or SSDI is active in the economy; It's not lost money. It's not hypothetical money, and it is actually being used on goods and services. (This may seem obvious, but I still think it's worth mentioning.)

My god, Tim Pool sounds like a student who wasn't paying attention in class and the teacher now has to explain the reading to them.

I listen to a little local right-wing radio most days, and they do the same thing: Read a headline, then spout their right-wing, pro-Trump opinion based on their feelings about what they think the headline means. Then they take callers who do the same.

Tim and Sam should have a bi-monthly show. I can't stop laughing at this.
@weaverto19 күн бұрын
I love how Sam went Timbo's show to tell him he wasn't a serious person, and kind of dumb. The cherry on top was how casual and blasé Sam was while doing it.
@moodycxnt19 күн бұрын
Im fairly certain at several intervals of this "debate" Tim was talking over Sam by just repeating verbatim whatever someone said in his ear. Also Tim's obvious gish gallop at the start.

Nailed it. Tim Pool is the epitome of the typical conspiracy theorists' shallow understanding of things. They don't dare learn anything more for fear of proving themselves wrong. 😱

hmm, it's seems like it's just like how Some More News said. Tim reads the headline, maybe a paragraph and then incorrectly guesses what the article says.

Pool made it seem like he only does this with social security since he says he doesn't talk about it alot. This is how he operates on almost every topic, having and spreading strong opinions about something he lacks a full understanding in. And a lot of times this leaves his audience with even a lesser understanding than him.

Watching Sam own Tim Poole on his own show was both glorious and painful. Tim genuinely looked scared when Sam was sitting across from him cause he knew he didn't have a clue about what he was talking about. Also, Tim kept using the old adage, "If you can't convince them. Having a strong opinion about an article or story in the media while not actually understanding the topic seems to be how a lot of people who are more conservative towards a topic react. It's not just that I would disagree with their opinions but how their opinions are based in their lack of understanding which they'll put on full display while trying to look like the smartest person in the room. It happens too often that a conservative will have an opinion they claim is based on some article or even scientific research, and those same articles or research have points where they present the total opposite ideas or almost exactly what their "opponents" are trying to present.

@LaserMaser40119 күн бұрын
Probably not going to get any positivity for this comment. But imo Tim’s problem has roots in the idea that there’s no value in getting a college education as a basis for leveling up your understanding of the world, and that you can just watch videos and read articles online. As a member of his generation, there are those of us who took school seriously.

I liked how you got him to explain what he was saying, so people could see a lot of it was just nonsense. And when he had to explain what he was saying, it was very clear his foundational knowledge on the subjects he was talking about was so lacking. Reminded me of my grade 13 English creative writing class, when the teacher had us write a story using a thesaurus. People would just pick any word without understanding the context of the word. Inadvertently, ended up to be a hilariously, educating class.
