Watching how you handle pike always gives me a confidence boost for handling them. They're such beautiful creatures but man I get a little intimidated by them. You display the balance of healthy respectful distance while still being able to hands on ensure their proper release. So much kudos.

Lots of fun out of that marvellous surface action. It hurts when a big fish snaps your line and takes off your lure. In my case it is more due to the thought of the likely big fish death by the hook than to the lure loss. But that’s fishing.

Just a tip for small net pike: try to get the head in them go from there. Once the head is in, you have more leverage. Bummer about the 75, but still an awesome vid!!!
@ndyakangler6 жыл бұрын
If I could go back and do it again I’d probably do that, especially once it broke off and was sitting next to me for a second. The main reason I try to scoop them from the tail end is because I’ve had a couple pike go head first into the net with treble hooks and they’ll roll and get all tangled up.

Watching that pike get caught I think there's a market for a hand guard of some sorts. A type of steel enforced glove to grab that pike and not get hurt. Grabbing the gills isn't always safe, had my hand slip more than once when the pike starts fighting. The hooks pose a threat too when that slippery fish wiggles.
