Hey Matt I just want to thank you again for your channel. We don't know each other but like many people I feel we are kindred. I've learned so much just from watching what you do and what you pick as targets. Getting better every time. I spent last Wednesday and today catching fish in my Kayak Wednesday and in a KaBoat with my dad today. This man is 80+yrs old, bent over after a back surgery and no longer has a boat so he was excited to get out on the water. We just paddled around a 200yrd stretch of river and Chatted, bonded, threw a couple ploppers and floated back. He taught me everything I know about life and about fishing (until I saw your channel). Today wasn't super productive, I caught 2 and he was so jealous he started trying to do what I was doing. Still, it was a great day. He told me this was just what the Dr ordered. He wants to go again next Monday. I'm more than inclined to oblige him.

Dog sitting my brother’s dog for the next week and a half, and the only fishing immediately in his area is the most polluted river in America, namely the Passaic. Story of my life. This is definitely the fix I needed.

If your speaking of the passaic river in NJ, I have caught small mouth. And more than 1. The sediment is polluted but the water quality has improved greatly. In June water was crystal clear.

I lived along the Passaic but up in Morris County. The river was pretty clean starting around Basking Ridge and on up stream.

Put in by 2 bridges road and paddle upstream for about 45 minutes and you’ll hit the Peace Meadows area. No houses, water cleans up a lot and there are some nice pikies and an occasional LMB in the corners of the river in undercut banks. I’ve caught a few smallies as well. Nothing like the pristine paradise of a river NDY fishes but hey, you fish where you are and make the best of it. Getting to NDY’s river (I know where it is from a bit o Googling) is definitely on my bucket list.

Love seeing all the jersey heads in the comments. Was going to say the same thing as you go west the Passaic is much cleaner. And it is the sediments not necessarilary the water itself. I live in PA now (commie NJ gun laws), and the schukyill river that feeds into philly was once the most polluted river in america.. last may a guy shattered the PA state record with a 50+lb flathead catfish out of the schukyill.. So long as you are not fishing to eat, some of these formally polluted rivers can still hold trophies.

Not matt, but yep...for sure. Stick with what it's got and have your drag right. A 7.5lb wiper couldn't bend it after five minutes and they fight harder

Tied into my first muskie on my 12.6 foot canoe. What a battle! As I was only going for "casual" fishing, I left some of my accessories, namely a net, at home. No choice but to battle him to shore, but only a few feet from shore, he did a flip and off he went! All the years fishing this lake and it was "the thousandth cast". That'll learn me!
