I'm sold on that bullet that you were using in this video. It worked for me very well this [almost] past deer season here in Southeastern Michigan, in the restricted firearm [formerly shotgun] zone. 200 yards is the absolute max that I will attempt to take a deer with, with the 350 Legend. I would say that trying to go past that would border on being irresponsible sportsmanship, just my opinion of course. For where I hunt the 350 is perfect; far preferable over a shotgun slug or the hassle of dealing with a muzzleloader. I know many would disagree with me. That's fine. It is great to have options for all of our different preferences. Thanks for the video. I enjoy your material very much. Keep up the great work. God bless.

You are a ethical hunter and I agree 100%. Past 200 yards the energy is just not there. Might hit one farther but as hunters we should make sure we have a humane kill on our game. I’m glad they built that round for you folks up there so you don’t have to use shotguns and muzzleloaders.

I use an 18 1/2 in barreled .350 Legend for white tails (due to state regulations on hunting cartridges) and with this Winchester 180 grain load, I have consistently flatlined white tails on the spot, every where between 15 and 100 yards, with no need for adjusting where I aim at these ranges. Zeroed at 100 yards, I get the same shot groups at the range as shown in this video, between 50 and 100 yards, with 3 shots averaging an inch group at 100 yards. I have found this set up fairly accurate and lethal out to 160 yards, on white tail, having to hold about 6 inches over at this range, tho I've only had the occasion to make a shot this far twice since hunting with the .350 Legend (technically one shot at 150 yrd and one at 160 yrd, both equally lethal) With my short barrel length of 18 1/2 inches I'm not sure what kind of accuracy I'd have @200 yards, compared to this video, but now I have an idea and am going to have to find a 200 yrd range to try it out at.

I agree, the Winchester 180 gr shoots consistently in my 18" AR upper. I find similar results to others, very flat shooting between 50yd and 100 yd. I also found the Herter's 180 gr perform the same for me with no discernable difference - in fact, I would guess they are probably produced by same manufacturer or use same if not very similar powder, bullet, and primers.

I absolutely fell in love with my 350 Legend right after the first shot! The mild recoil is definitely a selling point for those of us that do not have straight wall restrictions. Living and hunting all my life in Pennsylvania.. most the deer are shot within 75 yards. The 350 will knock the snot out of the biggest buck in the woods inside 100 yards. This past season I downed a big bodied pennsylvania eight point and my brother's nephew downed a huge 10 point with his. We both were using Federal 180 grains. Complete pass through double lung shot. A blind person could follow the blood trail.. but unnecessary due to both deer falling within thirty yards of the shots. Thanks for sharing this brother 😊

It's a great short range hunting cartridge. Outstanding out to 100 yards. Pretty good out to 150 yards. It goes down hill fast after that. Most hunters in the eastern half of the US will normally shoot less than 150 yards though. I would compare the 350 Legend to a 30-30. Many deer have been killed with a 30-30. If you need to shoot past 150 yards, you should probably go with a cartridge that has more powder capacity. This is a fun little carbine type cartridge with low recoil. It'll work in a single shot, bolt action, or AR-15.

The cartridge is designed to drop like a rock after 200 yards, so it won’t hit the houses on the other side of the field/woodlot you’re hunting in. It’s really designed to be a 150 yard and in round. If you use it for that, you’re perfectly fine.

Common sense says 200 yards should be the maximum range, same with the 30-30, of course the 35Rem, 358 Winchester, are better at retaining killing energy at longer ranges. I still feel that the 350 Legend has a place in the field, young and old, for those who can’t take the recoil, for many, many years, my wife’s go to big game critter getter was a Marlin, 444, she shot the 444 very well, killed several deer, but she’s not young anymore, and she’s getting shoulder issues. Its just easy to shoot and shoot well. They knocked it out of the part with this round IMO. I've always said for Deer hunting at these distances I love a slow moving, fat, heavy bullet. I snagged one because the rifle/scope package was $219 on a black Friday deal, and I can use it in Michigan's "limited rifle zone". My Rem 700 in .308 likes the cheap Winchesters too (150gr)! I recall back when Wally World would sell them $15/box a few years ago. Glad I stocked up a bit back then!

Very Good Job. In a similar venue, I have a built Beowulf .50 from my most magnificent gunsmith. Using my reloads 2,000 fps with 2,000 ft lbs of energy (Hornady XTP 350 grain hollow points) at 100 yards. I have "never" seen a more accurate platform at 100 yards. Hole / within / Hole, time after time. Bullet drop from 100 yards to 200 yards is 11.5". Still a good hunter. After 200 yards, you can't kill a gerbil.

What is the site you’re using for the bullet drop chart? I’m sure you’ve said it in previous videos. I’m looking to hopefully fling some lead out to 1000 yards. Thanks man and great video!! WTW

If you adjust for the bullet drop instead of using your 100 yard marker at 200 yards you can fix that drop simple shooting basics the further the target the more you will need to adjust

This is the only cartridge Walmart carries, so I had to see the videos on it, might be something to buy, I usually don't shoot hogs past 100yds.

Would have been curious to see the drop from 100 yards to 150 yards. Just got myself a 350 legend, and I was thinking I’d probably be doing most of my shooting at 100 or less, though would love to push the range a little beyond 100 if possible. Wasn’t planning to do much around 200.

I love my 350 legend the stopping power is phenomenal on hogs and on coyotes at a 100 yd and 150 just love it.

Would 25 yards be about the same as 50? I'm just thinking about a close-up bow type shot during gun season.
@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill3 жыл бұрын
I'd say 200 yards is asking a lot from the round on a deer. Yeah probably will kill, but energy is dropping off, and you may end up not finding them. The round is already known for little to no blood trail.
