.25-06 is the best all around, non-magnum long action cartridge around. Shoots flat and hard with 120 grain bullets and will bust coyotes at 700 yards with 85 grain bullets.
@phild98132 жыл бұрын
Agree it’s a great round, but I’d say there are better non magnums out there for a variety of reasons.
@ArkansasBadBoy Жыл бұрын
Choice Ammunition has an 80 grain load that I really liked. Reloading has been the way to go for a while since all .25-06 ammunition has gotten seemingly nonexistent off the shelf, but that load made me a believer in just how effective this round can dispatch a Coyote at any distance a person is capable of, which is about 600 yards for me.

Out of the ammo that was in-stock online, I went with 3 boxes of the Hornady Whitetail 25-06 117gr Interlock BTSP. This will be for hunting whitetails & hogs in Central Louisiana Forest. I liked the .9" grps from Ur 25-06 test with this ammo. That's plenty good enough for woods hunting here in Louisiana. Hope my Axis II can give 1 moa at 100yds. I'd be tickled if it does.

Thats funny. I've tried Fusion ammo in several of my rifles from 5.56 all the way up to 45-70. They almost always yield decent to very good accuracy for me. They also tend to shoot @ or slightly above their published velocities through my chronograph. In addition they have proven at least to me, to perform flawlessly on all the deer, hogs, elk and 1 bear my family and friends have used them on.

@christophertate64532 жыл бұрын
Agreed, those were pretty good grps for Fed Fusion. I'm a huge deer hunter like U & as for tight grps go, I'd have to go hunting with these for Ur gun. Keep in mind though, high shoulder shot, if possibly, is Ur best 1 shot drop on deer. I have lost my share of deer shooting center shoulder at 30yds broadside, deer drops & gets back up & runs off. Only to loose it not finding not a single drop of blood. And, looking fir a half a day for that deer. No doubt it expired shortly after I pulled the trigger using 308 178gr eld-x which were extremely accurate. Next day, shot an 8pt with a 6.5CM 143gr eld-x center shoulder 80yds briadside. Buck drops, gets back up hobbling away from me. Now, wounded, I put a 2nd round into the rear pelvic to get him back down & he goes down. Gets back up once more still heading away but much slower. Now 110yds he turns broadside & stops. This time I wasn't letting him go any father, high shoulder & dropped where he stood. All 3 shots were recovered. All 3 projectiles the jackets were 3" in & the lead core another 4" in, for only a total of 7" penetration from the 143gr ELD-X. Very accurate round, but terrible performance on deer in 308 & 6.5CM. My best performance in bullets are the Winchester Super-X 150gr Power Points in just about every caliber. Never had a projectile stay inside with Power Points. Exit holes are approx 2-3" depending on caliber. Not the most accurate bullets, but plenty good fir woods hunting. Only 1 caliber in PP's didnt like my Savage Axis II was a 6.5CM. I think if Winchester Super-X made a Power Point for the 6.5CM in 140gr, it would better stabilize it, instead of the 129gr. That Axis II just didn't like the 129gr PP'S & I'm guessing b/c it's to light.
