The future feels bright again for Doctor Who- this second Russel T. Davies era easily feels fresher and better than Doctor Who has been for about a decade now, and Ncuti Gatwa is an absolutely fantastic Doctor, pouring both joy and realness into the role with his performance. Doctor Who is so back, and I couldn't be happier about it :)

Absolutely agree with everything. 15 embodies pure joy and I love that about him. I have enjoyed every incarnation of the modern era Doctor, all for different reasons, and Ncuti Gatwa brings yet another dimension to the character. I love this series so much!

15 is a Doctor that you would not only enjoy traveling with, but you would become best friends with him. That's something that I feel isn't in many Doctors and it's really cool to see.

My only issue with 15 is that he doesn't have a set coustume which im not to found of it makes him seem to terrestrial and locked into current time (minus the two times he dresses for the time period which the doctor shouldnt have to) i'm ok with the doctor wearing multiple outfits but id prefer them to be color swaps or different shirts and neckware replacing orher ones

I don't find it a bad thing. Trying to start off very fresh. With trauma left behind. Trying to rediscover as a entity and a person. Also trying to blend in better with the locals. Try to rediscover himself

I think that sometimes it's hard to separate the controversy of "in-the-moment" fan responses from less contentious "bigger-picture" media analysis. I've really enjoyed this season, and I'm looking forward to seeing what 15 will do next!

I see way too many doctor who videos find one way or another to take a jab at that era, or don't treat it the same as RTD1 or Moffett's eras. But you treated her version of the character the same as the others in new who, and i respect that

So, I have watched every single episode of the show, and this straight white male can confidently say Ncuti Gatwa is my favorite doctor. I have NEVER been able to pick a favorite doctor before. I could go on for ages about it, but I will just say he has the most genuinely authentic acting style and it just makes you love his character. With the 15th doctor being so open and bombastic yet subtle, the mythical elements coming in, and the diversity in the types of creatures and themes in this season, I feel as though this era of doctor who was made specifically with me in mind. I know it wasn't but it's everything i have always known this show could be.

I love Ncuti but RTD is obsessed with Doctors acting like humans. I prefer Moffat's more Alien Doctors, who don't feel like everyone else.

Personally I like a mix of both. Its nice seeing the more alien side of the Doctor, but also with how much time he spends around humans, it makes sense that he'd start acting more human too

This is the incarnation, that's healing after all the previous trauma. So he's allowing himself to feel emotions in a normal way. The next Doctor is probably gonna be less emotional. Also, I know how much people love Capaldi, but he was too much of a drama queen for my taste.

The moment that sealed him as the doctor for me was rogue, when he was proclaiming himself the last of the time lords as his past incarnations circled around him, definitely was a mix of 11 I'm the doctor moment and 10's voyage of the damned speech

It’s nice to see some positivity about this new era. I love Ncuti’s incarnation and I’ve enjoyed every episode - even Space Babies! The series is getting better with each episode. I think some people aren’t reviewing the series in good faith. It’s like they just want to nit pick. Personally I think we’ve had some the best episodes I have seen in years and I can’t wait for the upcoming finale.

I also hadn't heard of Ncuti so I checked out Sex Education. I thought he stole every scene he was in, which for a supporting character is unusual. He really is a breath of fresh air as the Doctor and he does have an infectious enthusiasm. I think Chris Eccleston was amazing in that scene in Dalek when he wakes it up and they have their dialogue with each other. He showed so much depth of character and I think Ncuti has done this over the course of the season. I really enjoy watching him

I was eager to see how he'd be as the Doctor, and I can safely say that I love him, he IS the Doctor! And I think Gatwa will be around as the Doctor for quite some time

The season with Ncuti was better than expected! Such strong, poignant stories like peak Who! Ncuti gets better and better! That scene where he was dancing ecstatically in that club was breathtaking on account of the pure unalloyed joy he was radiating and has been profligately spinning off like a supernoca ever since! Unfortunately, the bigotted grifters who pander to and whip up toxic fandom are getting a lot of mileage out of the fact that the Doctor is not a straight, white cisgender male. No matter, quality will win out in the end! Great segment! Glad to have found and subscribed to your channel!

Seems to be produced with longevity in mind. I hope 15 survives more than 3 series. He's not held back by tempered audience and producer expectations. He's got good material and doesn't have to be a world class turd polisher like Capaldi. We got Disney money and the best Tardis design ever.

I don't want to be negative, but it feels odd to say Gatwa's Doctor is "produced with longevity", when this season has already gotten the lowest rating for an episode in the series' history, twice, and has not even cracked 3 million on overnight views a single time. Even RTD admitted the ratings are not where they want them, we dont have the audience appreciation index numbers and Disney has been completely quiet about Disney + ratings too. And as many people said, if those numbers were amazing, they'd have told us by now. All we know about the Disney ratings is they haven't shown up in the Nielsen ratings.

@WeirdWonderful it was supposed to be released shortly after the christmas special. That's why I said produced, not released. Doctor Who shouldn't air when people are out in the sun. There's the midnight release, too. Doctor Who hasn't done this before. Disney plus doesn't do much in terms of transparency for any show's performance.

Glad to see people other than me are enjoying this season. There's so much negativity out there and it hurts to see sometimes. I think Dot and Bubble, when you analyze it in-depth, and the sub-context of it, is absolutely masterful media. Arguably one of the best episodes in the entire series. I hope RTD is around for a good while. Love every element of his writing. 73 Yards was a bit confusing and didn't land for me, and I'd probably rank it my least favorite of the season, but I don't hate it. Overall, every episode has worked for me. I think you can see how Russell has grown as a writer, too. God I can't wait to see his first Dalek story (I'm a big Dalek fan).

The 15th doctor just has a lovely kind charm to himself, he has a love of life but also has a soft spot, but also not afraid to hide his sadness. He is also VERY open about himself, heck he said more about his past in space babies than the whole of Jodie's era (probably because it's a new era so need to keep people up-to-date) and this is not a negative of her era, it just i could tell that she was more private than her other past incarnations and her era as a whole (bubbly character hiding herself). Overall I enjoy series 1, so much, sure there are a couple of issues with certain episodes, but Ncuti and Millie is not a con, heck they my favourite duo. I think by the end of his run he going to be my favourite or very close to 2nd, which so far he is already 3rd fave. Overall Ncuti was an excellent choice and I can't wait to see what is installed for series 2 and I believe he doing a 3rd series.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about the Doctor (Ncuti's in this case) constantly changing his outfit episode to episode. That being said, I think it actually adds to the character. I always hear Missy's voice in my head (retroactively) when I saw the outfits which weren't appropriate to the era during the Eccleston/Tenant/Smith/Capaldi/Whitaker era: "Anachronism". Yes, it feels out of place to see Tenant in a tight fitted suit ("Get to work, you skinny boys in suits!" - Donna), but it does not feel out of place to dress era appropriate (e.g. Donna in "The Unicorn and the Wasp") if you can. I really would like Jodie to get her shot with a great production company and writing staff. I wish they'd been on hand to do her Doctor justice. It's a criminal shame that she didn't get the same opportunities as she's amazing actress (and I loved her in Broadchurch as Beth Latimer). She was a natural choice. Ncuti felt like his own Doctor right at the bigeneration. It's rare, but a few Doctors just feel like themselves on day one like Eccleston, Tenant, and Smith ("Fish fingers and custard."). Whitaker and Capaldi didn't feel that way (though, I enjoyed Capaldi when he *didn't* have a companion). It's good to see that some just really "get" their character and it's also good to see writers "get" that character, too.
