What if you have been spending years getting CyberSec degree from WGU, getting certs, doing projects, and cant get a single call back from hundreds of applications?

"Your mind is THE battleground....the enemy is after your mind. Out to worry you to death, out to stress you to death, out to break you down, out to make you quit, out to make you think that you can't get up, out to make you give up on your dreams. The warfare is in your mind, it's not in your checkbook, its not in your savings account, its not on your job. The fight that you have to fight is in your MIND!" - T.D. Jakes Peace and blessings for anyone going through it. Myself out of the IT field for 8 years and a work gap for that long on top of it, and trying to get back into work and back into IT. Good words on this video and appreciate the motivation Mr. Clewis. I'll try to work your pieces of advice into my path moving forward.

Whew this video came in clutch. Yesterday, I was thinking about how I don't seem to be retaining the information I was learning and it's because I'm in survival mode. I'm employed, but I HATE my job and am looking to quit, expeditiously. So I've been cramming like crazy.

There’s a viral LinkedIn post over 88k likes and bro posted he just got a tech position at Tesla 500+ applications , 200+ interviews later. While that’s an extreme case some people really don’t understand the grind man, part of it I guess can come from the instant gratification social media age we live in…and click bait headlines, added on to the internal pressure…its unfortunate.

A lot of high paying jobs require certs , my current job as a behavioral tech requires certs every year , provider insurance and a couple other things . Don’t let it discourage you once you have the certs your head of a lot of people think of it like that

Wait is this the same Boyd Clewis that has that cyber security training academy that scams people out of 15,000 dollars a person??? Or is it the pastor that cheats on his wife with April the girl that works for him. Which one is it i am talking to. ?? Or the guy that’s going into schools around Texas and trying to get kids to enter his program and rip their parents off. Please tell me who this is.

I am currently a custodian and with 0 tech background, I have been going to school for the past 2 years for Computer information systems. Cybersecurity is part of my curriculum and I was in fight or flight due to a car accident early in the year. I can say that it may have slowed down my learning but I did not give up and continue to learn new things everyday. After learning about what roles there are in cybersecurity, I did not realize that all the courses in my program are leaning towards ethical hacking. I will be done with school in December and will aim at learning more about white hat hacking as well as some GRC to further solidify my foundation. No job yet but won't give up and will continue to learn through the process. Thank you for this informative video.

Hey Boyd, I love your video. Can you share your insight about choosing career path in terms of choosing niche? At the begging everyone is seeking to land this first job, but later when we want to develop ourselves it is hard to try everything in tech to decide what inspires us the most. Can you give us some advises about that topic?

Thank you for the ideas. I would be very much interested on the project ideas you proposed.

Hey can you drop a video maybe about those 50 projects that you brought up that we can do to gain experience or maybe even 5 projects?

After being in business for myself for 30 years in a non-tech area, I have returned to school to meet the requirements for an engineering degree. I'm doing it just as a matter of interest. I'm not interested in working for a company at this point in my life. Most companies probably wouldn't be interested in me anyway because of my age. That is fine. What, if any, are the possibilities for working for oneself and how long might it take to reach that point, or get hired by someone like you as a consultant?

I was on survival mode and it was accelerated today when I saw a clip where this guy who says he has been in tech for 10yrs said, GRC (which I really like and it lines up with my natural skills and projects I have done before) is saturated and that we should all be going to devopsec 😭😭.I don't want anything to do with devopsec.I don't like it and I am going to pretend I did not hear that guy. Besides what u are saying Mr Clewis makes more sense, that we should learn what our natural skills line into. Thank you for speaking sense always.

This is probably why I can’t focus on school. Super stressed from a business that I hate, two young kids at home, a new puppy. I want to get into cybersecurity but whenever I try and force myself to study I can’t do it.

I Took cousera cyber security cert and in the future plan to take sec+ cert . A little about me i enterd lawshool after a high Lsat . Left after a semester in it cuz i didnt like law . Then discoverd cyber security and realized i like computers but i am not the best at math. My life rigth now is work 5 to 8 hours a day 3 hours doing homework then sleep . For some time now , its painful some times but but i do it cuz i want a future where i earn good money and get to work with computers. With everything going on in the world i dont know if i could have that but i have no choice but to try to get it if i can and belive i am going somewhere i would like.btw i am 24 . After everything i feel like i wasted my life the doubts dont go away and the days lose meaning cuz they all feel the same . What they dont tell u about studying cyber or anthing really is just the daily battle your gonna have to keep seeing that future you wanted to have and The hoplesness of the world pulling you down . still I cant really stop trying to mold my life into a way i like.

I’m definitely in survival mode. My Security manager left recently and so did my Security Engineer. I’m left with an immigrant that speaks broken English and a geriatric. I was thinking about switching to cloud engineering, but after watching your video, I think I have other skills to leverage in the Cybersecurity world.
