It is because in your country when they prepare your milk products they remove some of the sugar lactose from the milk before selling it to you it happens also in Zimbabwe. I grew to know this when we went to the industry a lot as a kid during school trips. A very good example of what i am trying to say is like Coca-Cola makes its products specific to what people in a country want.

As long as I can remember, my dad has been avoiding milk because it gives him stomach pains. Mom never stops trying to get him to have diary in his diet, though, usually by secretly adding milk into bread doughs when cooking. I never understood how silly that ‘remedy’ was until I myself developed lactose intolerance in my late 20s, when all of a sudden I could not enjoy a coffee without suffering severe cramps shortly afterwards. After some trials and (painful) errors, I found a brand that offers true lactose free milk that I could safely have, and recommended it to my parents so that mom would stop pestering dad to try regular milk in small qty and “just ease yourself into it slowly”. No mom, one cannot just ease oneself into regular milk if one suffers from lactose intolerance, the gut will recognise it right away. Better stick to properly treated milk, or go soy / oat / almond…

The statistics here are misleading because there are various degrees of lactose intolerance. Many people who has it never even notice. The lactose just passes through their digestive system and comes out at the bottom without doing any harm. If you're one of them, you won't get the calories from the lactose but you still benefit from all the other goodies in the milk.

Lactose intolerance is not a gradient, it's caused by failure of the LCT gene(the gene eventually turns off). Your body can't digest lactose when it's turned off, you'd have to eat only fermented lactose or your gut bacteria will digest them with gas as a byproduct.

I think the definition of lactose intolerant is doing some very heavy lifting for that stat. Growing up in Pakistan I never ever met anyone that had lactose intolerance like people tend to have in the US (e.g. I had a couple gulps of milk and now I'm shitting out my guts). A majority _might_ have some slight problems with digesting milk though. That kind of thing is hard to notice.

No one in last 5 generations of my extended family of over 200 people was lactose intolerant but now more than half of newer generations is. One thing that isn't talked about in this video: there are degrees of lactose intolerance, and of course different ways people respond to the effects of it. For example, someone could be slightly lactose intolerant, have one cup of milk at breakfast, and not feel a thing, whereas I myself would end up in a hospital if I did that. The human body is more resilient than people give it credit for. Same thing with alchohol. Most people from Asia and Africa in this comment section rarely ever heard of that term yet most of them experience some kind of aftermath after drinking milk, so my bet is that most of these people wouldn't openly say 'hey I'm lactose intolerant' mainly because they aren't familiar with the term despite being lactose intolerant. Asian here, the video is right, most of us are lactose intolerant. It's just that the majority of the comment section (and probably most of asia) thinks being lactose intolerant means either being capable of eating dairy or not. When in reality it's just things like having a stronger bowel movement or diarrhea a few hours later that people assume is unrelated to the wholemilk they drank a while back

wouldn't high temperature also correlate with high amounts of sunlight which in turn is another much more reliable source for Vitamin D, a necessary vitamin which the body can produce naturally through melanin absorbing sunlight. and that's also why people from South Asia, Africa, and South America tend to have darker skin ie. a phenotype which specifically only means high amount of melanin in the body

Many people is my country doesn't even know they are lactose intolerant. I myself figured it out when I started living in the usa. Lactose intolerance can be hard to detect sometimes. Example, dairy product like yougurt, cheese, rosgolla etc doesn't cause me any discomfort. But a litttle bit of liquid milk, milk tea causes bloating and discomfort.

I see all these “I’mAsian” comments talking about not knowing about lactose’s intolerance, it’s interesting to see how many of us just didn’t realise we were lactose intolerance haha. I drank lots of milk growing up and love milk tea and icecream soooo much. But as I’m becoming an adult now I realise that I actually did show many symptoms of lactose intolerance since I was teenager. I Always ALWAYS get bad tummy aches and some degree of diarrhoea after eating icecream but I thought it was because it was cold etc haha… Its not like you will die if you consume dairy, it’s just uncomfortable for some people. And because we don’t really think about “lactose intolerance” many of us just… don’t realise it and keeps on enduring the pain lol. Since I live in Australia it’s not hard to find lactose free dairy products and it’s really quite nice to enjoy it without the pain.

You “train” to be able to tolerate certain quantities of lactate. So one could be lactose intolerant but because they drink it so much, they’re able to handle 3 cups a day. My friend is a good example of this: he drinks milk daily but as soon as he goes over 1 cup his stomach starts acting up.

@@georgiykireev9678 Dude, they didn't sail from Norway straight to the unknown lands of the west. They had colonies and outpost in Iceland and Greenland, from there they explored coastal North America. They had a short lived settlement in Newfoundland, which they called Vinland. This is a historical fact supported by archaeological evidence. And how do you think the brought horses to Iceland? The vikings were eximious sailors and ship builders. As for if the milk was from cow or goat I don´t know, I read this story many years ago, and I find it totally plausible.
