In this video, I discuss the importance of release patterns and the finish in the golf swing, particularly for those who struggle with twisting the grip. I demonstrate a simple technique using a tee placed between the thumb and index finger that helps players maintain a square club face.

I recently became a member and i asked Trevor directly about just the release and he told me to hold tight and lo and behold he drops this video within a couple of days. If you like his videos, if his methods resonate i highly recommend becoming a member as theres tons of videos, training schedules, weekly meetings and he'll genuinely respond to any and all questions. There's so many things you can waste your money on in this sport but Trevor isnt one of them. Wonderful investment and one hell of a coach!

Thank you much! I do greatly appreciate this! Means a lot! My biggest thing is trying to bring functional movement and logic to people. When we have a reason, understand the cause and effect, it then gives us the ability to problem solve to find the solution! Thanks again for the comment here and I look forward to hearing how things progress!

Great stuff Trevor-I needed this. Thank you 🙏🏻 Question: would you say upper body/chest rotation is a significant contributor to keeping a square face as well? My chest has a tendency to stall out and my release is always right hand over left immediately along with a flattened arc. Thank you my friend👍🏻👊🏻

The chest can help for sure when the arm structure is in a good spot! I think a lot of it as well is the arms how the adduct abduct in the downswing as well as shoulder retraction and protraction! This is a big piece of moving correctly through the golf ball and downswing

Great video. No doubt this helps square the face and create straighter shots. However where does the club head speed come from? Is there a point where you’re whipping through the ball?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
Forearm pronation and supination is big time release! The trail wrist won’t actually be able to stay in extension the entire time but the refine on the through side of the arc will help to train a release that keeps the clubface square!

After coming back to golf after 10 years, I’m going to give this one a try… as this is what I need to stop my pull hooks and blocks. It will explain why my left wrist is so painful with twisting I’ve been doing. Thanks you. 🏌️‍♀️⛳️

Does keeping this pressure on the tee promote a cupped left wrist throughout the whole swing?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
Not the entire swing, the lead wrist can work to neutral (assuming you have a neutral grip) and the wrist will work into extension on the finish side of the arc!

will this help eliminate fat shots? I tend to release the club early.
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
Could surely help with this in getting the hands to work together more. To eliminate fat shots make sure low point (lead shoulder) is forward enough at impact!

Any changes for driver?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
I would still work the same feel for sure and potentially even start at slower speeds. The drill pattern will look / act different due to having pressure further back, lower swing plane and where the lead arm and club straight line earlier at the bottom of the arc. You can still work on having the same feel though I’d say keeping the tee on top of the grip to the finish. I’ll even look at doing a release pattern vid on drivers vs irons.

what i liked about the drill it stopped me from slashing at the ball with my hands and arms which is kinda the insticntive thing to do but instead use the body pivot. you explained it really well and then provided the visual demonstration. thnx.

Hello Sir, good video. I do have a tendency to hook my shots as well as block them. However,Mostly,the problem is really with a Driver and hybrids are more of the issue. The irons I can compress the ball with my left hand coming down into the shot , so that’s not so much the problem can you elaborate on this particular drill pattern if the woods/Driver would be the same And or I realize you shouldn’t have golf swings, but the woods are keeping me back from being really low handicap Please advise when you can thank you
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
I have used this drill for players with drivers as well! The club is obviously swung and released a bit differently based on where pressure in the upper body is with driver but the same feel/ goal can certainly be attained it! I’d recommend doing these and getting the finish to stop 3/4 (Tommy Fleetwood) so you can check to see the hands and where the tee/ logo of the grip would be. Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything or have any questions! TS

Awesome vid Trevor. Which hand dominates the swing if ur rt handed
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 3 ай бұрын
I think we are all a little different in this area. I personally am more trail arm dominant. I’m right handed and it is where most of my feel comes from to. I do however drill things as well that can be more lead side dominant feels for this reason. Thank for the feedback, comment and support here!

I struggle with hinging and lag when doing this feel. Any tips?
@tsgolf

The wrist hinge still moves into radial deviation (an upward hinge of the golf club) after impact. The grip handle should stay much lower than the club head!

Good video Trevor! It looks like you are neutral throughout the swing as far as radial/ulnar deviation are concerned. Is that correct? Thanks!
@tsgolf

I would agree with that and putting a larger emphasis on where we are trying to get to at the finish which can help to stabilize the face through impact! Thanks for the comment here!
