If you can't provide legitimate proof of cheating stop calling him a cheater. Spygate was 1. about the location of stuff being filmed and not about what was filmed. Video taping teams was legal under certain guidelines. The one the patriots violated was the area that they video taped had to have a roof over it, which it didn’t. That’s not cheating. It gives no advantage whatsoever. 2. retracted by media sources when they realized they messed up. 3. admitted common practice by most coaches in that time period 4. had nothing to do with Brady, that'd be on the coaching staff. Tuck Rule was an actual rule put into play about 5 years prior to that season before Brady was even in the NFL and was used against NE that same season to give them a loss to the jets. Deflategate was disproven by mutiple scientists that have a higher degree of education in that type of stuff than probably 98% of people on this thread because they have other stuff to do besides argue football. They do those studies for fun in their spare time. The suspension he served was for the courts ruling that Goodell was allowed to suspend him as per the collective bargaining agreement, he was not suspended for breaking his phone. He was told they needed no more evidence for the case so he destroyed his phone as he did with his previous phones. He did it this way to get rid of it securely instead of just returning it for credit. They ruled in an earlier court that his suspension for cheating lacked evidence and threw out the punishment so the NFL came after him for something else and got what they wanted. (until TB went on and rested for 4 games then torched the league and won #5)

It's amazing how much the "Suck for Luck" narrative shows exactly who pays attention to football and who doesn't. For years, everyone said Peyton Manning was keeping the Colts at a higher level than they really were. And when he missed 2011 everyone was shown just how right they were. It was an old team across the board with bloated contracts just waiting to be rebuilt. Despite the injuries, poor level of talent and questionable coaching they still managed to win two of their last three games and lost seven other games by 8 points or less including the last game at Jacksonville 13-19. Meanwhile, Washington was getting blown out in the last game 34-10 at 7-8 Philly. Which one was tanking? If that's all you got for the Colts, maybe it would have been easier to just say they've never been caught cheating.

I remember the Tomlining incident quite distinctly. Baltimore actually got a touchdown on the ensuing drive. Side note: That's the moment I decided Tomlin was generally overrated and had been a heavy factor in their struggles (to the extent that back to back 8-8 seasons can be considered a serious struggle) since getting Tebowed in the playoffs. I do now appreciate that the core problems go much deeper but at best Tomlin is a symbol of the soulrot that's about to eat them alive.

@@wyomingptt You've got to look past the straight win-loss counts, by that count everything is fine and dandy and the only real problem is sharing a conference with the only team in the league that has better counts (PIT: 45-19, NE: 51-13). You have to look at who they've lost to, how they've lost to them, and even certain close wins can be instructive. 2017 is particularly dramatic in the last regard[*]: there were four wins where they came out and played like dogshit until deep into the third quarter before rallying to get game winning field goals in the final minute, with three of them coming at the literal last second. I can almost guarantee you that trend factored into Jacksonville's game plan in January. The Jags came out with a plan and the tools to exploit that weakness, and the Steelers played right into it, which got them into a 21-0 hole after one quarter, a hole from which they could never quite dig out. There's also their first loss of the season, to the Bears. They played down so horribly to a team that's been a Dysfunction Junction for 30 years that they lost in OT. They don't get there if the special teams coaches had worked with Eli Rogers to ensure he could field that first punt cleanly, or if the normally solid field goal protection doesn't break down and give up a block that turns into a Bears field goal. If they had won, the Patriots game in December doesn't cost them the No. 1 seed and they draw the Titans, the one healthy team the entire year that drove the Steelers to play up to the preseason hype. I could go on from here, go into detail about them going 2-2 against the dumpster fire that was the 2014 AFC South, or getting swept by a Ravens team that had been hollowed out by injuries in 2015, but I think the above makes my point well enough. [*Which is a fitting turn of phrase, seeing as they're drowning in behind the scenes drama these days]

I admit losing to JAX was embarrassing and they always lose to NE but what are you gonna do blow the team up? Yes they certainly have their fair share of selfish players and idiots (or in the case of Bell selfish idiots jk) and but that's every team in the league. It could be worse just look at the under achieving Chargers or Buccaneers or hell a lot of teams let alone perennial laughing stocks like Cleveland. Those are the teams that need to take a look in the mirror not the Steelers.
