Thus far, the biggest difference between the US and China is that China sticking to their own plan laid down 15 years ago. Whereas the US gets a new plan every 4 to 8 years, depending on the presidency of that time. Having went through the space race 1.0, the US should have a better understanding that space programmes can last longer than one Administration.
@KRYMauL

The US has had roughly the same plan for a while. The thing that keeps sliding is the timeline. Basically it went: retire the Space Shuttle in 2012, land on an astroid, return to the moon, build the gateway, retire the ISS, get to Mars by 2030.

Well, most of the first Space Race (if we count it up until the first moon landing in 1969) occurred on the Democratic administrations of Kennedy and LBJ (which were relatively similar when it came to NASA), with Kennedy being the one who claimed to want a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s, which he did not live to see Only the initial fumbling was under Eisenhower's Republican administration, and the final wrap-up (as most of the work had been done by then) was under Nixon. There wasn't much changing of plans during that period

The westerners always look and interpret China in their own way and culture, just like I thought this is the reason why you did so, so this must be the reason. They are so pissed off, or jealous, or frightened because of China has achieved so much without taking their advices. So China has to be the country which stole, cheap, untrustworthy, etc, in order to make it an enemy. Funny thing, you can check the history and tell how many Non-western countries are really successful after they took the advices from western, check what happened in russia in the 1990s, check what happened in middle east, in east europe, in south america, in africa. They must have realized that China is successful is because China didn't take these 'warm and nice ' advices from western. So China has to be doomed.
@HarryMonn
@HarryMonn 5 ай бұрын
I checked, eastern europe has had tons of prosperity after it left the Soviets. Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, also all very prosperous. Capitalism itself was invented by the Dutch, and China uses capitalism. So to say that Western advice doesn't help at all is false. It doesn't help every time, but there are success stories.

To give credit to China, they have a much more consistent, realistic effort in space. The US has had its space endeavors stifled by administrations flipping back and forth. Thankfully, private companies like SpaceX are finally releasing NASA from its horrible political shackles, and will enable a great deal of innovation and discovery.

As a Filipino, I know the Chinese, ethnic or nationals, are a very patient people. They'll do things in a slow pace, and the returns only show up and compound over a *long* period of time. This is the difference between the USA and China. The USA views everything as competition and a cut-throat race to the top. China is just doing everything at a sure pace. Looks like the US is just reacting to whatever China does, and the one who does the reacting frequently is the one who's gonna lose.

People you don't understand what is really happening in terms of global geopolitics. In fact it is not only about geopolitics anymore. Is more about ethnicity and cultural geopolitics. Han Chinese people are known to be extremely xenophobic. Their country has been known to be the Hermit Middle Kingdom for centuries due to their belief of China being the Center of the World and enclosing themselves from the rest of the world. Right now China has a population of about 1.4 billion people in comparison with the United States which only has 320 million people or something like that. It is known that in the entire world 1 of each 10 people is Han Chinese. The United States and Europe could eventually collapse due to unsustainable migration from poorer countries and neither China, South Korea or Japan as a considerable amount of foreign population living in their respective territories because they don't allow it (It's not acceptable in their culture). Not like in the United States or Europe. Speaking about Chinese culture they worship money. It is all about the money. It is considered casual in China to compare salary incomes with another Chinese person in order to date or to know which person is a better one. Money and opulence simply makes you a better person. The richer you are the worthier you are. What do you think will happen when China obtains global hegemony and starts to invade all surrounding countries for plundering and territorial annexation? They are already sending satellites into space in order to spy surrounding countries. Its going to become either a genocide or an apartheid. It is already happening in Xinjiang. Uyghurs live in some districts apart from those where Han Chinese live to discrimination. look for information.

So if the US is so "open" about information why not invite Chinese scientists to work together on these projects? China obviously has enough talent to rival the worlds no. 1 superpower, which in turns borrows talent from around the Western world. In a logical and idealistic world, both sides would combine intelligence and resources to achieve goals quicker. For the US at least, it is indeed a race, not for the glory of humanity, but to maintain their own superiority and prevent themselves from being overtaken.

@Anthony Q The US never does anything for someone else's benefit lol. There is always something to be gained from their "helping", especially when it comes to foreign talent contributing to increasing their knowledge. China has always had great scientists and inventors throughout its thousands of years of history. It's also worth noting that the US passed the "Chinese Exclusion Act" in 1882, discriminating against Chinese workers, because they worked harder for less than their jealous White colonist peers, thus making them more competitive in the mining job market. And this was not repealed until the 1940s. The America of today is just repeating the realisation of fear and jealousy, currently trying to suppress the inevitable rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. If we look at China's history, great dynasties rise time and again, usually being the most wealthy and advanced of it's time. A feat not matched by any other civilization on Earth.

If the HK security law aiming to stop the thugs from their year-long Molotov cocktail throwing, cop killing, parliament burning, airport and subway vandalizing, senior citizen abusing were truly "controversial" like you said it was, the security law just imposed across the US because of the one-day protest by a 99% peaceful crowd would be an absolute outrage trembling on people's right to hold peaceful protests. HK/China didn't put 30,000 plus troops, spies, fully armored vehicles, and tanks on the streets but you accused them of suppressing democracy and glorify their thugs as pro-democracy protesters who your congress quickly erected the HK security law for their protection, but when your own citizens held much less violent protests against the very same congress, you called them insurrectionists and have them swiftly prosecuted. Truly grotesque and corrupt western corporate media.

There is no space race. A race is two or more parties trying to be the first to achieve the same goal. China has a long term vision of what they want to achieve and set out to achieve that step by step. They stick to their plan whatever the United States does. That is not a race. To use a sport analogy, there is no race between a runner and a swimmer. The Chinese space program has many international partners. The Chang e 6 carried instruments from France, Pakistan and Italy.
