The biggest problem I have with act 3 is Serena. After Veronika dies, Serena finds new inner strenght, she realizes she‘s on her own now and has to fulfill the mission Veronika gave her life for alone. The way she inherits Veronika‘s spells is so wonderfully woven into the gameplay and makes so much sense, with extremely detailed foreshadowing like their skill trees fusing perfectly. Serena went from most boring party member to one of my favorites. Act 3 completely nullifies all of this. All her character development never happens in the alternate timeline. I always have problems with fictional stories where characters get revived because I think accepting death as an absolute in everyone‘s life is a lesson everyone has to learn. And Serena‘s development is a prime example of this.

I agree, that's why I kept 2 saves, one for the world without Veronica, and the other with her. I don't like how if you prevent Veronica from dying, Serena reverts back to the soft spoken, weak character that can only healer(I know she's great at that, but still). Weird saying this, but when she cut her hair, and gained the confidence to learn Veronica's spells, I oddly felt proud of a video game character. All of that goes away if you go back in time to rescue Veronica.

These scenes are not thrown away, they are done similar or just abit differently with less depth. Sylvando still has the same scene with his dad, as well as more scenes with Hendrick. There is also a story quest that they both do. Hendrick's redemption path was probably better in Act 2 but he still goes down that path as well as closure with Jasper that wasn't in act 2. Erik still has a scene about forgiveness with his sister. All these important scenes are still in act 3 but I admit, I didn't like that they took out Rab's character arc and you learn 'pearly gates' because the Elder watcher gives you powers. This should have been done at Angri La again where he originally learnt it as well as Quardaslash.

Yeah, definitely a throwaway. Act 3 forces us to join up again. But with less weight to our choices. It really took away the meaning of the original message. My heart was heavy after what happened to Veronica, I couldn't accept it. But by the end and Serena's development, It all became clear; A choice was made for the greater good, and I had to live with it. It made me grow as a person. Like I lost someone very important in my life. It's a feeling we will have to accept at some point. Nothing lasts forever. Act 3 definitely throws all that development away. Clearly for the weak-willed.

Bless you OP, basically put into words what I've been thinking since I finished the game and have been stewing in it for weeks. I get that DQ devs wanted a "woo everybody lives ending" where they wouldn't have to put extra effort into a game that follows on from the Act 2 timeline, but they way they did it feels like a huge copout. Letting Act 2 Serena, Erik, and Sylvando have solid character arcs that are subsequently nullified actually pissed me off enough to stop playing for a little while. Like, while yes great everyone is alive, the whole ending of Act 3 felt so hollow - having to traverse a world where the heroes failed, piecing together your ragtag party again, and building back up the hope in Erdrea and the strength to defeat Mordegon ,while facing some difficult decisions (looking at you Hotto) felt like a much better endgame ;-;

God I couldn't agree more and I'm in the same boat, lmfao. Just finished Act 2 a week or two and was extremely satisfied, then when I realized Act 3 was literally gonna be a meaningless retcon to save people in a new timeline for no reason other than...they wanted to save people from a separate timeline who technically don't even exist until the Luminary makes the decision to go back? Like it's not like theyre turning down an opportunity to save people, they're literally just creating a new timeline and risking the Luminaries out of guilt? God IDK I just seriously don't like it and I think I'm putting act 3 on hold for the foreseeable future bc all the wind in my sails has left lmfao

What sucks even more is that I'd probably be okay with Act 3 if, instead of making it a continuation of the main game, they had just called it a "what if" scenario and had it play out similarly to Act 3 with a few changes to make it more of just a look at one way the events of the game could've gone.

Damn, it’s almost as if act 2 finished the story the game wanted to tell and that the game makes it overwhelmingly clear that you’re going to abandon all the character development in act 2 to get a better ending. Why are you people analyzing act 3 like it’s a part of the story, or that it has character development? That’s not what’s supposed to be. It’s just a way to add more content to the endgame.

I personally didn’t think Act 3 was awful, but it needed to be ALOT longer, or at least, written differently. After you figure out the history of Mordegon and Calasmos, the storytelling takes a huge dip. The party chat turns stale and recycled, and you’re basically just running around town ‘saving’ the people you couldn’t in the previous timeline. It’s a cop out ending to soothe the people who couldn’t accept death. The part I loved about Act 1 and 2 is the buildup and the great pacing when it came to the character relationships and story, they felt like a real found family because of the ordeals they went through. The party in Act 3 feels superficial compared to the party in Act 2. Again, I definitely feel like Act 3 would have benefited from either being longer, or having almost completely different events interlaced with the history discovery. The effort and pacing of it pales in comparison to the other 2 acts.

I don't like plot twists that undo development. Don't misunderstand me, I love Dragon Quest XI and I eventually warmed up to the Act III as it gave a very satisfying ending (and story is not that important to me as opposed to gameplay), but I never could forget the lost stories and developments (Sylvando forming his troupe, Veronica's death, Serena's growth, Michelle reappearing after she clearly died, etc). Certainly the story part is fairly lacking because of this.

Personally, I think Veronica should stay dead. Act 3 should have been about Calamos trying to revive itself through some other means (remember, Mordegon only destroyed the lantern not the dark Tockle). Everything could've played out the same way but without the time travel shenanigan. Maybe even pull a DQ7 where you try to revive Veronica but ended up reviving Calamos instead. This is a bit unrealistic but I wish there're 2 post-game routes; the one where you time travel and the one you don't. This way I won't have to leave my act 2 party every time just to play the post-game.

Tbh i hated act 3. Like gameplay-wise and post-game it's fine but the story on act 3 really sucks. Like everything, most of it is mentioned in this video but i feel like the ending kinda sucked. Like i get it it was a nice callback to older DQ games but thats it (and it's kinda hard to follow the franchise especially when most of the franchise's games is in japanese, there are remakes that have it translated but it's not the same.) We never see what happens to the luminary after that scene with Yggdragon. Like i was expecting probably DQ8 where you could enjoy a little of the world after defeating "final boss" before reverting to before you defeat him. This annoys me even more especially since in the Switch version you can choose to "live with" any party member. Its like future trunks in dragon ball. He went back in time to change the past and give goku the heart medicine, but going back to the future reveals his world is the same. No change to time can ever be made. Only alternate realities can be made. So while in trunkses world everyone still died, the androids still killed future gohan etc, but, in the alternate timeline he created, one with a better outcome, Goku and vegeta persisted and reached super saiyan blue. The only thing doing all that did was allow trunks to become stronger to kill the androids. Thats all we did. We shattered the time sphere, and with the strength we attained in our main reality, The sword of shadows, We decided to change the outcome of an alternate world and live there because in this alternate dimension, we could have the happy ending we always wanted instead of such a dreadful one. I have theory about act 3. What if act 3 never existed and it is all in the luminary's mind. Like what if the luminary died when he broke the sphere? Why? - The Timekeeper mentions that it is impossible to foresee what happens after breaking the time sphere (what if he died as a result) - If you ever die on jasper's fight on Yggdrasil on act 3, you aren't sent into a gameover. You are sent back to Arboria and woken up by veronica as if it were a bad dream -Inconsistent to Act 1 like the Mermaid being alive. - Some Dustran's wishes look unnatural, like you can just pick anyone to marry? No need for a wedding or have a talk with the person to live together? - The Game never explains what happened to everyone after defeating Calamos, like no big party celebration? Did they all just go like "We just saved the world. Well, goodbye and lets return to our normal lives." - Lastly, the one i think it supports it the most. On the Switch version, on the beginning of act 2 you get to play as a few party member on their side story before returning to the luminary. Rab's however, is interesting. He is sent in a place and get to basically live in a place where dundrasil never fell into ruin. Only for later Rab to realize it wasn't real and his reason to be here. One thing to note is that Rab was almost dead during this time so what if the luminary was dead and just sent into basically "heaven" where the world is perfect and he is still a hero.

One of my friends just finished DQ Act 2 and decided not to play Act 3. I don’t blame him at all. The reason I loathe Act 3 is how all of the development in Act 2 vanishes. 1. Serena, who was once an action figure you keep on a shelf and never use becomes such a powerful character and one of my favorites, gaining not only the inner strength she badly needed, but also inheriting all of Veronica’s abilities. 2. Erik gets some good development in Act 2, aside from being the best fighter in the game. His reunion and battle with Mia is fulfilling, and I enjoy how realistic and genuine their sibling relationship is. Act 3 Erik just says “Hey I got my sister frozen in gold can you just like un-gold her lay thanks” and the Luminary just effortlessly frees her. That isn’t satisfying after seeing Erik man yo and go as far as turning himself into gold to save Mia. 3. Hendrik would have never known about how far removed from reality Jasper had truly become. The way he confronts Jasper who in return confronts him for always getting the spotlight and shining through is great. I think it was fine exactly as it was. 4. An alternative solution to Serena’s grief would be marrying the Luminary, which makes the most sense to me. After they marry, they can have a daughter named Veronica, with Veronica’s traits and attitude. Bittersweet, yes, but it would be the best solution instead of the Serena in the original dimension losing not only her sister but also the Luminary who she’s sworn her life to protect. 5. It’s not even time travel it’s just traveling to a different dimension- 6. Why is it that only the Luminary can travel through dimensions? If anything, the rest of the party should be capable of tagging along as well. Wouldn’t it be easier to have it so they have to avoid themselves in the new dimension so time doesn’t get fucked up beyond repair? 7. Erik, Sylvando, Rab, Jade, and Hendrik don’t appear in the final moments of Act 3. This is a professional middle finger and I found it amazingly bad. All of the Luminary’s comrades should be there. 8. There are revival items and a literal revival spell you can just use that to revive Veronica.

I saw a 20 minute explanation of why when the luminary traveled to the past he DID destroy the time line whilst serenica created another one, the super super short answer is basically that if you pay attention the luminary destroyed the sword of light when he traveled to the past whilst serenica didn't; so I'm fine with time travel thing, my problem DEFINITELY is eliminating my favorite part of the game, the second act is amazing with how the luminary proves himself and shows why he's the hero of light, giving hope back to the entire world step by step even when eveything seems lost, the charactert devolpment in that arc is top tier and the mordegon fight is epic asf, a simple villain but with so much presence and cruelty that you just can't hate him
@dirge341

Here's the thing. Going back into time for DQ11, that means the time line the luminary leaves behind is now overwritten and ceases to exist. Act 3 was always meant to happen. It was meant to put things right. Also, there is the constant sense of deja vu as well as how the former luminary's party is not only mentioned, but helps out. There are several instances as to why serenica became the time keeper. Mainly for her love of erdwin. We see how in act three the former party of the first luminary as well as the watchers emphasize just how important the party is to the luminary. Also, there are several instances in which in party talk and outside of it that mentioned veronica and serena becoming a tree to some extent. As for calasmos, tockington explains that as well. He was desperate to get back to his body and as such messed up past, present, and future in an attempt to regain his former status. Mordegan provoking that outcome when he destroyed erdwins lantern. In fact the trials themselves were meant to test the new luminary in the event another great evil came about or if the darkone ever returned. Seriously 😑, people who hate act 3 need to look further in.

Dirge. Exactly. People just hated it because it ruined the character development. Which wasn't the case. I get where they're coming from. But that's not what the story was going. If they play close attention on what the time keeper explains and following the backgrounds from Act 1 & 2 that wasn't mentioned ever again till Act 3, than it explains it entirely.

In the game, it said that the first timeline was destroyed but it actually meregd with the one you end up going to in act 3. The way some people have memories or deja vu of the first timeline kinda confirms this. What doesnt make sense then is Serenica going back in time. That would mean everything would change rather than that being a separate timeline. Unless they are trying to say that only the Luminary can make the timelines merge like that. i did not like the character regression of most of my party members but I did like how Hendrick's story resolved. I had come to terms with me failing in act 2 just to be told that it didnt matter kinda hurt lol. It's a good thing I can go back to that timeline cuz I saved it on another slot

Remember: the Hero completely destroyed the time sphere while Serenica only cracked it. My head canon is that completely destroying the sphere made the timelines merge as time can no longer function properly without the sphere while only cracking it like serenica did allowed her to travel back to the past without erasing the timeline or merging her past timeline with the one that she originated from because she didn’t completely destroy the sphere

But if dq9 is the predecessor of dq11 then how does characters from the other games time travel to dq9. Someone please explain 😖😖😖 ...... Just realised that from the Zenithian trilogy as explained in that video, then the Zenith dragon and Yggdrasil are either the same god/dress but different dimensions, or something happened to the timeline and it fractured because of dq11 and that's why Yggdrasil is called the Zenith dragon instead, and because "time is relative" they changed the gender of said dragon..... I really agree with this video, Act 3 really feels like a rushed thing where nothing makes sense at all and doesn't feel that great. A bit unrelated, but still. I personally think the option to stop Erik from doing an attack was a "estetic branched path" type of thing, where, depending on what you choose, Erik would have turned to gold and Mia would have joined your team acting as a clone of Erik, or it would have gone on with the in-game option but slightly different. it may be a bit dark tho, then again, act 2 does get pretty dark sometimes.

Totally agree that Act 3 could have been better.. I get that ‘it is only a post-game’ thing, but that post-game would have been way better without the time travel thing. Like, helping people to build Cobblestone followed by the city of Heliodor with bunch of new quests. Helping Serenica to meet Edwin somehow *without* the time travel thing (like the Luminary met his parents), dealing with somehow revived Calasmos would have been all interesting and far more engaging if the party members remembered everything.

It left me feeling kind of empty and less whole than act II, which had you go through a range of acceptance and fixing and whatnot. I also wish though that the characters could develop in act III in a way that wasn’t like them vaguely remembering act II (which shouldn’t be possible because it never happened in the case of going back) and instead a way that had them feel unique if you wanted the perfect hero route. And I wish there were like 3 options on start screen for like fallen hero storyline, perfect hero storyline, and full story mode or something Edit: I also think that the calasmos storyline would be able to fit in perfectly in each option :)

Honestly I’d have way less problems with Act 3 if they didn’t just, erase everyone’s memories and character arcs. Though ig Serena is the only caveat to that, since you can’t bring Veronica back AND keep Serena from Act 2 with all of Veronica’s skills and powers. Still, it wouldn’t be impossible to write a reason for that. The real dealbreaker though is ALL in Serenica, since not only is her inclusion… bad, it also just proves that despite what the timekeeper says, the act 1/2 timeline isn’t lost at all? We just leave it behind, as shown in when we let Serenica go back in time herself. The original timeline still exists, and the luminary just fucked off out of it, leaving everyone else behind… and not even JUST the party members, at least they KNOW why he left. What about his family back in cobblestone? Who he is SHOWN to have a strong connection to? They will NEVER see him again, and really that’s the most tragic part to me.

I personally think yes, the character development getting yeeted away sucks but I don't blame El for going back to save everyone. He'd probably feel extremely guilty if he didn't. 2 - The timeline doesn't remain, it gets merged with the new one as confirmed by the director (which yeah still is ehhhhhhhhh but I just wanted to correct that). Why the timeline sticks when Serenica does it... I don't know. I assume that's a plot hole.

I know I'm a couple years late, but I've watched the video, and I've read some (rather mean but still logically sound) comments, and I've come to a conclusion. First off I should say, this video accurately addressed many of the issues I had with Act 3, and many I didn't even realize, and expanded on them nicely. Act 3, as a whole, was given an unimportant, rushed, lazy feel from a narrative standpoint and left many questions unanswered, as well as opening even further unanswered questions. That's my summary of how I feel about it. In regards to the time travel thing particularly, after reading others' comments and reviewing the cutscenes just prior to breaking the time sphere, I'm comfortable changing my initial conclusion to it being straight-up undoing time back to just before climbing the First Forest, rather than a timeline split from that point. *However,* I feel it was very easy to believe that a timeline split was the case, as there are strong implications from the game that. 3 points on that: 1. Party's behavior when they try to stop you. The general theme was "We don't want to lose you," implying that they would still be there, but never see the Hero again. 2. The timekeeper saying "This world would be lost *to you*." I'm not sure why she'd say it'd be lost "to you" if it'd be lost overall, as everything that happened in that world would have been lost, period. The sequence of events after the start of the First Forest journey would be completely gone, and have never existed except in the Hero's memory. But this "to you" makes me think "it's lost to you, but not others." 3. Serenica breaking the sphere seemingly not affecting the world for the others. Hero, Serena, and Veronica are still there, and still continue on to return the Sword of Light to Yggdrasil *after* that. So why would there be a full-on timeline erasure in one case, but not the other? If Serenica breaking it had no effect on others in that time, then why would the first case of breaking it do so? Although one could make the argument that the Luminary Hero has the ultimate power and can't fully transfer that to another, only partially, which was why Serenica was even able to go back in the first place (One commenter here mentioned that Serenica only cracked it, while the Hero completely shattered it). So it's very reasonable to believe that Act 3 was a different timeline which ends up meaning nothing, but I've seen a couple solid points suggesting the opposite: 1. The timekeeper saying "Those moments would be erased," outright saying "this will all have never happened" and that this is basically outright reversing time essentially. I do think this is inconsistent with the "this world would be lost *to you*" line, though. 2. The director of the game stating that there was no timeline split. Normally, I wouldn't put much stock in story directors clarifying things about their story if it's so heavily disputed already, but in this case I'm willing to take it in conjunction with point 1. I just think that if this was the case, they should have done a better job of clarifying it *in the game*. It would have been very easy, I feel. Change a few lines of dialogue, and that's really it. My headcanon is that Serenica's timeline of saving Erdwin and being with him merges with the XI Hero's timeline, and the events of the game take place anyway. That would make the most sense to me. Anyway, huge text wall rant over X( Overall, I think all your other points are great. The character development was undone, but most importantly there was 0 effort to make the character development and bond with the Hero happen again, even if it was in a different way. I do think that Serenica becoming the Timekeeper was a bit silly, but that's more for reasons that tie in with my time-travel issues with this game. I think your points about Morcant being the seer were *really* good. It made no sense to me how the whole time he was a steadfast friend who had nothing but the utmost love and respect for his friend, and suddenly he gets a voice in his head and kills the guy. Wasn't even like he got possessed, he just had an urge. That thing with Veronica and Serena turning into an Yggdrasil root was an interesting point as well, I never thought much on it, but it seemed like it was only to see the truth of what happened in the past and reveal Morcant as the seer, but it did also seem like an ability that would be like... *waaaaaaay* more important than to be slipped in there only once and never mentioned again XD Thank you for this video, really made me feel validated, even if I was led to almost completely change my mind afterwards about certain things afterwards :)

@@AddieB55 Alright, that makes a little more sense, she fails again. However the Timekeeper mentions in act 2 that the reality of act 2 would cease to exist after breaking it. Meaning we have created a new reality, the luminary could of just repeated all of the events of act 2 for all we know (and it probably would of happened if it wasn't for calamos' intervention) Not to mention Serenica has luminary powers basically meaning even if the events of edwin's death were to happen again. Serenica is now a second luminary and thus should be able to wield the sword of light and kill calamos or if she is selfish and just goes back to time sphere to revive edwin. She gotta be really stupid to not use the sword of light and become the timekeeper again. It's already dumb enough if he had to go into a interview to explain something that should of been explained in-game but it's even more dumb that his explanation is countered by the game itself. It's a huge mess honestly.
@AddieB55
@AddieB55 4 жыл бұрын
@@sonicthehedge The way I interpreted in the game was not that that reality ceased to exist, but rather he no longer exists within it so that time-line is permanently fucked up and the hero just said "deuces". So it would still be entirely possible for the same failure to occur again. I've also thought about that inconsistency for Serenica having luminary powers but I'm not sure it's transitive like that. You have to remember that Mordegon also took the Luminaries power's away, only for them to reappear. So it could be only temporary just to allow her to wield the sword of light, leading her to be unable to shatter the time sphere during her failure as she no longer has the power to wield it. The only other possibility is Erdwin's sword of light broke because as seen with the time-travel scenes the first one breaks, the supreme one that the Luminary lends Serenica to break the time sphere does not and remains there.
@sonicthehedge

@@AddieB55 That makes sense aleast with the ending but it's kinda sad tbh. Like imagine they just lost both veronica and luminary on the original timeline. While it is true luminary gets his powers back, Mordegon never gets to keep the power because he "destroys" it so we never really see if mordegon would of kept the power if he didn't destroy it. Also i think the sword of light breaking was because the one that luminary/Eleven forged is weaker to the original. I mean it can't remove calamos' dark aura for one and I just assumed the original sword of light is just way more powerful and wouldn't break so easily as it blessed by Yggdrasil as a result of being stored for such a long time there.

People also seem to ignore that the keeper of time tells you EXPLICITLY that you will lose a lot when you go back. People whining about character development being abandoned don’t seem to realize that THAT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THAT SCENE. You are abandoning the friends you knew, sacrificing all that development so that you could save the world.

I partially agree because the problem is that act 3 is not just gameplay, many questions and plot holes are answered only in act 3, the story feels uncompleted in act 2. This is why everybody starts act 3.

David. Yeah. Like in Act 1 & 2, we never knew why Veronica never grows back to normal or who this Calasmos was or who was that spirit lady that helped Erik. All that was never answered until Act 3.

@@davidep.498 That’s a very fair point. However, I’d say that’s more “lore” than it is “plot”.

I tried to enjoy my post game in act 2. I tried not to go into act 3. I actually tried for several hours to stick around the Act 2 world. Then everywhere I go, all crew members would only whine about the time travel thing. They were not the same characters I loved. They were not the same characters who said they will not lose hope and move on after all they have gone through. They were not the same characters who said they will do best in this world to restore their countries and be grateful for everything unharmed. They said they will respect the Luminaries choice, but they never stop giving you that frown face until you say you will go back in time... As every other choices in this game, it is only an illusion of choice.

“Why do people seem to ignore that you don’t actually have to watch Morbius? People explicitly tell you not to watch it, so why are you all shitting on Morbius?” See how stupid that is? Just because something is optional, it doesn’t mean that it should be immune to criticism. It only means that we can choose whether we suffer through it or not. Also I think it’s pretty telling that the game itself has so little confidence in its third act that it has to specifically ask you if you want more gameplay. Yes, character development being abandoned is the entire point of that scene. It’s exactly why it’s bad. Just because the game is offering a piece of shit to me instead of force feeding it down my throat, it still doesn’t make that piece of shit turn into gold.

Honestly they should just made it so that all of the people present there were able to time travel.. Well I guess they made it to only one person, to induce player emotion and make them burdened with a heavy choice, but it ended up making the story feel lacking at the end....

I actually liked act 3 except for the final boss.....it was just bleh and I didn't care at all about it. It felt more like a filler or side story boss. I do wish they could have gotten her true age back in act 3.

I have absolutely no clue why they couldn't add re-aging veronica as an extra wish in Drustan's Trials at the very least - aside from maybe having to make new animations but surely they could have just reused the "super serena" animations from Act 2 since they are the same height and shape.

I think the game shouldn't have done the whole time travel thing. When I finished act 2 I was extremely satisfied, I loved the game so much. But now seeing a lot of the things of previous acts being undone in act 3... Man it SUCKS. Why the frick is Michele alive? I hate having to separate my party because now Serena isn't both black and white mages combined. Which in my opinion is taking the gameplay backwards. And then a lot of the story feels super rushed. Like when you discover who Mordegon was, and the oracle too. Man... I think I should stop playing it, because otherwise I think it will completely ruin the game for me.

From what I understand, for Act III, the writers went with the player lying to Michelle in Act I, which is indeed possible, I think you have to make it day time in order for that to work, nevertheless resulting in her temporary survival. (In that scene, she is given the veil, explaining her possesion of in Act III). To explain why she and Kai still seemed to somewhat recognize each other, alongside that in this branch of events, the two never met in Act I: during Act II, she essentially gets tired of waiting and heads to Lonalulu, blah-blah-blah, she offs herself. It always felt lame to me that the writers neither rewrote that part of Act III nor excluded it entirely in the event you told Michelle the truth.

Thank god I watched this video. Now I know not to waste my time with act 3. Sure, extra content, but also, it would just hurt me to see all the character development killed off like that for really no good reason. I’m going to safe myself the breakdown and just have the satisfaction of completing acts 1 and 2.

I just got to Act 3 last night and yeah I’m a bit conflicted about it. First of all I had my party at lvl 52-54 and then to see my 20+ levels I grinded just disappeared, Serena being a full black/white mage was perfect cuz she was super strong, and nullifies the whole second act. I don’t even feel like I have the same party members anymore. I want to finish act 3 but I’m fine with just leaving it at act 2

I don’t take act 3 as canon. It’s just post game content. Act 1 and act 2 are canon. They’re just trying to make you do extra stuff because the game was that good and Serena’s character development was that good. Just treat it as non dlc post game content .

Yeah. I thought that whole bring back Veronica thing was stupid. Like, I get that she was a party member, but it wasn't worth it. He's the fucking hero of the world and he's willing to leave all the survivors and his party after all that shit went down for one brat. It would've been cool if, after you killed Mordie, the tree came back and all the people came back, but that suffering had still happened and it called Calasmas back. Like all the pain and suffering and death and trauma was still there because all the bad shit had happened but it didn't have a place anymore so it woke Calasmas. Or like the sudden whiplash between life - death - life again was enough to wrench a crack in reality that allowed Calasmas back in. You could've had it start during Act 2.

Personally, I loved Act 3, though I agree with all your points. My main issue is how rushed everything feels. Granted, it's post-game so not everyone is going to play it, but still. The other issue I had is very minor but once all the Vicious and Malicious monsters start appearing, the monster bios become incredibly boring, and it removes all incentive to fight the new enemies except for experience. Great video :)

You should pitch this idea to one of those fan art companies and see if they can make these changes in a patch or something. (Not sure how it works) I would love to see the original timeline play out. Plus, Serena was fucking DOPE in Act 2. I was so bummed when she became worthless in combat in Act 3.

Awful ending for an amazing game, it is not about having a post-game, it is how it happens, It's about erasing the amazing character development that Sylvando, Erik, Rab and - most importantly - SERENA (she actually says she can't let him do that because it would be a betrayal to her and veronica's pledge) have gone throug the best Act of the game in my humble opinion. At the very least there could be two routes: one for the Yes (Blue Pill) and one for the No (Red Pill) lol.

I’m confused about going back, when hero goes back what happens to his normal world they can’t go with him so it seems like he’s just going back in time and the future he’s in threw act 1&2 just disappeared it never happened is what I was thinking but ppl say he goes back in time and his world got no hero anymore the sister is still dead the world is still hurt he’s in another world technically if so why go back and shouldn’t there be two heros then? That’s why I was like it can’t be right then it must be the same world he just goes back in time so his world still got a hero eveything is ok but he loses all the friends and memory’s and it should start back at the time I meet Erik and meet my friends do things I couldn’t do before and new things BUT eventually all my team get there memory’s back maybe when we go to the tree in the sky idk bc serena became a women not a little kid anymore me and Erik is bffs and it’s not the same anymore Veronica becomes nicer the circus guy becomes a good friend the bad guy who leaves the king to help us or whatever his story line was good to trash I wish we got to keep the memory’s bc it seems like another planet not just going back in time bc they seem like completely different people it just makes no sense why do all that work in the game the company putting in all these details just to take it away why not leave act 3 out never put it in AND make the sister not die make it look like she did and at the end we find her so that way the sister still turns into a women not a young girl attitude she still stays as her new self with her new boss mode attitude, I really like Eric I hate how the friendship is not the same none of it is they should have different ending if they wanted do it this way make 3 keep game as is for ppl who want go back in time and if u want the ending where I find her alive at the end like I suggested u have do something different in the game for it to happen and 3rd keep act 2 aaa the ending for when she dies thoes 3 should be the ending for ppl who like certin stuff bc my thoughts is they didn’t need make act 3 just make act two little longer and find the sister alive and back to her old self her regular age and looks idk if we ever seen her grown or not but it’s what I think should of happened and saved this huge mess of a ending

NGL only reason I resurrected Veronica in act 3 is because she’s the best whip user and I love how deranged she sounds when using Lashings of Love LOL. Also Timewyrm and Secret Harma Trial being gated to Act 3 is annoying as hell, cause otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Act 2 ends perfectly, Act 3 is just a rushed cop out in so many ways. The one good thing about Act 3 is I really enjoyed Hendrik’s battle with ghost jasper and their reconciliation in heliodor castle. I felt like it was an organic continuation of their act 2 confrontation, rather than a substitute. Plus I care more about Hendriks relationship with Jasper than I do about Hendriks relationship to the Luminary.
