"We're not done growing just because we're grown ups" That was a lightbulb moment for me. I knew that was true subconsciously, but I never articulated it. I've never heard anyone discuss this aspect of adult ballet before. It is very much a lifestyle for me. I sacrifice time and money to do it and shape my social life around it (I can't meet at such and such a time. . . I have dance). I'm blessed as an adult to have access to studio classes Mon-Fri and I take all of them almost every week (only illness or work emergency prevents me going). For me, this is most definitely a life style.

People see ballet as a thing kids do, partly the large community's fault. But overall it is a style of dance. No one would ask this question if you took up pretty much any other dance form. Doubt many folks who do salsa or hip hop need justification for their choices.
