Why Aizen Doesn't Have A Bankai

My old theory was that Aizen doesn't use his bankai. His shikai essentially lets other people perceive a false reality. Then perhaps his bankai lets him turn his thoughts into reality. A bankai like that can be a double edged sword because he can create things that could negatively impact him. For example he can create a massive explosion to kill an enemy, but he might also get caught up in the explosion. Would be better to manipulate the enemy's mind and cut them down.

Remember.. Shikai is the side that the person willing to share to the world. But bankai is the truest side we hide from the world. So if Aizen shikai is about an illusion because that was how he show to the world, then his bankai can be entirely different thing.. Cause we NEVER understand who Aizen is.

@@Far-Reez Well we at least know what Aizen wanted to do. He wanted to force his ideals onto the universe, and attain ultimate power, probably to rule the universe, or at least be free from any universal restraints. Sounds like his bankai should be the power to make his thoughts reality.

Shame that he does. I always like the theory that he lied about having one. Aizen also never struck me as the kind of character to actively want to communicate with his blade to achieve Bankai.

Not really. It's all symbolism. Shikai represents shallow understanding of self. Bankai represents true self. People who are not honest with their true self and put fake personality has contrast bankai. Example would be Unohana. Shikai heals, bankai kills. Aizen is a very complex character and he is never honest or show his true feelings. Like what Ichigo said, he is a very lonely person deep down. Aizen who only put illusions personality will never show his true self I.e. Bankai.

My headcannon for Aizen's bankai is that it allows him to put himself under perfect illusion. While that might seem useless, and indeed it is in battle, it would have allowed Aizen to simulate hundreds or even thounsands of different scenarios and train for them in a compressed time perception (we already know his ilusions can manipulate the perception of time from his encounter with Ywach) similar to Dangai Ichigo, allowing him to grow his power exponentially faster than any other shinigami. Thematically, it would show how self centered he is, obsessed with a world molded by him.

To become a captain you need to have bankai, so unless Aizen used his shikai to deceive the Gotei 13 to make them think they saw him use it, he should have one.

Because you can only flex one characters base form so much and than make his first "power up" (shikai) so strong. Problem is when you do, you leave a hole for the bankai that would be so giga broken that it's hard to write for...
