Mindvalley. Great approach but go deeper and you find a layer from which such thoughts emerge. Like a bubble needs water to come to the surface; the water in this case is BELIEF. ALL beliefs form the true A.I. which is " intelligence" you have been programmed with, whether from the culture, the parent or anyone else you can name. Far more virrulent than ANY virus...The belief mentality is non discriminating, so the danger ( like a predisposition to addiction) is one cause can be replaced by another...believe it or not 😎😎😎

Elizabeth Crossley-- That's all good advice, but there's more to it than that. It's not just a matter of convincing kids they are all wonderful. You must also foster a sense of EARNING the adulation you are given. There is a tendency today that the best thing is to just tell kids they are perfect in every way no matter what they do. That will prevent them from ever growing up. You must teach them that they must also work to earn respect and praise. Kids aren't dumb, they know when you're just patting them on the head in a condescending way.

Jovana K-- You misunderstood what I said. I didn't say love had to be earned, I said that praise for doing a good job at something should be earned. You can't just tell children everything they do is wonderful no matter what and expect them to grow into responsible adults. They need to learn a sense of accomplishment that comes from their own hard work. The love doesn't stop just because you encourage kids to excel on their own without the phony, unearned praise.
@nancyinthegarden31606 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Crossley You are so correct Most of us do have children so casually like it’s expected of us I wish more people would think about if they truly don’t want children and then not have them We all are not stamped out of a mold I was not wanted but I give my life to children because I love the fact that I have a hand in allowing them to be I have a hand in protecting them from others that could care less and can make them feel wanted I can set them free with my encouraging words But most parents aren’t real and have this kooky idea that they have to be perfect and wouldn’t imagine saying I’m sorry to these little people that look to us for their inspiration to become their best I’ve failed but I told my sons I’m sorry and why I flipped out Talk with your children about what you think you know It’s your truth not everyone else’s truth They need all you can give them The communication is so important and will keep the doors open when life becomes too much for them They will search for you My son is I. California at this moment I don’t hear from him daily when he’s at home in his own apt but when he took off He txted me I suppose he needed to let me know he was taking off in case he was not coming home So you see the bond never breaks and I’m still his rock to touch base when he’s fearful as most are when that get on a plane with the idea of what if I had a hard time letting go but I have and it feels good to move on with my life That was another chapter completed My sons are grown

Chee C, yes, so did I but I found self-love meditation which helps so much. If the childhood was bad we often suffer from a lack of self-love and acceptance. This goes hand in hand with our perfectionism which makes us feel even more guilty and full of shame. My favourite phrase written on my mirror says: "I love myself and I forgive myself all my mistakes".

This left me drown in tears... I've fought with depression for many years due to the fact that my father abandoned me and that many times I was rejected in school by my classmates. All my girlfriends dumped me because I had depressive thoughts about myself and I acted like a teenager instead of a full grown man. The last break up has been the worst one of all, because she told me that I was noe enough for her and she has no future staying with me. This made me feel like shit, like I had no worth at all and that it all was my fault. And I've been beating myself up all this past days due to the guilt feeling and that I can't stop loving her. But it's time to accept it, to know that I deserve to be loved, that I deserve to love the wonderful man I am because I am worthy, and that I can be with any woman I want, because I AM ENOUGH for me, and for anyone else.

This video is about two years old as I write this. I read some of the comments by viewers and so many of you have missed the point. Marisa isn't saying to tell kids or anybody that they are perfect. Kids and adults in our lives want to know one thing. We love them unconditionally. That's what she means when she says "you're enough". You have to let kids know that they are not perfect and that everything they do is not right. They have to know that they have to take responsibility for their actions but you will always love them no matter what. Then they have respect for you. They are loved no matter what. They are enough. Even though they make mistakes. They are still loved. That's all we all want. I am enough and I am love. And I can love myself. Because I am enough!!! Peace be with you!!!

I was raised to know I'm enough. But what's key is the deeper understanding that everyone is enough. Thinking I'm enough doesn't make sense to me without "everyone is enough." I treat people knowing they are enough because I know to my core that I am - that we all are.
@user-ee5om8wy7u6 жыл бұрын
This is what we want to hear all our life from our parents - "you are enough, son/daughter." But we never hear until we become obcessed with proving our worth and earning our acceptance and get depressed as we never can reach that goal. We need to realize that we have to say it to ourselves and not wait for anyone to tell it to us. And then we can understand that we can accept ourselves with no need for approval from someone else because why do we need someone else if our Self(ME) is ENOUGH already?

Thank you for sharing this. The real power of working with people like this, is not really the affirmations or any "fake it,´till you make it"-approach. It is in the meeting with another human being, that looks at you and can honestly say "there is nothing wrong with you, you are 100% OK and enough". People can feel the truth of that within them, it is not just a new more useful belief. It simply resonates at a very deep level as being true. We can suffer all kinds of horrible thoughts/feelings, but that is not what we are. The negative thoughts , feelings and beliefs are just like dark clouds in the mind, but when we see (feel) that we are not those, but instead the clear blue sky behind, it is obvious that we are enough and not broken. And it is not a personal thing, it is simply a human thing - that is what is so powerful about working with people in this way (just my experience :).

I think it's sad that quite often they way you've been unfairly treated as a child is then the way you go on treat your children. We all need to feel happy with who we are, and value ourselves as this forms the basis of every relationship you will have in your life, work, family, partners. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses, and comparing yourself to someone else, you actually might have something in you that they don't have. Everyone deserves to be loved, and parents sometimes make mistakes. But loving and valuing yourself are the keys to contentment and happiness 😄

Im not sure if affirmations work sometimes I think NOOO but I didnt spend a great amount of time to atest that but I know what truly changes your mind it's turning the belief from true to a lie.For example you think the world onlt sucks then you start to find evidences that prove you are wrong.Once vour mind stop beliving you see change.Its like if you have a belief that you only gonna be happy if you are rich then you find evidence that a lot of people have money and aint happy at all therefore your brain stop the madness around money.It works for pretty much anything but it's hard with our beliefs about ourselves cuz we reinforced that belief so much that it seems to be a feeling..a part of us that cannot be changed.Like I wrote a story about myself that I was a girl that didnt fit in now I need to rewrite this story and show to my belief that this was only a distortion Ive made when I was young.

What story your wrote for yourself?Which lies you told to yourself when you were a kid?Which lies someone told vou "you are dumb" "you are weird" that you accepted and wrote on the story vou tell about yourself?I think the problem of not knowing ourselves is that people tell us what we are (dumb/weird/stupid) and we believe them and that twisted ideas becomes our self-image When you know who you are though you can ask yourself: "it's that true"? and you discard if its a lie before it enters vou mind and becomes a belief.They say that it's not the offense that bothers us but the part of our mind that agrees with that offense.

I agree that those who work at acquiring a set of tools and who practice ways to use them will respond more effectively to the challenges faced over their lives. This is compared to those who use an affirmative mantra in a way that prevents learning enough different tools and techniques to adapt to new challenges. Also there are people who work at building some sort of overarching model/framework/philosophy with guiding principals but also a responsive feedback loop to integrate new info that drives improvements to the model. Imo, people who actively work at doing that will live their lives in a more fulfilling way than if they do not.

A sobbing cry just rose from deep within, it's been there my whole life, and I've covered it with over optimism and "pull your socks up", while always seeking for that item of pure luxury (well, luxury to me) that will make me complete, be like others', be normal. I buy, i have one aim for that "thing" i need to buy next, i hoard, i fear being without, but the emptiness never goes away. I perform, i dread, i hate performing, but i was the source of so many people's anger for being born. They've blamed me, and i tried to make then happy, but it was impossible. Nothing i did was ever enough. I was never enough! Never enough!! I tried so hard. I gave up my happiness because it was my fault. I deserved their anger. I ruined everything. I'm alone now. I stay away even more than before, when i knew i wasn't wanted at family occasions, so worked harder to have an excuse, and worked even harder to keep me from going home to the constant abuses of many kinds. Working hard was my worth. And taking their anger and blame. They never stop wanting me to pay. They lured me there for one thing, to abuse me together every way they could. Small ways, big ways, any way. It's ruled my life, so i stay away now. They are entitled to abuse me. They even said it. They believe it. They try to get me back sometimes, so they can continue their anger. I know, because i went back for a short moment many times, but they soon started after luring me back to the place they need me to be. I like alone. It's easier. People don't understand. No one knows how much i need it. I see the hoarding and get rid of it to charities every so often, only to start again after telling myself not to ever do it again. New things never used, enjoyed or touched. A waste of money, and i know they are not what i would choose to buy. I've tried to find help sometimes, but I'm always told others' have far worse. I already know that, though. Or say i am not normal and have to take meds for mental illness, while telling me i am highly intellegent and have a profound understanding of the situation and how family are. Yet, they, the "experts" don't understand, and clearly medicate for an easy cop-out and their ego or limitations. I hated taking up their time. The feeling of loss never leaves me. I like soft lullabies and the simplicity of baby songs and programmes playing in the background. But i know now. You said the words. How do i stop a lifetime of being what i never truly was? Six decades. Just to know is maybe all i need. Thank you for saying I, and everyone, is enough, Marisa. It feels wierd. I've just subscribed.

⛔ Mindset really is everything 🔴⚫‼. In times of struggle, or just in life in general, we are faced with two choices: let life consume you, or consume your life. This may sound like an odd statement at first, so I will break it down for you in simpler terms. Imagine that you are on a tropical vacation holiday, and the weather just isn't going the way you planned on it going. Instead of being sunny and beautiful beach weather, it is raining the whole trip. While this may be a not so great situation, you have two choices: you can either stay in your hotel room and complain about the weather all day, or you can go the beach and explore what the place has to offer, despite the rain. After all, your family paid all this money to go away, and you took a whole flight to get here, right? 🦁👏🏾 From Paul 👊🏾💪🏾👍🏾

I love the last bit. I'm getting so annoyed when asked "how does that make you feel?" Obviously, I am feeling sad, frustrated, upset etc. I don't feel like I need to define it, it doesn't help me in any way. I need someone to get to the root of my problem and offer me solutions. Thanks for calling that out. I'm going to do this. I'm going to tell myself I am enough :)

oh wow! When she says that the psychiatrist told her it was so depressing because he had worked with the girl for 4 years and got nowhere and then Marisa worked with her for a short time and the girl recovered it so resonated with me. I've worked in the mental health field for years and I've always questioned a process that keeps patients trapped in a loop. After many years it seemed to me that the whole system was a just a cash cow for the mental health field and the pharmaceutical companies.

Of course it is. They take over where you were left, with no real intentions to heal you, otherwise who is going to pay their bills? Biggest scam is this: If you accept you have a mental disorder, continually routinely question yourself over and over, reinforce those thoughts by taking “medicine” for it and see a doctor regularly who also believes with you that your are mentally deficient, how the fuck WOULD you ever heal from it? You will never ever get better, because the idea is (and with diagnosis it’s set in legit stone now) always always always implanted in your mind and will continually be a source of self doubt. You’ll then be fodder to just be content and settle for “management”, when the jokes on you because that’s all ANYONE does in life, with life problems. - manages them. And we all have them and we all cope to manage them- why do you need a fucking label, or be stamped officially by some “doctor” to be eternally weighed down by it? Just that someone convinced you that you weren’t enough, and you’ll accept it, most likely that was what brought you there to a psych! Now, I wonder why they would do that? *sarcasm*. And why people DON’T ever actually heal from “mental illness”. ITS A BELIEF SYSTEM. Like how it’s fashion now to excuse a person’s suicide “because” they had “mental illness”- NO! They committed suicide because they felt they had no hope, because they believed (and got officially stamped by a “doctor” in society as being deficient) that there something wrong with them and they weren’t enough!. Hmmmmmm. Emporor’s New Clothes.

Jordan Simpson I am one you speak of. I think for me it's a brain disorder, I have more than I need with exceptions of a few minor things in life that don't go ones way, or like my car breaking down every now and than, but I have a mechanic and money in the bank to fix it up, so far just enough, I have two great young adult kids and a great boyfriend. I don't have friends cuz I don't want them, I have full control, but something in my head tells me to kill myself, I could walk out my door right now and do it. I figure I would go to the cematary and hang myself. I don't know why and feeling this way is my only fight I have at this moment. My angels fight the demands in my head not to often but to many times and I hope they don't let me go. To me I'm enough would just be a lie my brain thinks it's telling it self, I'm a touchy one when it comes to "lies".

Inadequecy is an important driver. As she mentioned, it makes us always want to be better. if we convince ourselves that "we are enough", then we are removing that motivation and drive. I, personally, am NOT enough. I never will be and I hope I never am. I choose to strive to be better every day, not just settle. Contentment can be a dangerous thing.

I am a peer support specialist family/youth partner in San Diego ca. I have my own dealings, lived experiences to which I remind myself throughout each day that I AM ENOUGH! I am transparent with my clients and implemented the "I am ENOUGH" technique and it is 100% effective. I help others "feel" their whole self. I work with them to "change their blueprint" because they ARE ENOUGH. I am also making a movement of education and anti-stigma by the implementation of NOT asking those who don't feel enough "what's WRONG WITH you?", instead ask "what happened TO you?" It makes a difference. I wish I had someone ask me that when my emotional turmoil began after the death of my mom and long-time sexual abuse by my step-father at age 7. (now 51) Hmmph! Thank you Marisa PEER (love your last name) for your genuine compassion in the human spirit. I'd love to meet you one day! ...and so it is!

Not antagonizing. Just asking. Wouldn't this impair the urge to improve and progress? I find satisfaction in the improvement of the quality of my work. And the improvements were possible because I myself have improved. And so I often find myself grinning every time I say "not good enough". Because it means I'm up for another round of satisfaction. I actually find the words "good enough" unsettling. Even belittling. "How's my cooking" I asked. And she replies "it's good enough". I'm not sure what I should do with that.

Just because you believe your are enough, it doesn't mean you can't be better
@jillianguilford51916 жыл бұрын
What if believing one was enough could give energy and allow the motivation to do more to be activated. The other way causes blocks and wastes energy and time doing things that are unneccessary. Because when one believes one is not enough, one keeps unconsciously to prove that it's true, instead of the cruel lie it actually is.

There are those who tie their identity to goals and challenges so when they fail--and we all fail now and then--they regard themselves as global failures. It's not a matter of practice anymore since they regard it as a personal innate flaw without remedy. "I was not meant to be artist, I guess." If you believe you are enough, you do not use failures and successes to evaluate your worth.

For all the people saying that it's not possible to say I'm enough and get better . Let me explain none of these people were healed over night that's why she had them right it everywhere in there house car phone etc. Because if you repeat something over and over and over it will be who you become which in this case would mean that they are enough . Just like if you keep telling urself I'm sick I'm really sick over and over you will actually become sick you ever heard the saying you have life and death on ur tongue it's true because if you always constantly thinking negative thoughts that is how ur life will be but if you think positive thoughts ur a much happier person I suffer with manic depression and alot more and I can't keep saying the words I need to fix my brain I know it can be done I am just looking for help on here on how to let things go how to get out of bed and force myself to do something I'm going through a really rough time right now and I have been in my bed for over 3 months I am so bad right now I'm to depressed to even get out my bed to go to my Drs appointments and I won't go into detail are I'll be here all night but I have been through a lot from childhood to now and I don't want to be this way anymore but I don't know how to fix myself because I go way further than I am enough . But everyone you are enough try to smile and stay positive I love all of y'all I can give amazing advice I have actually helped many people but the sad part is I can't help myself

Your words are so true. And for 1, I'm like you. A great motivator to others who in turn have a hard time motivating myself. Just like you, I have days that I don't want to get up out of bed or go to work or talk to anyone. I just wanna sulk. But then I remember I have a purpose. And you're right. It runs deeper than "You are enough". What I see that "Lisa Nichols" another motivational speaker did, is she said these 3 statements: "I forgive you for....." (and she did 7 diff statements-the same statements for 6 mo) "I'm proud of you that..." (and she did 7 diff statements-the same statements for 6 mo) "I commit to you that..." and she did 7 diff statements-the same statements for 6 mo) Try it and see if it works for you

I was born with 3 fingers on my right hand and 4 on my left. My dad was killed in a car accident when I was 3yrs old. I have never had self confidence. I have always been "different" As an adult I keep waiting for something to click. Like I will wake up and be and act like a normal person. But as a 50 yr old man my lack of confidence seems to have gotten worse. I can't speak my truth even though I know I must in order to grow.

As a nurse I was able to pick up extra shifts as he was a stay at home dad for 7 months. If you are willing to work, a nurse will find work anywhere. One of the biggest tricks in pop psychology or when the average person misunderstands a new psychological philosophy, is the difference between blind positivity and observation. It's the difference between a suffering, miserable person saying "I am beautiful" to themselves, and "It's okay to be ugly". Shame is abusive and toxic, it creates more of the conflict that causes the problems- this is to say, shame is the cause, not the solution. And that being said, it's okay to feel shame, it just has certain affects, and leads to different outcomes than some people (authoritarians) believe.
