Restoring the island yet seems unlikely. It'll remain a dream unless someone would find a better source of resources for the islands survival. It will remain dependent on nagasaki and would later on would just drag it down. Aside from considerable amount of money needed, the island's vulnerable location and the lack of resource to survive independently are just a few reasons why bringing back the island to its former glory would remain a pipe dream.

As a native Japanese Speaker, I feel the difference of sound is slight, and it is not important problem. Because, Alphabet cannot express sound of Japanese language definitely. "Hashima" is just a romanization of Japanese "はしま". For reference, "Hasima" is also romanization of Japanese "はしま". For most Japanese, "Hashima" and "Hasima" are almost same. What I want to say is that the content of the video picture is important, and pronunciation of proper noun is not so important topic.

No you shouldn't. Battleship Island is a propaganda heavy work of fiction. Hashima was never a POW camp, nor did it rely on conscripted labor. Hashima was a high quality high output mine with high standard accommodation and good pay. The miners could bring their families, the island had a school, miners were well paid by period standards, making it a very attractive work destination. It was a bustling community where qualified miners could earn a very good living. There were other mines that used conscripted labor, and there were cases where pows were subjected to manual labor. Not Hashima. The nature of Hashima mine being what it is (mining below sea level) it required qualified and experienced miners who knew what they were doing. They couldn't run it on conscripted labor or pows. Battleship Island is a load of hogwash.
