Why am going back to Detolf Cabinets for my 1/6 Collection

so many great new display cabinets out there, but the reason am looking to get more detolfs in the collection.

Fantastic Todd, just that wee look around gives a taste of what’s to come when you do get the chance to do your room tour, I don’t have any detolfs myself and my space is somewhat limited, I have found that floating shelves give me more real estate as it were and help me utilise as much space as I can in addition to my ikea bookshelf style units. Love the effect of the individual themed cells within the detolfs they add so much to the displays and compliment the characters so well, thanks for taking the time to do this wee update, looking forward to your next video whenever it comes👍

Now THIS is a collection! Great job coordinating, Todd. Amazing combos and a standout is the Matrix scene! The bullet riddled walls (and other details in other sets) make the whole thing work beyond most anything else I have ever seen. Not many show as much attention to scenario details as I have seen you do, so rock on, man! The Joker on the pile of money! Wow! I wish I had half the space you do. One day! My Batman and Star Wars collections need more space than detolfs seem to allow for, but man your sets look nice! Great, great job! I'll be keeping an eye on all this from now on! L

It makes me happy that there is at least one collector out there still singing the praises of detolfs because, as you say, the current trend seems to be get rid of them in favour of moducases. Well, each style of case has its pros and cons to be sure. For collectors that have a lot of a certain type of figure, for example Star Wars trooper collectors, then the big space of a moducase can allow the impressive "massed ranks" feel of display. However in those circumstances I feel that each figure gets lots in the sum of the whole, and therefore details get lost too. A detolf gives focus to a figure, draws the eye to the individual, lets you see its impressive craftmanship. For me, detolfs are by far the best way to display a figure, although I do understand that space is an issue for people with large numbers of figures. Somehow I can't shake the impression with a moducase of "Oh, they've bought a fish tank and painted it black."

It’s probably my OCD, but I have nothing but detolfs for my 1/6 figures...I like having consistency with my collection versus having 3 different shelving units. But again it’s probably my OCD.

Man! Display is excellent! Especially the Justice Mobile. Where or How do u make your dioramas for your detolfes?

Man, your man cave is awesome, Todd! Wish my stuff looked that cool. I like the detolfs for the simple reason of consistency in my display. My plan was to create simple diorama displays just like yours some day, and the detolfs just makes that job simpler to me. Its a set amount of space and dimensions to work with for every shelf, and I like that. I know what I have to work with and I don’t have to measure the space each time. They’re also easier to place in the room. If I ever want to swap around to detolfs, I can do so without having to move more than the detolfs Im looking to swap around. Another thing is that the detolfs have the same measurements, and I can easily add one more without it sticking out of line with the others. I have one other cabinet unit in my collection room, and I can’t place it any other place than in a corner without it sticking out past the detolfs. Its just a pain in my OCD ass to tell you the truth. I’ve seen plenty of other display options that I like, but they don’t fit in with all of the detolfs I have. They’re either too deep or shallow or even to short or tall, compared to the detolfs that I have the most of. My only other option is to throw out all of my display units and build something completely custom, which I’ve already been thinking about. There is a company where I live that makes display units for stores and what not, and I actually thought about looking at making something that covers all of the walls from floor to ceiling and all in glass and aluminium, but it would be freakin’ expensive. Damn cool, but expensive, and I spend way to much on figures to do that. Maybe some time in the future though, when the inflation cools down, but definitly not now.
