Soviet government of Khurschev (he of Ukrainian origin, by the way) released many of lifetime-imprisoned banderites in 1957, apparently because its okay to release from the prison anyone who got there in times of Stalin. Western countries didn't bothered rooting fascism out at all (because they seen communists as a bigger threat and also recruited many former fascist officers), Soviets abandoned it in favor of "de-stalinization" (that also parted ways of USSR and China because China always loved Stalin and still are, probably they have a point, considering all what happened from that time) to address accusations against him. This was a horrible mistake, only way to kill for good such harmful ideology is to imprison every single disciple of it, to prevent brainrot of race supremacy delusions spreading from person to person (especially to children as they most susceptible). (Instead Western governments support actual nazis while label as "nazis" anyone who oppose them, while Russian government surprisingly awakened in 2022 to the fact that nazis rule in Ukraine. Wow, actually? Why then you recognized post-Maidan government, and has trade with them for all that time while they are shelled Donbass? I'm not sure US is actually behind that "feature". The Ukranian government have been known for their kill lists for years. Independant journalists over the past 8-10 years have ended up on it, several reports from the ones living in Ukraine of violent and/or deadly visits by the neo nazis typically about a week after they have entered the list. Even CNN have reported on this years ago, I think some of the reports are still to find online.
