The US has subsidized its industries almost since it was formed and continues to do so. Tesla, for example, was reincarnated by Elon Musk with a $450 million government loan. Then there's the National Lab system, preferential tax regimes, government bailouts for autos and banks and the elephant in the room, $1.6 trillion in military spending annually which is what actually keeps companies like Boeing afloat and at the forefront of engineering. It subsidizes agriculture, particularly dairy which has been overproducing since 1945. These are just the tip of the subsidy iceberg. On aggregate, the net tax rate to the entire corporate sector is negative. In any case people like Yellen are missing the point: America doesn't get to make the rules for China or anyone else. Not to worry. Once the dollar is rejected as the reserve currency it will be in the toilet and they'll be just as competitive as anyone else.
@grandwonder58584 ай бұрын
Yep! Everything the US is accusing China of doing the US is doing it much much worse! The US subsidized its chip companies with over $200 billion just last year! So why the United Snakes cries about China like that? The US subsidized its banks, military weapon manufacturers, oil companies, auto industry, farming companies, etc every single year so why cries about China when it does 100 worse than what China does? The fact of the matter is the US actually subsidizes its companies more than any countries in the world while at the same time tries to prevent other countries from doing the same thing so that its own companies would get an unfair advantage over all other countries’ companies! That is the strategy of the U Snakes!

Yellen is delusional and does not know what she’s talking about. She doesn’t seem to know what “overcapacity” means. The dumping, non-level playing field & unfair practices narrative comes right out of the playbook the US used against Japan in throughout the 1980s to early 90s. At the time the products in contention were automobiles & semiconductors as US companies simply couldn't compete with Japanese ones particularly DRAMs. To get around tariffs and pacify US govt, Japanese car producers were forced to set up numerous factories across US paying US salary rates & using many US-made components. For DRAMs all eventually quit the business including Intel until Micron made a comeback in the late 90s. Just google, there's still plenty of news about this on the Internet. One will find the laughable accusations are hauntingly similar. They're banking on the ignorance of their people esp. the younger ones to fall for such bυll§hit & lies.

So no, the US can't be the leader in green tech and green energy. It's oil oligarchs will make sure that doesn't happen. And unlike oil, green energy producing resources are not controllable by the US regime like solar, wind and hydro power. So other countries too will take a lead in green energy producing sectors. And going by the latest data, the US till date has less than 1% of the total no. of EV charging stations in China. Mmm... that doesn't sound like taking a lead in clean energy.

Chia is doing something good for the world to enforce the implementation of green and clean energy. Plus the free market economy should be driven by consumers not by government.

I wonder how university in the world teaching engineering & economics subjects would face a lot of questions from their students on “economics of scale” = overcapacity or “production & productive engineering “ = overcapacity. Actually looking at China EV, they plan their requirements well by outsourcing raw materials and get full supplier scope of essential products at target market. They did everything right resulting in lowering production cost.

This is what Malaysia have in car tariff of 100% in the early 80's. That why Malaysia failed in their car manufacturers to Thailand & make the Malaysia citizens suffer for cost of living & crazy tariff. At last still China have to be their savior to their Proton since no companies or countries are afraid to lose money if make in Malaysia cars cannot compete & export to other countries !

When Yellen criticized the Chinese government subsidizing the EV cars and solar panels so that they can sell cheap globally. If she chooses to look at things from another angle, the Chinese government is also indirectly subsidizing the world for buying cheaper EV cars and solar panels during this period when many countries have difficulties reducing inflation rate. Wouldn't a cheaper product help to reduce inflation rate? So is Yellen trying to keep the inflation rate high for a longer period? Shouldn't she be grateful to someone who can offer her a cheaper product during this difficult time? Isn't it interesting?
