As someone that drove for Amazon for about 2.5 years, my advice would be to first of all try to consider Amazon a last option unless you're sure you want to drive for a job, then I'd suggest to drive for Amazon for about 6 months to a year, once you have that time in start looking for a better job. There's alot of driving jobs out there that may require a little experience, but will pay better and appreciate your work ethic, Amazon won't. I've found the longer you stay at Amazon the more mental and physical stress it will put on you with increased workloads, more harsh rules and demands amongst other things. It's just a stepping stone job like fast food but pays a little more.

@@hision97 mainly resi, my route usually has about 10 -20 apts, but most of the apts are mailroom, or drive up to the door, and a few business and school, bout 5 maybe 10, and no i dont run. just organize ur overflow by letters so when they pop up u can grab and go no looking, keep the packages and envelopes from ur current tote in the passenger seat, and drive up to the door on as many stops as possible, and just knock it out. i also realized u can go like 7-10mph over the limit and the camera doesnt call itspeeding so theres that too. just dont follow behind someone for over a sec or 2. idont ever get speeding or dkstractions, alsways put the van in park or turnoff before u mess with ur phone.

I'm 63 and have almost worked for two years at the same DSP. I didn't have a delivery job before either. It is very physical (have lost almost 30 pounds since I started) and stressful. For me, the stress comes from not knowing your route on a day-to-day basis, and if you deliver in a hilly area with narrow roads or lots of apartments, it takes a toll. Given all this, my attitude is to just do the damn job and don't complain, and it's worked for me. I usually have an 850 FICO score and get regular bonuses.

So it's like working more harder for free, and breaking your back more for absolutely nothing meanwhile your really working for other people's salary. I was also told by my manager who tried to discourage me if I don't do rescues,I can be written up and possibly terminated because I'm not fit to be a team player. So I take my time and work at my own pace not to be a team sucker. And those cameras on the windshield are set for one to fail even after trying to follow all regulations not to get an alert and get one anyway

I concur with what you just said! I used to work for Amazon DSP as well before I got a job in my field of study recently. If you have a decent management and good group of dispatch who are here to help, then your experience with Amazon delivery won’t be as bad, even as job sucks sometimes. I live in Texas and delivering in the heat was no joke, but luckily, we too had a reduced route as well so I was always finishing my route at like 5 or 6 ish most of the time during hot days! If you like to stay active and have a good working mindset and can think quick on your feet than it's the job for you. If you don't like physical labor, being hot, working in the rain, etc than it's not the job for you. The key is to use the job to your benefit. I see it as a challenge at times to get better and I pride myself in not being rescued so I work as safe as I can while also trying to be efficient as possible to get my route done. I only work 3 days a week, I don't have a manager breathing down my neck and I mostly deliver in nice areas and I see something new everyday so I actually enjoy the job. Their are times where it may seem like it's a lot of work but than I just think to myself where else am I going to work 3 days a week, enjoy nice scenery daily and not have to work with co workers all day? Dealing with co workers on certain jobs can be the biggest issues at times because many just come to work with a negative mindset and will try to take it out on you at times .🤣🤣

I work 2 days a week right now, with an occasional third day here and there. I’ll tell you right now, I would not want to do this if I had to do 5 days a week. I’ve been a delivery driver for 3-4weeks now, so I’m still relatively new. The hours don’t bother me, it’s the in and out of the truck 100+ times a day, being on main roads, dogs, etc. All in all, it’s not a bad part time job, $20 an hour, pto , and you’re getting paid to work out.

I have no problem working hell I’ll work 80 hours a week as long as the conditions are reasonable. I too have held a full time job since I was 17. With all due respect this guy is glossing over a key fact that Amazon farms this work out to independent companies called DSPs and the quality and overall employer integrity varies depending on your DSP. There are really good ones who show their employees basic respect and there are bad ones who want you to skip breaks and either hold it or piss in bottles and yes some of these managers are not shy about announcing that at a morning meeting before load up. Not to mention the dogs and the piss poor hands off approach the DSPs and Amazon take. These are some of the main things that jack the turnover up. Anyone who’s got any experience with delivering for a DSP knows this “company man” most likely has it fairly easy with a decent drivable delivery area. Come talk to me when your delivering in a project like apartment complex getting chased by pit bulls and your DSPs only concern is getting the packages delivered even if you are bitten. It’s not always worth the hassle.

No! You must be bored and lonely...People aren't lazy at all, people just value their lives more than people back in the day, not everyone is ok with their lives blowing by at the speed of light, you mentioned having a "good life", there is nothing good about working all day, everyday and never seeing your family, I'm confused how you think that working 65 plus hours a week is a "good Life" regardless of how much money you make and honestly, most jobs never pay you well for the work you do, so you're either a coke head who's bored out of his mind or a caffeine addict.

What the real problem is is that there is no set amount t of stops and package count if the stop count was 125 with a package amount of 240 that is at least 8.5 to 9.5 hour day with a 30min break that's a set amount that allows for a proper 30min lunch break that is mandated by law as well as two 15 min breaks. Plenty will pay you $18hr or $150 a day or so me personally I do FedEx and did my research to get the highest paying one here which is $24hr in a state like ks that’s pretty solid. They also don’t have as much bs rules like Amazon where you gotta call dispatch when you’re done or take the keys out every stop. High turnover with physical labor but I think the job is easy if you know what you’re doing and are fit. 8 to 5 haven’t been out past 5 in the span of about 8 months now and 4 days a week mon-Thursday.

There’s so many things that go wrong in this job. Every day something goes wrong. The contractors are run by kids in their 20’s and it’s trial and error. Stupid things like software errors and bad reception, along with crummy phones slow employees down to a halt. If it was unionized things would be much better. Amazon doesn’t want that and I guarantee that the deliveries will be self automated before that happens. Amazon is obsessed with their customers (to harvest your data) yet doesn’t give a crap about their employees. Or in the drivers state, not their employees.

You damn right. That’s slavery people have life’s to live family and children to see I’m not about to over exhaust myself and then have my kids wanna play and I gotta get high off like 7 cans of red bull to do so and then crash 30mins later in front of them.

You prob feel like they should pay for you’re healthcare but u won’t work an extra couple hours a week over the “standard” work week…we’ll have fun always living paycheck to paycheck..just wait a couple years..your kids won’t wanna be seen with you because they’ll think you’re a bum

You don't have to work that many hours. It depends on your DSP. Some people only work 3 days a week..

I been at this job for a year I like it the only con I have is dogs lol dog owners put your dog up or on a leash if you know they will bite because I know a guy who got fired because he defended himself from a dog biting him. Anyone disagrees with me?
