It's amazing how good Stargate is and how little anyone in control of the rights does with it. It's in my opinion, the best sci-fi series ever created with so much untapped story potential.

Oneil won't ever be back. He's too old now and very very very out of shape. I think he's lost all interest in acting and is enjoying retirement. I could see the other 3 back for sure as they adore the franchise. Probably in smaller capacity though. I could see Amanda Tapping return full time though if offered as the new General of the SGC. Shepard could be running Atlantis maybe. McKay would be head scientist. Then you'd need a brand new team of younger actors in their 20s to 40s to travel the universe and a new bad guy species. I could see Atlantis and the SGC existing in the same show if they choose to go the route of the stargate programme getting revealed to the public finally. An intergalactic enemy would be great. A threat to the milky way and pegasus. The goauld could return also as a minor villain. I'd love to see the Furlings appear as a villain species. It's been 10,000 years since they had contact with the Ancients or the Asgard. The Destiny could even be brought into the fold as key to fight them.

I love Stargate, the movie and SG-1, and I like a lot of Atlantis, but if it isn't handled by people who care about it as much as fans, if it's written and directed by people who aren't, in fact, fans, then let it die. I don't want to get excited for the return of one of my favorite shows just to watch as it is doused in gasoline and set on fire to satisfy the egos of people with little talent and big opinions as they mock us. I'm tired of studios taking a sh!t on a plate, calling it dinner, and then saying I'm the a$$hole for not gobbling it up with a smile. I'll take new ideas and stories rather than jaded attempts to cash in on the built-in audience nostalgia money printer.

For those who do not know, the different levels of Canadian government gave the SG series many million bucks in tax breaks and rebates. I worked for the BCMP for the first 5 years of those contracts. The contract are interesting when it comes to the conditions of the tax breaks and rebates the franchise received. Part of the demands from the US government is that all NEW SERIES that start filming AFTER the sale need to be filmed in in the states or Amazon would have faced hearings over the sale. There is a lot of stuff out of producers hands here

One thing is for sure. Daniel Jackson needs to be there since he has the most knowledge of the Ancients. It would be nice to have the teams together like Cam,Teal'c, Sam, Daniel, and Vala. @@3xceIIent was more about the non stationary aspect. I liked (even though Atlantis moved a couple of times) the home vibe. The ship never felt like it had life to me. It was a cold reflection of the space they were drifting in. Maybe if they had bits of them making it more like home, (I may not remember if they did) it could have given life there. I usually have multiple seasons to judge, but I caught up to SGU and it got canceled. So no resolutions to those early episode issues for my end.

They have shown almost zero regard for what fans want and would most likely change all the things that made the other shows great. Rings of Power will most likely fail because it mess too much with the original idea/lore. If in the Stargate world someone discover new type of stargate device - fans will be like - oh sweeet!!! So simple answer why they will have hard time messing with the show - because Stargate have no canon as Tolkien's 70 year old books and thousand of pages lore. Stargate was always just a TV show - the films compliment the TV shows not the opposite. The Stargate plot for every episode is basically - go on NEW interesting sci-fi adventure. If they just make it interesting - nothing other will mater.

They are going bad job with Rings of Power - because nothing on that show is on the canon. But what could possibly be done to Stargate??? Stargate have no 70 year old books as canon with thousand of pages lore. Stargate was always more of a TV show than a film too - the films compliment the TV shows not the opposite. All they have to do is to come up with NEW interesting sci-fi adventures. Worst that can happen is for the fans to once again start complain because of a single teen character - as it happen in SG Universe. The show was pretty good, but basically got discontinued because there was a single moody and bad on purpose teen character. Very clever fan base, very clever.

Would love to see a new series that incorporates various old content that was never explored. So many minor races and cultures that we see in one or two episodes of SG1 and we never hear from them again! What if the Aschen have been quietly expanding their control and start to become a problem?, what happened with the Nox during the Ori invasion? Or the Reetou? Or the Una's? Or the Oannes? Or the Gadmeer?? So many interesting cultures and races they introduced that they could re-explore to give more depth to the existing galaxy

Most of those species/races I don't really care much about, but expanding on the Aschen... yeah, that could have been really interesting. Maybe they manage to swipe some additional tech and even symbiote benefits from the Go'a'uld? I would also be up for more Asgard. And more ascended beings of different origins -- I can't imagine the Ancients and the Ori are the only ones. But I'd really love to see Universe picked up again-- super different, but interesting.

Like Carter probably would have been considered a woke character in the 90s climate especially with that reproductive organs on the inside not the outside quote and stuff lol. I also think there's an over reliance on technology with modern stuff, the cgi just looks like a game trailer rather than passable - passable was mostly fine for me. But yeah, because of all this there seems to be very little focus on memorable characters. Orville seems to have got the characters down a lot better though somehow, they are much more memorable and I can say their names. Can't really say the same for any of the 3x trek series..

I love Stargate, I watched the whole show from end to end at least 2 times, from original broadcast to digital media. I'm 57 now. I have the 1st season on VHS and the rest on DVD. It is a prized possession for sure. Feeling like it's time to start from the beginning again. Will be like visiting an old friend

The biggest issue with Amazon is that people think it's one big company with central management, but in reality it's group of smaller companies that essentially handle specific regions and media. We can see the same issue with Disney+Hulu+Fox when some Hulu series are broadcast on Fox channels internationally but are not available on Disney+ for streaming in same country. Amazon does license content to other companies for regions that they have no own subsidiary. A lot of CBS series should be on Amazon Prime Video, but are sublicensed through for example Paramount+ -- and available for streaming on Ruutu+ in Finland -- in Nordic countries even though there is Prime Video as a product for Nordic countries. Nordic countries currently are managed by Amazon UK, but CBS is under Amazon US, which introduces licensing problems. CBS All Access doesn't exist outside USA.

Why no new Stargate yet? 1) Amazon is blowing nearly 1 BILLION on doing Ring of Power series. So, they don't want to dump a ton of money into a new project just yet. 2) Amazon will NOT want to drop money on "copyright issues" with the movie, SG1, SG-Atlantis AND SG-Universe. So they are going to want to trim a ton of stuff down, or cut it out completely. 3) They know that they can't go "woke" with the show or else face a massive backlash, so they have to tone down the pushing of agendas and narratives that will completely destroy all support for a new SG project before it even starts.

I think Hollywood and streaming services are ruining our entertainment shows, and a fail by rings of power could hurt more than we know, stargate done right could mitigate any damage that bad showing could do or stargate done badly could be the down fall of last of the holdouts for good entertainment. I would consider a prime subscription for stargate even for the old stuff , but a new show could definitely bring me in, done badly , without respect, would drive me away, life long sci fy fan here and I have gotten to the point where I just don’t watch much of anything anymore, I miss it , but this plan that these studios have done with their properties is driven me almost completely away. Stargate may just be my last hope for good storytelling and without that… this form of media is probably lost me. I really don’t look forward to any shows or movies anymore, may still watch but only as a passing interest not as a fan any longer.

Amazon needs to think carefully, on how they'll bring back SG. It's 2022. The environment is different. The technology is different. Our favorite actors are old. And previous attempts to do a SG, such as SGU, didn't exactly succeed. A lot of water has passed under the bridge, after Atlantis. Humans have their own starships, and a power in the galaxy. They have fought off a number of aliens, saved earth, a number of times. How do you top this? What else is left to do? They can do a reboot. The ancient aliens premise is still worth exploring. First contact (circa 2022) is worth exploring. It would have to be a new cast. And it would have to be done in such a way, we haven't seen before. But successful reboots are hard to do.

One reason sticks in my mind for the lack of development of new S.Gate.... its the military settimg that, "problematic & a patriarchal " institution and given what bezos /amazon have done to LOTR.... This would probably be one of the few shows that won't be held back by Amazons self-imposed diversity & inclusion guidelines. In other shows it's showhorned in hamfistedly, fundamentally changing characters while in Stargate SG1 it's been present from the get-go. Though I honestly don't know how conducive the current year climate would be to making happy-go-lucky good guy USA-stories.

Amazon don't even seem to be able to get things right with the back catalogue, which still isn't available to stream for free on Prime as part of the membership fee (current options are to rent or buy), Maybe if they did that and saw the viewing figures that would help persuade them green light a new series to help keep and attract prime subscribers? I'm personally up for re-watching everything from episode 1 again.

As much as i would love to see Stargate return to the small screen, i feel now would not be the best time for it to return. The Stargate franchise is one of the last standing that has not been ruined by far left politics and woke activism. Considering what Amazon is doing to Lord of the Rings, i have little hope for their handling of the Stargate franchise, at least for the time being. From reports there are very, very few of these people in the armed services and few join up fearing reprisals despite the governments ok. In their own surveys LGBTQ website state only 8% of Americans consider themselves one of those letters ... 8%, thats all. So really, realistically, what are the odds one would be in the SGC?
