@Vengeful_Asura @Vengeful_Asura I mean it’s not really pushing imo, the trend has truth to it. My reasoning is that it probably just comes off as awkward place wise because they already stated that militarization of the police creates a different atmosphere and attitude, and then led into the availability of equipment lent to police.highlighting and narrating the rest of the quote would be like sort of briefly flip flopping, even though they do touch on how police view themselves/awareness at the end of the video. There's not a problem with the police having more equipment with varied degrees of enforcement so they can respond to threats more effectively. @TheSilverwolf97 Жыл бұрын
I mean gas is an effective tool to disperse a mob of people, but the problem is that it doesn't distinguish between a rioter and an innocent person, it can actually be even used against the police force itself. So yeah, not the best thing to bring to a protest which can involve innocent bystanders and even children and it leaves the zone unusable for an entire day. Gas is better suited in other scenarios like siege an illegal occupation, not on the streets in the middle of a protest. Thats why, have the gear, don't deploy it on every occasion, a hammer is not the best tool every time.

If you know that unarmed people are no danger to you you hopefully won't pull a gun. But apart from that, there needs to be reconstruction from the bottom up. People who glorify violence, have eacist tendencies or want to fulfill power fantasies should not be in that profession, swat teams should be highly trained and used only way nin the most dire of situatuions and cops in generel should only be called if there is an actual crime (not for homelessness, rowdy students, runnaway cats or mentally ill)

Here's wikipedia's TL;DR: The Sudanese Revolution was a major shift of political power in Sudan that started with street protests throughout Sudan on 19 December 2018 and continued with sustained civil disobedience for about eight months, during which the 11 April 2019 Sudanese coup d'état deposed President Omar al-Bashir after thirty years in power, 3 June Khartoum massacre took place under the leadership of the Transitional Military Council that replaced al-Bashir, and in July and August 2019 the TMC and the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance signed a Political Agreement and a Draft Constitutional Declaration legally defining a planned 39-month phase of transitional state institutions and procedures to return Sudan to a civilian democracy. They use the terms "assault weapon," "automatic weapon," and "military weapons" interchangeably, and then apply those terms to both the M-16 and the AR-15. An AR-15 is NOT an assault rifle like the M-16. It is not a military weapon. It is a semi-automatic rifle (just like most hand guns are semi-automatic). It does not have select fire capabilities, and has a fixed magazine instead of a detachable box magazine. "AR" in the term "AR-15" stands for ArmaLite NOT assault rifle.

There's a difference between riot gear (wich all officers in large cities should have) and tactical gear. In most cases tactical gear is reserved for SWAT teams.
@Hersatz4 жыл бұрын
If a society is taken to the point of riot, police shouldn't be allowed to protect the government from its citizens. Riots come from deep and unresolved issue. A society doesn't start to destroy parts of itself for the sake of it. It put it at risk as much as it does the government. But it's the only weapon it has against something that is otherwise far too strong to beat. Police shouldn't be allowed to help the government to repress such cries for change. I strongly believe that it should even be a fellony to willingly accept to do so.

Erzats Erz how can you look at it like that? I’m just confused? Riots come from when people are mad. Not “deep and unresolved issues”. People destroy society for many reasons. But this time it’s for things like a TV or something or even nothing at all. Police aren’t just helping the government, which at the moment they should be doing so, they’re protecting people, businesses, VETERANS MEMORIALS, etc. In plus what exactly are they “repressing”? These “cries for change” don’t make any sense. I think they should stop using tear gas, rubber bullets, etc and start using real bullets.
