In Uganda the arrival of the Luo in Bunyoro Kitara was dramatic .The Bachwezi had previously invaded and occupied Bunyoro Kitara and were subdued by the Luo through conquest . The Luo had skilled warriors in their southward movement and are among the few groups in the continent presently spread out in at least 9 territories . The others include the Fulani through their nomadic lifestyle in Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger . The Somali in Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia . The Waswahili in Kenya, Somalia, Tanganyika ,Zanzibar, Mozambique, Malagasy/Madagascar, Lamu, Pemba, Pate . Also the Shona and Zulu to some extent in Southern Africa territories . Historically the Luo and Zulu had skilled warriors that led their settlements .

The Luo-Babito assumed Kingship and rulership of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom after the Bachwezi fled and had almost a 500 year legacy that also provided rulerships for the Baganda . The Luo-Babito Kingdom is a case study for major history departments on Black/African history including Oxford where Okot P’Bitek Ugandan Luo-Acholi Lawyer and Poet wrote his dissertations on the assimilation of the Langi into Luo .

The Luo initiated the Abakama Kings adopting local bantu dialects to effect their rulership.This lasted 18 generations . After the death of Omukama Tito Owinyi in 1971 the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom as ruled by the Luo ended following its 1967 dissolution by the Uganda government . The Luo Babito Kingdom that controlled Bunyoro Kitara for almost 5 centuries was led by the Luo-Jo Bito clan. The Jo-Bito come from the Bito tree.This group had moved from Bukidi in Northern Uganda originally occupying Tekidi in Agora mountains .

The success of the Luo-Babito Kingdom was replicated in Buganda and US President Roosevelt would soon visit in 1910 and was stunned at the level of organization that he found in Buganda taking the same principles to influence US democracy .

We are good women but we are not perfect. We also prefer men who are considerate and very very family oriented. This jumping around baby mama problems, we really do not like them. We would prefer to have a family man.

In America the women choose the kind of guys that do that. From what I see between Uganda and Kenya yall will be treated way better. Trust, there is a difference and every man wants to be exactly how yall want. Oddly Black American men have not largely dated women from there so the women believe the stories. The women over there are very lovely they don't appeal to a Man's bad side. He's forced to be good because the women where you from are oriented in a way that only attracts love. A man can love yall and not be punished but in America if they find out you care about them they take advantage. Huge difference. Yall are lovely.

The North East and East Africa region was dominated by Nilotic, Nilo-Saharan, Nilo-Cushitic and Cushitic groups before Bantu migrations into the region from Central Africa including the Congo . Nilotic groups such as the Maasai, Luo, Dinka, Nuer, Nyamanga, Turkana, Karamoja, Toposa etc did not practice slavery and shunned slavery or resisted enslavement and some Nilotic Kingdoms in Sudan/Egypt, Ethiopia and Uganda stopped slavery .

How high is the cost of living there since you mentioned it in the beginning?
@JayFocused
@JayFocused Жыл бұрын
It's not expensive if you are coming from a Western country. But for the region it can be expensive, especially the short term housing.
@Evelynokwa
@Evelynokwa 4 ай бұрын
It really depends on where you will reside and what life you are living, it's so expensive for high end ugandans but the middle class and low class, every one lives in their reach if you are not aware of that or have people to guide you through the life here you end up spending alot

In Uganda pockets of slavery existed among the Bantu Bachwezi rulers of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and Bantu Buganda . Unlike Nomadic Nilotic cattle keepers the Bantu practice farming and therefore white slave traders see this as a premium like the rice farmers captured from Sierra Leone and Guinea for North and South Carolina rice farms hence the Gullah Geechee .

The Luo invasion of Bunyoro Kitara the 14th and 15th century effectively ended any forms of slavery or slave trade in Uganda . The Luo are diasporic(at least 20+ million Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, DRC Congo, Sudan/Lower Egypt,Ethiopia Gambella/Eritrea,Chad,Central Africa Republic) and like other Nilotic groups such as Dinka and Nuer resisted the advancement of Arab slavery in ancient and modern times .

The Luo-Babito rulers would then rule over Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom for 400 to 500 years until 1967 and later 1971 when it was stopped by the Uganda government and Idi Amin . The Luo also provided ruler-ship for the Buganda Kingdom . President Theodore Roosevelt would then Visit Buganda in 1909 and was impressed by the egalitarian and democratic social organization among the Buganda Kingdom which he presented to US Congress and UK house of commons for emulation .

Bunyoro Kitara under Luo-Babito stopped the spread of slavery into Uganda and resisted British Colonialism in Modern times . Also in South West Ethiopia the Luo-Anywaa/Anuak Kingdom resisted Arab slavery and defeated the British in 1912 in Gambella Ethiopia . In 645 AD Sudan/Lower Egypt along the Nile the Luo-Shilluk Kingdom under Reth fought the Turco-Egyptian rulers of Egypt and conducted raids on the Arab north therefore slavery did not advance southward into East Africa . The Dinka,Luo and Nuer created fierce warrior classes and these conflicts spilled over into modern times with the first Sudan civil war(1955-1971) known as Anyanya I rebellion against Arab North .

Between 1853 and 1895 King Rwabugiri fought white European slave traders therefore Slavery never entered Rwanda and Rwanda maintained its territorial borders hence a roughly ethno-state in the continent . Eritrean and Somali nationalists fought against the Italians and British in Independence war .
