Great video Bryan! so I'm going the bookkeeper route, because there is a huge need for competent bookkeepers that can give clean financials to cpa's especially in tax time. I'm currently certified in QBO advanced, looking into a clean up course too. I wouldn't mind getting my EA or Accounting degree in the future though...thanks!

Hi Bryan, What are your thoughts on WGU for accounting? Would not going into public after graduation be a “hamstring” to my career? Thank you!

TL;DR: Can't find a job, what did you do to land your first gig after college? love your channel. Hi Bryan/Bryan's community: My name Is Alfredo D. Reza I have been subscribed to your channel for a cool minute now and, love the content you dish out here. I also completely agree with you when you say that, Accounting is a very marketable discipline. However, I have graduated from University close to two and a half years ago and I have been struggling to find work within the discipline. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places, perhaps the universe simply hasn't placed the correct connections in my way yet. nonetheless I am writing this long message to see if you have any wisdom you can share with me/ anyone else that finds themselves in a similar position. At the moment, I am in good standing for the CPA exam and have been studying for the exam for a while now. However it feels rather disheartening to hear that so many CPA's will be retiring soon and yet I am struggling to find even entry level work. Sincerely, Your server at your neighborhood Applebee's Bar+Grill

Thanks for reaching out! I noticed you booked a call, thank you. here is my response for now 1) Where have you applied? 2) What type of positions are you looking for/applying for 3) What was your GPA when you graduated 4) What do you mean by "good standing for the CPA Exam", how many exams have you taken and passed? 5) How long have you been "studying"

@@BryanCarretoCPA So i Def wrote this before I scheduled a conference with you and think it would be best to chat then... TL;DR: I have applied for 'entry level' accounting positions anywhere that has a "hiring sign". GPA wasn't too bad but, not too high either. Good standing i.e. able to take the exam simply need to sign up for the exam and stop making up excuses. 1.) The majority of Applications I have sent out are for my local/municipal government however I have also applied for jobs working in the back office of my local credit union- hell even applying for teller positions feels like a mission in it of itself- I have reached out to one local CPA firm called Barret Co. CPA up here in the Pacific Northwest but, even some of the smaller firms seem to be run independently and don't give me the time of day. 2.) At this point Mr. C , ANYTHING that has "accounting" in its name. I usually apply for Payroll assistant jobs, accounting tech jobs, Billing clerk Billing assistant. I def go through phases of applying and interviewing but, I will say getting all dressed up and interviewing only to be told, "We have decided to move fwd with someone else is SOOOO disheartening. 3.) .... Next question! (It wasn't bad but low enough that I would feel embarrassed talking about it here. I will definitely say that online learning made school much harder than I had anticipated and my grades and GPA definitely reflected that while I was finishing up my undergraduate. Although I will say, I have never been asked for my grades or GPA when applying for a job; is it common for firms to really care about them? 4.) Good standing, Osea.....I am eligible to take the exam? I have been procrastinating taking my exam and because sometimes I feel like i am losing faith in the certification as it is. 0/4. I have started studying for the FAR exam. 5.) about 25 hours a week; give or take. I was planning on taking it back around november 16th but, kinda chickened out. I know I know. I am working on finding a balance between work and studying and being able to financially pay off debts at the moment.

Is a Bachelor's degree required to be a CPA? That's about 4 years of school...just curious.
@Danny_Azer11 күн бұрын
Yeah, a Bachelor's degree is needed to be a CPA and a certain number of classes within the accounting/business/ethics courses will be needed to register for the CPA exam. But, As Bryan mentioned in his video, with the shortage of CPA's that are to come, it is very likely that the AICPA will lower the bar of entry to be a CPA. I.e keep a look out for that in the coming months.
