Suarez's handball is one of my favorite footballing moments. It was brilliant and tragic at the same time. That said, Suarez did not cheat---he simply used the rules of the game to his advantage, and in an unlikely turn of events, it worked out for him. In the end, Ghana lost by missing multiple penalties, not by a handball.

Exactly. It´s not that he injured an opponet. He did something that wasn´t allowed and got properly punished, that´s it. People who hate him for this should also complain everytime a player commits a foul, since that is also forbidden by the rules.

Here in Argentina we had something against Mario Gotze for scoring against us in the 2014 final, but it was never that serious. Things got almost entirely fixed when we finally won the WC and watched Gotze and his kid rooting for Messi. Now, the "hate" against Gotze is kind of an ironic joke, like sayed "Your joke is less funny than Gotze's goal in 2014". I could easily bet that he is not worse before our eyes than our own players who lost back then and couldn't get redeemed. From unfair hate like the one Mascherano gets nowadays, to just insults between rival clubs like River fans claiming that Romero (Boca's current goalkeeper) ghosted, or Boca fans claiming that Demichelis (River's current coach) lost the mark.

Luis Suarez did a deliberate handball near the last minutes of the game against Ghana. Score was tied at the time. He got red carded and Ghana was given a penalty which they failed to convert. Later on Uruguay eventually won the game and advanced further. That's why Luis Suarez is the most hated man in Africa. There I just saved you all 7 minutes of useless back story
