Vader murdering Younglings: Forced, pained, and heartbreaking Vader murdering Separatists: Exhilarating, hilarious, satisfying It makes sense as to why Vader enjoyed murdering the Separatists. Anakin had always had a deep distaste for politicians, and the Separatists were at the top of that list. The sad thing is, if you think about it, you can see where Vader's enjoyment of the massacre came from, especially after watching the Clone Wars. Gunray, Tambor, Poggle, all had been arrested at least once during the war, and they always seemed to escape, and continue to cause problems. I can imagine how frustrating that must have been for the Jedi, frustration that Anakin felt as well. Finally, having orders, and permission, to kill them, it must have seemed like a weight had been lifted. The fact that Sidious had likely ensure their escapes each time was irrelevant. Vader was only in the moment, enjoying a victory over an enemy that had caused him so much pain in the three something years of the Clone Wars. His actions were...an understandable evil.

"Anakin might have justified the killing of younglings as an act of mercy." Actually, he didn't have to justify it. Yoda already did that earlier in the movie FOR him! When Anakin was pleading for Yoda to help him save the one he cared for, Yoda told him he should rejoice in the death of whoever he cared for, for they would become one with the force. All Anakin had to do was take Yoda's lesson to heart. I thought it was pretty ironic when Yoda told him to celebrate his wife's death, and yet when the younglings died Yoda seemed in pain from it. 86sith according to many times in Legends (several of which are in novelization of movies and some directly approved by George Lucas), it is said that once the dark side consumes you, your iris takes on a golden glow with a blood shot eye around it. It might not be directly Sith, but is directly a result of pure dark side connection. The reason why all Sith in the movies, at times of true hatred, have these "Sith eyes" is because of that. Maul in Ep. 1, Anakin and Sidious in Ep. 3, and then in 6 Sidious does too. The reason Palpatine looks so screwed up is because of dark side connection, not force lightning. The Lightning merely took away his disguise hat he used to fool the Jedi, and he took full advantage of that. This is according to the novelization, of course, and several other Legends sources. A true dark side connection alters your physical appearance.

Also, it seems that novelizations make Sith even more sadistic. Here, Anakin is gleefully killing instead of the movie where his enthusiasm was, if present, internal. I firmly believe it was a masterstroke by Palpatine. He put all his enemies and pawns in one place, made them think they were safe and that they would be rewarded for the war effort. They were rewarded by being cut down, and more so, by the very man they all had tried to kill for the past 3 years. This, as I stated, was a masterstroke by Palpatine because he gets rid of the CIS Council, his pawns, while forcing Anakin to join the dark side even more. It’s a win win for Palpatine. He’s a genius!

Not to mention he had been fighting the separatists for 3 years during the clone wars. While he may have enjoyed fighting, deep down he hated the war. It corrupted the Jedi in his eyes, he had to be away from padme, many of his friends were killed, and he sees the separatists as the ones who started it. So when he gets the chance to wipe out the people who have caused him so much suffering in his eyes, he does so with joy

Hard to reconcile this with Vader crying right afterwards though. Pure evil in the moment, sure, but he was still in there. It’s debatable at what point Anakin is truly lost (until Luke of course). I think it’s once he finds out Padme is dead.
@VaciliNikoMavich4 жыл бұрын
I remember reading that part. When I was younger, I thought it was because they tried to kill Padme -his wife- countless times, were responsible for the ruin of so many planets and deaths of potential innocents, and dragging on the horrible wars of the Clone Wars for years, that he was ANGRY, and embraced that. Slaughtering them one by one, and enjoying it thoroughly.

i'd say it's most important because even though Anakin enjoyed killing them and that is a big issue there , it also showed Anakin just who set up the entire clone war. though at that point he was far too enraged to think clearly about it . but it certainly was something he likely contemplated after the fact. It showed him palps duplicity and manipulative ways to him. In my mind while it also was the real shift in his "alignment" it was also the mission that planted the first seed of "light" in vader's eventualy return to the light. as he probably mulled over the information those councilors spewed for years.

It’s similar to how a stormtrooper killing rebels (who they perceived as terrorists) only strengthens their resolve and loyalty to the empire as opposed to slaughtering civilians which makes them doubt what their doing and desert. Would you say that’s an accurate enough analogy? It’s at least how I saw it to be

My favorite scene from Episode III, but you never see what becomes of Shu Mai, her identical aide Cat Miin and San Hill after Vader closes off the hideout. This includes seeing them anywhere on the floor afterwards. Wat Tambor was obviously filmed (3 pictures of Anakin grabbing and stabbing him exists) and you later see him on the floor near the long table. The script says Shu Mai is hiding in the meeting room with Tambor but not sure if her CGI death was made like his. The Cat Miin action figure has a pre-made slash across her chest.

You can see Shu Mai's death in the movie. Just slown down the very moment when Anakin decapitates Poggle the Lesser, you'll see Shu Mai's head falling alongside Poggle's

One thing I must refute: You say Anikin didn't have remorse over the killing of the Tuskin Raiders. Read Tatooine Ghost. There is a part in there where one of Anikin's childhood friends talks about how he said "I failed" twice, once for not being able to save his mother, the other for having fallen pray to his emotions and killing the Raiders.

7:14 No, Geet, the entire Council isn't full of living beings it's full of the most bloodthirsty war criminals the Republic never knew during the Clone Wars. You described how merciless Shumai was to her own people, you described how greedy Nute Gunray was and you explained why the other Separatist council members solidified their place as the bad guys in the Clone Wars. Isn't the whole point of Anakin's slaughter of the Separatist council not the act of killing but the sadistic pleasure experienced while killing them? That's what separated killing younglings out of a contorted sense of mercy and enjoying murdering people. Anakin let himself be consumed by passion, submerging him in the Dark Side.

Star Wars needs to be violent as hell. No kid friendly bullshit, political correctness, feminism, gender equality and everything else. Just movies made with creativity, passion, dedication, love for the franchise, careful planning, excelent actors with badass choreography. Some fans make a better job than Disney. If someone does it to perfection like the Vader fan film Disney will get jealous and sue due to some copyright shit. By the looks of it they dont like somebody else doing something with creativity.

It really is sort of disturbing how Anakin is cracking jokes like his animated series self while slaughtering those defenseless leaders. You can imagine him in the Clone WRs arresting them, or radioing Rex or Kenobi to come help. Instead hes gleefully slashing them to pieces, ending their conflict forever. All those battles and quips in the show are really different now knowing he's right on that edge

The true hatred for the CIS leaders was this: How many of Anakin's friends, fellow jedi, and soldiers had he seen killed or injured by the Seperatists? It was him finally giving in to his hatred and desire for vengeance for the many who'd suffered because of the Clone Wars. It would have felt good. He would have loved it.

You mentioned how the Sith rites involved killing someone close to them. What if the death of Padme, and not the Steps Council, was Palpatine's intended trigger for Vader's complete turning?
@flyingirish312 жыл бұрын
It’s can be explained simpler than all this. The break was when he went against his beliefs and slaughtered the younglings. The cementation was when he killed the council because instead of feeling sorrow for his break, he embraced the evil and let it seduce him further into callously killing the people he had truly hated for years. Now it felt amazing to embrace the dark side.
