Full Episode: • Empowering Young Men &...
Brookings Institution scholar and acclaimed author Richard Reeves tackles the pressing issue of young men falling behind, on a mission to uplift them without jeopardizing women's rights. In this compelling and personal conversation, Richard delves into his book, "Of Boys and Men," revealing insights on the growing education gap, the push for men in care professions, and the quest for diverse examples of "non-toxic" masculinity that differ from traditional femininity. Join us as we discuss redefining gender roles, fostering equality, and reevaluating the term "toxic masculinity" for a more inclusive future.
About Richard Reeves:
Richard Reeves is a Brookings Institution scholar and renowned author and social commentator, known for his insightful analysis of contemporary social issues, particularly those affecting boys and men in today's rapidly changing world.
Read Of Boys And Men
In Of Boys and Men Richard Reeves explores the changing dynamics between men and boys in contemporary society. The book delves into the various social, economic, and educational factors that contribute to these changes. The book is a thought-provoking examination of the challenges facing boys and men as it calls for greater understanding, support, and intervention to help them overcome these obstacles and build a more equitable and successful future.
Quotes:
“I had thought that in order to be a good feminist I needed to become less…I think that’s a part of a larger societal challenge that we need to rise together, we don’t need one sex to become less for the other to become more.”
“How do we make equality erotic?”
“I have yet to find anybody that can define non-toxic masculinity in a way that is distinct from femininity.”
“It’s incredibly early in a revolution. We’ve had half a revolution if that, in terms of gender.”

It is far too easy to blame 'the Tate effect' for the current crisis for men and boys. It far pre-dates Tate. Tate is the effect of not addressing the needs of boys and young men, of telling them they are dangerous simply for being male. The problem with that simple analysis is that your policy may be to try to stop Tate, when, in fact, you need to stop the denigration of boys and men which has led to Tate being able to rise in popularity.

I'm a 16 year old male, and I find it extremely concerning how boys my age and younger are exposed to these incorrect definitions of masculinity, that give them a gender to blame for all their problems, social media does more damage than it does good, and a whole generation is being raised of this which is very alarming. I try to be extremely wary when using any social media and try to surround myself with real friends as much as possible... Anyways enjoyed this episode and please continue what you guys are doing it can really make the difference :)

But feminists blame all their problems on men , what do you think about that ? Also there are soo many ways a woman should take the blame , like why they don't register for draft or why do they get alimony or why is women objectifying men okay ? Think about that , I think Tate exposes the people who are soo trying to act virtuous

@@elitecoder955 Men never have been supressed by women you simply hate truth. Feminists blame it on patricharchy and you should know who implemented alimony laws - surprise little baby it have been MEN IN POWER to stop having other men ruin society by impreganting women and leave them. The fact you bring Tate who's dad left him and mom raised him (now he hates women so he is unthankful his mom was more loyal to him compared to dad, just like most cases the mom is the last pillar) just so he creates scamming companies, lands in jail and has no proper marriage nor career to show up for, openly in videos admitted how he broke a woman's jaw and this is someone you hold high and you crawl really deep in Tates butt, thanks for showing everyone who reads this that what standarts you have and that your logic is so degenerated that I could't make it up. Women in Israel have to serve military and some other countries too, you're simply using your brain as decoration and you're so far away from the light I'm afraid you would even recognize it even if spoken in most simple words and facts right in front of your eyes. You simply left reality so bon voyage. Women catcalling men on the street and objectifiying them so that men are scared to walk alone to the car - uhm you really believe women are objectifiying men bc that's some fetish dream you have. Toxic masculinity doesn't exist. Masculinity makes men happy, powerful, and leads to innovation. Feminism makes women miserable and is the reason why there are a record number of women seeing psychiatrists and taking psych meds. In reality, anyone who truly listens to Tates message and NOT just clips, knows that what Tate says is true. Just because it makes women FEEL icky to be called out, doesn't make it less true. Feminism is destroying America. Women are no longer women. You waste your youth on a career, you hit 35, and wonder why no man wants you.

To your point about patriarchy being a small group of men at the top, I would call it monarchy. The English Thrown is the THE seat of power. Head of (almost) all Episcopal and Anglican churches around the world, nearly as popular as Catholicism, AND the head of state of something like 20% of the land surface area of the world AND 2.3 billion people. It is indeed a classist system.

When young boys have the question "how should I be, what should I be like?" Tate has an answer. You might not like his answer, but atleast he has an answer for them. Then instead of giving an answer, of course you guys bring it back to how women have it worse?? Do you guys honestly even care about the sake of young boys?

If you watch any of their stuff all the way through, they talk extensively about how dismantling the patriarchy will free men, too. This podcast is about inviting men in so they can heal, but that comes with being held accountable for how you treat other people. Being aware of and accountable for other people's oppression (women, in this case) doesn't mean you don't struggle. There isn't a limited amount of struggle in the world. Also, defending a man that's been arrested for sex trafficking and is a known r*pist really isn't the vibe here.

@@hannajay0101 Liz completely changed the topic to how women have it worse. It's completely pointless and random when this clip was specifically about why young men follow Tate. This podcast does not bring men in, because the demographics of this podcast is probably like 80% women. It's a picture perfect example of how progressives fail young men.

@@hannajay0101 I am not defending Tate. I am just saying, why does this podcast claim its "for" men but it just bashes men non-stop. You have to start thinking WHY young men follow Tate and not feminine progressive podcasts. It's because Tate is a rich former kickboxing guy so he's cool, and progressive men FAIL to live up to that every step of the way.

Far better than people who pretend like gender needs to be deconstructed while they go to the gym and get muscles to appear charismatic. Kinda ironic. Tate reminds men of how nature made them to be and how to honor one's ancestors by striving to be a stronger version of yourself both physically and mentally.

@@fatu1738 Tate lives like a GTA 5 character, he does not embrace traditional masculinity. Traditional masculinity is stoic, often pious. Tate is a celebrity, athlete, playboy, not stoic or pious. He may be a warrior, but his energy is that of boyhood not adult masculinity.

Andrew Tate was a professional fighter, who now has a platform. Though toxic, he's still acknowledging aspects of being masculine that are unique to the male sex. Gender Ambiguity is pushing young boys/men towards someone who, though is toxic....he has a solid foundation and viewpoint that he champions.

OJ Simpson would be an interesting case for you from law perspective since he was found not guilty and guilty both. This has nothing to do with cancel culture but simple logic how law works. I'm very aware people like you find another kitten heels kevin samuels and tates as soon they die or get cancer and die then (God removes these men yes, so think twice whom you follow). To finish our flat debate, how does your mom feel you admire someone who is no rolemodel at all?
