I have experienced a crash, where my head impacted and slide on the ground, I can say with absolute certainty that if a helmet is not rated for its purpose I will not use it. The Ruroc is snowboard helmet, and to be honest I expected Ruroc to have responded with an appropriate city/skate/mbx/e-vehicle helmet by this point.

I purchased this helmet for my 8000w scooter - I personally find it one of the most versatile option out there. The field of view is limited slightly, not not much more than a normal motorcycle helmet - the goggles I wear only in colder weather, and just wear sunglasses in warmer weather..... I actually love this helmet

I mean it’s a snow sport helmet which is why it has too much foam on the inside to keep it warm when your going down snowboarding/ skiing down cold mountains in low temperatures, but using it outside on a hot summer day it is not a good decision just saying, that’s why they made an alternative which is a motorcycle helmet or Ruroc Atlas they call it.

i crashed with my e-board last year with about 35 kmh during a transfer from offroad to concrete and felt right on my face with this helmet on (at the concrete). it saved my face, has only a big scratch and iam thrusting this helmet right now from my own experience. Will keep using DX1. To be honest, the most damage took my shoulder

I totally agree with you. I’m a motorcycle rider and visibility and peripheral vision is a must. It’s very dangerous to have your vision limited while riding an ebike at speeds over 20mph. Every second counts and you need to see to be able to react accordingly. I do love the look of these helmets but when you are riding it’s the safety that counts. I currently use a Shark Evo One 2 modular helmet that by is both DOT and ECE Certified on both the full face and in 3/4 mode when you flip the chin guard back. It also has the hidden sunglasses. It’s a very cool helmet yet it weighs 1.7 kilogram which is 3.74 lbs which is not bad but much more than the Ruroc RG1-DX which is 1 kilogram/2.2 lbs. I’d rather have the heavier helmet since it’ll definitely offer greater crash protection. I recently bought the Ruroc Berserker cause it has the look of the RG1-DX with the safety and certification of a motorcycle helmet and weighs 3.12 lbs. Yet it also has the same visibility issues as the RG1-DX and it’s also way too hot for summer comfort in my opinion. I ordered a Super73 so I wanted something different than my Shark Helmet even tho I can use it perfectly fine. So I’m returning the Berserker and getting the Ruroc Atlas 2.0 motorcycle helmet. It has a similar look to the Berserker and RG1-DX but with the flip up visor, incredible visibility and it weighs 3.3lbs which is amazing for a full sized motorcycle helmet due to its carbon fiber material. A few drawbacks is that it doesn’t have the flip up sunglasses but it comes with a clear and dark vision you can swap out in a minute. So carrying one around might be needed. Also if you are wearing the shaded one and you go into a tunnel you can just flip the visor up and you won’t get much wind drag. Also the helmet only has one open and close vent in the chin guard so I’m not sure how cool it can get but you can alway ride with the helmet visor semi open like I do on my Shark Helmet. The cool thing too is that it has the ability to install an integrated Bluetooth system in the back of the helmet. The system is not as sophisticated at the other Bluetooth in the market for helmets but it’s close. Over all as long as you get the proper visibility when riding you’ll be safer and enjoy your journey better.

I use a TSG Pass on my electric recumbent trike and it works well up to 20 degrees C. I use it mainly when the weather forecast predicts rain, strong wind and when it’s cold. Vision is outstanding and it is very light for a full-face helmet. I only wish for a fitting Bluetooth headset and a self-tinting visor.

The RG1-DX is a snowboard/ ski helmet. You can find it on their website under SNOW SPORTS. It is not nor has it ever been marketed as a skate/ bike helmet. Best thing is to get a helmet specific to the sport. I wouldn’t go snowboarding with my Arai motorbike helmet, same way I wouldn’t use the RG1-DX for longboarding. Both would get a terrible review if I did that. You’re giving people the wrong impression about Ruroc. Their product is actually really good, too bad you didn’t do any research first.

The rg1-dx is rated for EN1078 (EU cycle and skate) do your research.

@@oneangryhobbit2538 Never said it wasn’t. Due to the manner of constriction and materials used, helmets are in fact typically rated the same. If you took the time to read my comment, I specifically said “it is not nor has it ever been MARKETED as a skate/ bike helmet”.

I'm glad to see another honest review about these helmets. Even snowboarders and skiiers have mentioned it's not a great helmet. And in the motorcycle world they're not quite 'liked' either. Great marketing team though, I'll give them that. But for that price, better helmets exist.

I'm waiting on a super73 S2 and I'm not sure what helmet set up I'm gonna run yet to be honest. It's all about what my comfort level is when I get on the thing. I did order the Bern Hudson MIPS helmet to up my protection on my regular commuter bike (regularly pushing 20+mph) and I'm going to see how I feel with that on the S2. Luckily I'm a motorcyclist too, so I have a couple options in the closet there for 3/4 DOT and full face DOT + ECE helmet options if I feel I need that level of protection. I do appreciate you making up my mind to not drop 300 bucks on something that's going to be a useless middleground for the ebike world.

The Ruroc is very cool looking, but I see this as more of a Novelty helmet than one for real safety. I bought a novelty half-helmet that I thought would be adequate, but my son (who rides a Harley bobber) surprised me with an awesome DOT full-face. He was right...

@@oneangryhobbit2538 or you do yours, OR just LISTEN to the video he says IN tHE VIDEO that ruroc themselves say it was desinged as a snowboard helmet. I could also use a motorcycle helmet for skateboarding since its rated way above whats needed for a cycle helmet BUT that does NOT mean it is one.

The title feels like a scam, cause motocross helmets also require goggles, and the chin guard comes out even further, reducing even more peripheral vision. Helps to know about more than 2 helmets on planet earth if youre going to talk about "any" of them lol
