I recently germinated a mango seed here in Vegas. So far, they look like your small plants. I’m wondering what my next steps should be in a climate like Vegas. Do I keep it in my small pot for a year and then plant in ground? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Depends on what part of Vegas u live in. I live in the Paradise region near MGM and the airport where it hardly gets colder than 30 F and across town (especially the outskirts both north and west) it can be as cold as 20/25 F.

For a seedling it’s best to overwinter it for one winter indoors in a warm spot.

I got 2 mango seedling here here in las vegas. One is six months old and the other is now one year old both growing outside. The six month old tree is in the ground under an apricot tree and the one year old is in a pot.

Hi Jay, yes I'd appreciate seeing your method of seed germinating, it's very challenging here in our damp, cold UK climate. I generally germinate in damp tissue and have a reasonable success rate but the roots / seeds often rot after I transfer them to compost, looks like I've been making the mistake of planting them under the surface of the compost, as it looks like yours are on the surface of the compost. Would also like to know what type of compost mix you start the seeds on as my main problem here is root root as the pits take a LONG time to dry out in our climate, Many thanks

Looks YumYum. If you have the luxury of finding a banganapalli mango tree, these are kings of mango from where i came from AP, India. They have the biggest fruit and tastes delicious. Trying to get a big enough mango tree which can survive Sacramento winters. 🤞
