I'm lucky that I'm a trans person living in Australia (and in a relatively queer-friendly city thankfully), but I'm also so scared for fellow trans and queer people in the US, especially with what's happened in the past week. It's so horrifying how many trans lives are at risk.

This is genuinely the greatest rant I've heard on the treatment of trans people. I have never heard anybody summarise the main issues so effectively and accurately. You genuinely have a great way with words. Thank you boogerlover for highlighting the issues facing trans people so well!!

As far i can tell, it started with trying to keep social cohesion through conformity. Because people are becoming more and more individualistic with everyone doing their own thing, social cohesion is breaking down with small groups replacing one big shared identity. Because of shifting loyalties, if theres ever a major disaster and we are disunited, then our enemies can take this chance to pit us against each other and destroy us. At least thats how some people viewed it, now theres just a lot bad feelings on all sides and emotions dominate the discourse

yeah there's this fundamental fear many people have of anything that doesn't conform to social norms and constructs, anything that they don't understand. And I don't know if this is something humans have always had in them or if it's a symptom of modern society but it has to stop. It's so frustrating and scary as a queer person because it goes beyond all reason, it just feels like purely illogical and selfish hatred. This has and will continue to put people's lives at risk and worse ; - ;
