What people (Boomers, mostly) don’t realize is that the gun community has grown exponentially because of gamers. GarandThumb, Brandon Herrera, Administrative Results, etc. are some of the biggest names in the guntuber community, and they openly show their gamer roots all of the time. Glad you had fun with guns! AngryJoe did a shooting-day vlog years ago and I was hoping another gaming-centered channel would do the same. Keep up the awesome work!

definitely worth it you can find ranges that are beginner/novice friendly. Most are more than happy to safely assist you with your firearm of choice and walk through the range rules and expectations. Unfortunately, there are a handful where the range staff are complete assholes on a power trip. Those you can avoid if you pay attention to the google reviews. Always best to be upfront with the range staff and let them know you're willing to learn.

Talking about the Barret .50 Cal, I'm in the military and we have these range days where we stand in trenches and fire at targets that pop up. Sometimes we're accompanied by M2 Browning .50 Cals. Those things do not mess around, it sounds like artillery is going off around you when they lay down a barrage. Luckily I don't know what actual artillery landing around me sounds like, but .50 Cals are a lot louder in person than I bet most imagine.

4:09 The gun that Solid Snake uses, at least in MGS1, is the SOCOM. It's a H&K Mk23 pistol - basically a big chungus version of the H&K USP. I do miss going to the range to shoot, speaking as a Canadian. I have fond memories of learning shooting fundamentals from former Canadian Special Operations Regiment soldiers who had turned instructors for hobbyists and law enforcement personnel. Unfortunately, I had to stop and sell my firearms simply because the hobby is too expensive to keep indulging in, at least for me. God, I miss my Walther PPQ. I haven't tried every pistol out there, but out of the dozens I've tried out when I was still into this hobby, it was the finest handgun I'd ever shot.

Doesn't help that we pay a premium up here for just about everything firearm related. It's hard to find anything decent below $1000CAD nowadays. Doesn't help that we have the most anti-gun gov't Canada has ever had either. Still that hasn't stopped over 100,000 Canadians from putting in PAL applications this past year. There's no time like the present. Sure you can't have handguns right now, but I highly recommend you get back into it. She's a pricey hobby, but it's worth it.

Video games like Call of Duty and Battlefield are what got me interested in guns, and eventually, got me into gun collecting. Like you said in the video, being able to hold and fire these iconic weapons that you've seen and used countless times in all of these different games is such an incredible feeling. And learning the actual history behind them makes you appreciate them way more. I never thought before that an inanimate object, something that was originally made to just be a tool essentially, could have so much personality. I love that these guys host these events, and display why so many of us Americans love and fight to protect the 2nd Amendment. Because if we lose those rights here, then that's it, there's no other 1st world country we can go to to enjoy these freedoms and this hobby.

One of my favorite things about shooting various firearms is feeling the mechanisms shift inside the gun when I fire. I love the AR-15 for that reason, because I can feel the shifting in the stock.

Looks like a fun time. Good stuff. Crazy that you're blasting away with full auto machine guns and the HK Mark 23 (Solid Snake's pistol) was the first handgun you ever shot. 😂 Everything you got to touch is on my bucket list. Wild.

I always found how a simple thing like holding a weapon changed so much over time very interesting. I heard some British soldiers in the Africa Campaign during WW2 would carry their rifles like a hunter would carry their shotgun, under their arm, so they could pull the rifle up with your other hand and quickly shoulder your weapon. Or the fact that the idea of holding a pistol with two hands didn’t really become a thing until after WW2.

Watching old action movies makes you realize the slow, tactical methods of room clearing and such are also relatively new. Especially back in ww2 it was basically just "chuck a nade in and shoot anything that moves after the boom"
