Why are FLIGHT DATA RECORDER(FDR) & COCKPIT VOICE RECORDER(CVR) useful in Air Crash Investigations?

Hi. In this video we look at the two types of flight recorders in an aircraft: The Flight Data Recorder, FDR, and the Cockpit Voice Recorder, CVR, which is also called as black box.
We see what is the role of FDR and CVR in an aircraft, how they function, where they are located, why they are useful during crash investigation. We also take a look at what tests are carried out on a flight recorder in order to ensure they survive a crash on land or water.

why do they call it a black box if its orange?

black box was probably a slang in WWII to describe avionics, and the black box's color is only orange (safety orange) because it can be seen on long distances since it's flourescent properties
