@@sonaliv1489 The critical point is that the horrible governance of the corrupt politicians that ruled India and are still ruling India has made India such a bad place to do research, business, high-tech industry or highly educated work. If you are a good student in science, tech, and business, you will affect your career badly if you stay in India. I chose to research in India and visit Germany as a guest scientist; I see the funding and the easy availability of high-tech instruments and materials. Even a special kind of optical glass USA refused to sell, as some electronics, especially after the Russian war started as India didn't fall into their geostrategic allies. Many more technical equipment, chips and special materials are now classified as strategic items even if they have a remote strategic application. The lab I visit has more than 20 times (2000%) more funding than ours, even though Germany's economy (GDP) is 20-25% more than India's. Because Indian politicians are more focused on building temples and stealing money (corruption) than research, specifically scientific and technical, keeping us backwards. Scientists are working here, even if he/she is super talented, and the probability of getting a Nobel prize is much higher here than in India. Even Canada is economically (GDP) much weaker than India, spends much more money on research and do come up with more research paper published in reputed journals per capita. Even if there is a slim chance, which scientist wants to give up that?

Five of my uncles and aunts- aged 85 to 90- passed away in the last few years in Calcutta, one of the most polluted cities in the world; none of them suffered from lung problems/disease. Another uncle- still living there- is doing well at 95. One grand uncle lived to be 99. And over here in the US kids (and adults) have severe breathing problem at home, at school where everything is kept clean and pollution free. My kids growing up in US never had such breathing issues. Sorry for your mother. But too much coddling is going on. Smell the roses. And enjoy life. By the way, Jaipur in India is far less polluted than Calcutta where I came from.

I have been to Jaipur once about 20 yrs ago. It is a historical place with castles and all where so many battles were fought and romance displayed in the past (anytime you visit to any historical place you should read its history before you visit). I don't know if you noticed numerous stalls on the street selling wonderful handicraft. Anyway, I left India immediately after I graduated just to get away from home. One of the biggest reasons is that people in india are becoming more rude , arrogant and egoistic towards each other day by day. And I'm not talking about one race against another but in general. I walk out in public places and rarely meet someone genuinely nice , the possibility is almost zero atleast in my generation ( youth ). Better living not only is better environment , better infrastructure its also about good people. If you are surrounded by nice people your health , your work will automatically get better. People in india don't even feel like working because there are too many annoying people even in the work place.

All people want is as much as flats/properties, Expensive cars and other irrelevant material things with zero respect for environment so that they can show off it to their relatives, friends and neighbours. Here people don't tolerate others success and achievements and search for every opportunity to bring others down. Sad reality but true.

To be honest, this will only continue to increase. As an Indian who is currently abroad, I can understand why people are doing this after they've settled into their new nations after studies/Work/etc. There are so many reasons as to why, these are a few: 1) Good quality of life abroad: These include good work life balance, clean spaces, very manageable traffic, etc. 2) Less Corruption: The Indian bureaucracy is highly corrupt at every level and dealing with administrative tasks can be an absolute pain leading to offering bribes everywhere to get things done. 3) A better sense of respect directed towards other people as well as civil rules put in place which ensure the smooth running of society in general. 4) High Trust: People are generally honest and rely on trust to get work done. This is not something that I've seen in India. We can't trust anyone completely and fear that they may stab us in the back when the time comes. This may often lead to micro-management. 5) Equal opportunity: There is no caste/reservation system. Everyone gets equal opportunity to get what they want (no discrimination against your caste/religion/beliefs/etc). 6) Population: Because there is way less population, everything is more manageable (the lesser people you have it becomes easier to manage a nation - lesser infrastructure required, can focus on quality rather than quantity in general in all aspects) 7) Lack of Open & Clean spaces to spend time with friends/family. Being overcrowded means that there are very few green/open spaces. 8) A better focus given towards pursuing your extra curricular activities. (sports/camping/travelling/etc) In India, for most people our only choice is an engineer, doctor Or a Lawyer (I know its a stereotype but it holds true very well from a global, nation-wide perspective. We also work longer hours and can be expected very frequently to work on the weekends depending the type of job you have). This also a good Segway to say that all types of work are respected. People don't look down on you if you don't have a high flying/high paying job. Here, Work is truly Worship. 9) Healthcare: This is a big one. At least in Europe (where I am) healthcare is FREE! Social security covers everything. I don't need shell out a crap ton of money to get my health problems fixed. I Love my country and personally, I may not change my citizenship but I can understand why people are doing this.

Is it your opinion that Indians lean more towards the Liberal or Conservative party in federal politics? I have a young Indian family living next door, and they are incredibly polite and friendly people...almost too much so...I'm kinda an introvert when it comes to neighbours, and I have avoided any discussions regarding politics with them as I can be very bull headed when I discuss it, but I'm getting a conservative vibe from them. I was reading few comments. Grass is always greener on other side. I have lived in the USA for 12 years and currently in the UK for 2 years. I understand the challenges India got, but even outside India there are 100s of challenges which people living outside can relate: 1. There is constant sense of detachment once the initial few years honeymoon time is over. Initially you feel "wow this country is great, but you come back to realisation." 2. Social circle remains limited specially with family. Family events are rare. 3. Less culture and food. You try to be wanna be and get involved more with "white people" but they keep limited relationship with you. 4. You struggle with mental and emotional stress. 5. You keep working all the time non-stop. After work, you struggle with your chores. 6. You always feel of going back to India and you miss all that chaos. As I told grass is always greener on other side. It happens either if you are in India or in some western world. Edit: Few judgementals asked when I plan to come back to India. I infact did it in 2020. Left USA and moved back but got admitted to ICU during delta wave and we had 8 months old kid. Wife saw me dying in the hospital and we decided to move out again considering that wasn't the right time for us. Let's not judge others without knowing someone's condition.

Canada Healthcare system sucks too. It used to be good some decades ago. Most people go to India or consult alternative medicine-systems for health issues. No matter how much one says, you are always and forever remain a second class citizen. Cost of living is exorbitantly high. The main reason is, Indians are ready to clean western toilets, drive trucks and do other jobs. They feel proud to be an informed slave to the white people at any given time. Further more, they have no self-respect. Above all, too much population / poluution which drive many too. No worries, things are reversing & more foreign-loving-Indians will pay heavy price

Their has to be tax changes or else no people would even love to be in india.

India will miss the golden development train if Indian govt keeps putting pressure on middle working class population with ever increasing taxation and dont provide enough benefits to the people who are actually paying taxes. Looks like only 5% may be of the entire population who are shredding their hard earned money in taxes , carrying the financial burden of the development ambitions of India. Rest are either increasing the population or looking after their own benefits using politics. Taxpayers are paying taxes in two folds while income tax is deducted at source, rest whatever remains gets clawed back by anything you buy/use/avail services. Yet they have to go through poor infrastructure of cities daily for the same work, they have to entertain rubbish religious/communal politics being done by those tax payers money for vote banks instead of addressing real progressive issues constructively. If calculated properly, a working class person basically give their 3 months of salary to the govt as taxes in a financial year. That's how the nation is rolling. If this is the scenario then these migrations are bound to happen. People wants to see their hard earned money being used in good place otherwise it's better to choose an option where they can use their money on themselves. It's as simple as that .

I got my PhD from IIT Bombay in an STEM subject, then went on job hunting for three years. Private universities offered me salary bare enough for bread and butter, and with heavy burden and politics. After three years, I lived in Dharabi for six months, made enough money, and got a mediocre job offer from a Swiss Company. Living abroad is never easy, but digesting all discriminations and heavy workloads, destiny surrendered before me in four years. Now I have my own company with 50+ overseas employees. I haven't yet revoked my Indian citizenship, but do not want to go back to India. And although India will be a big economy hub by 2030, I don't think it'll care it's high qualified Individuals, like many PhD holders. It's never money, but employment. And one Indian in abroad means more than 20 of his friends and relatives are on the way.

Palki, I am one of the few who relocated to India from US in my retirement. AS a physician i had worked there for 20 plus years and i chose India as a place for my retirement because my parents and my wife's parents are living there and it was time to give back to them what they had done for us in our formative years. Of course there is no way we can pay back what our parents have done for us but to be with them in their hour of need was one important factor. For all the talk about how much India has progressed, I see little evidence of it on the streets, in public sphere. Yes, middle class has grown richer and can afford one or more cars, can get a loan to buy a house or a flat etc etc but that to me is not progress. India is a very corrupt nation where no process seems to be in place, be it traffic on the roads or getting a driving licence.Everywhere there is chaos and corruption. I got a glimpse of that corruption when I was applying for a license to a State in US and needed some documents from my Alma Mater in Delhi. The guy dealing with this was a section officer in the college and openly asked for a bribe! Indians are poor at crowd management and lack discipline. I was shocked (during my early months of coming back here)to see a motorist come on to the pedestrian walk to beat the traffic. When I pointed to him what he was doing, he pointed to me the traffic justifying his action! It is not just the political class that is corrupt. Corruption is in the blood of the Indians. Indians also lack knowledge of what ethics, morality is all about. A dermatologist in Bangalore to whom my wife went for a skin ailment gave her a medicine from her shelf and charged for it. Back in US she would lose her license but she obviously had no clue what she was doing was unethical. I can go on but i guess you get the gist. This also explains why so many Indians migrate abroad and opt to stay on. They find a place where they don't have to pay bribes, where they can give their children quality education without having to pay a hefty donation to the school, where paying tax matters because the tax is put to good use (less than 5% Indians in India pay taxes!).

And they have repeatedly explained this as cause why some countries get more prosper and some stay poor. Pouring money wont help at all, as that is not the problem. People attitudes and "they have always done this way". Of course any good country can drop on this like excellent product can become bad over time when this attitude and viewpoint slips.

India is a wonderful country but it has it's own problems. One of the biggest problem among all others is that most of politicians are little educated who are corrupt and don't see a big picture of future problems. People are lead by these in the name of other social problems. And they want people to remain uneducated. illiteracy and poverty is the evil of all other problems. One must have faith in religion as per their beliefs and it's one's choice. It should never be used as a tool. Where ever it happens this gives rise to violence. On the other hand if you look at probability of progress in India, it is not easy and the quality of life _ better not spoken. I have many Indian neighbors in my area that used to be almost exclusively caucasian. They're really good neighbors - they have good kids, they keep their property very manicured, and are friendly. Of all the Asian people's, the immigrants from India are my favorite because it seems like they make an effort to become part of the community. They don't quite feel like "Oklahomans" yet but that's ok. As long as they don't start voting to restrict my 2nd Amendment rights, they're just fine by me :) It is sad that India is losing so many of its good people though. Instead of staying to fix their own country, they're bailing. Honestly, I cannot blame them though. Edmond, Oklahoma is gorgeous & the cost of living is crazy inexpensive. My house has 3 bedrooms, a very impressive theatre room, a large office with built in shelves, a chef's kitchen & the most gorgeous view you can imagine....a pond with geese, 2 huge willow trees & a shallow strip of dense woods.....and it cost under half a million.

These are the ones who moved successfully. But if you ask randomly, I'm sure 5 out of every 10 people in India want to move to another country. Don't get me wrong, India has been on a rise but the there are very deep issues which can never be resolved due to the goverment structure - states and Centre.

I am from South India and living in Canada. Most of the people from India either from Gujarat or Punjab. Mostly we Indians are hypocrites. We want radical, regressive and useless fanatic system back in India but wants to migrate to liberal, progressive and secular countries.. same applies to people come from radical Islamic countries… Indian population is surplus and no one talk about it. 30 to 40 core population is idle for India.

India, currently the world's fifth-largest economy, is on track to surpass Japan and become the third-largest global economy, with a projected GDP of $7.3 trillion by 2030, as per the latest report from S&P Global Market Intelligence. Those who want to get rid of their passports are free to do so. The ones who stay in India will make India Great.

Americans love people from India. You bring awesome food, intelligence in the form of doctors and dentists and more, meditation, Buddhism, Hinduism, you protect the Dalai Lama, and you bring good people with proven emotional balance. Americans trust Indians. The only thing that can still improve would be your nation's disconnection to Putin and Russia. For such a sensible people, it really is disappointing that you do not politically align more closely with the world's first and greatest democracy. But Americans are patient and we know that all good things come in time. Someday there may even be professional baseball and ice hockey played in India and Americans might learn to play cricket...

Being one of the Indian who recently became a Canadian. I can say this is the best time to be an Indian outside of India. People take Indians seriously in the western world now. Top positions across the world have brown skin. That gives us a lot of soft power. We are also able to get an extra seat in the name of Diversity and Inclusion, while we enjoy a nation with developed facilities. If you may ask why we dont want to go back, the truth is India is still a 3rd world country where people lack civic sense, high pollution, inefficient government facilities even at the lowest levels and depreciating currency values. So we "NRIs" have found a sweet spot of holding a foreign passport continuing to enjoy visa free travel to 190 countries and also calling ourselves as Indians who can take part in the D&I program. If you think I sound selfish, thats the raw fact and never believe us when we say "I want to move back".

What have you done to change all that in your country where you originally belong to. Sadly the same people flock back to their country of origin when there is a crisis in their migrated country. Then every thing in India becomes so beautiful. If you are in Canada and you like the government there and their attitude towards India then nothing to say. LASTLY We are from a third world country but we are neither a second class citizen nor third class citizen here. We are the proud citizens of this country with no desire to migrate anywhere else sir.

I'm a mover in Boston and most of my clients are from India. We first move them into an apartment and a couple years later they call back to move them into their new house they bought in a nice suburb with top notch public schools. They have a good life, so they stay. Also they tell me that after living in America their kids are too soft to go back to living in India. They all have American accents in no time. The kids I mean, not the adults. Indian Americans have higher average incomes than even White Americans, because of their education.
