English has just become a global language. Which is a positive in a way. It's been awesome to talk to people all over the world. As a native english speaker ofc I'm privileged in the fact I don't need to learn another language. However its also a curse because there is no cut and dry additional language to learn. Where as other nations only need learn 1 language to enter the global conversation. I have to choose out of 100s and i cant learn 100s to have the same reach.

In India we are taught english since the first day of our kindergarten and it is a compulsory subject throughout our 14 years of school. And so we do not need to join any academy to learn it. It is not just about obsession but easy communication on global perspective. But no one should feel ashamed about not being able to learn it because it is just a language.

I mean it’s good to learn English, not just to go to America, if you go anywhere in the world someone will know English wherever you go. Even if English isn’t their national language. Look at Holland for example, their language is Dutch, but everyone there speaks English too. It’s the business language of the world, and if you want to work in Aviation you have to know English. I think it’s smart to know English, Spanish and Chinese.

English is the second official language in the Philippines. In English classes, we are trained to speak English. Math, Science and other subjects which English is being used required students to answer and explain everything in English. So we have enough time to study and train for spoken and written English. This might be the reason why most Filipinos are good in English regardless of pronunciation or diction.

It's funny because I wanna learn Korean so how about if you could teach me Korean I'll teach you English? 😁 and I like that last line that she said being obsessed with something isn't always bad because alot of Korean's lives in Korea seem to be rooted in some kind of U.S. influence or Western culture and I really think Koreans are just over all cool I mean even my Korean American friends here are as well so I gotta say Koreans you people are great 😊👍

Incredible video. Thank you for covering the history of this English craze in Korea. It is important to know English because it is the language of business and for getting a good job in Korea. Because of the Korean wave, interest in learning Korean (Hangeul) is also increasing! I am currently learning Korean for the U.S Department of Defense

Filipinos are easy adopted learner of languages and cultures internationally. We are multi-lingual or mixing words of other languages in one sentence. Filipinos are living, married a foreigner or working abroad in 200 plus nations, 6 continents and territories that's why we are called the most adoptable people in the planet. We are own English language subjects in our schools, colleges and universities. Here in the Philippines mostly used English in writing or words on tv, radio, government documents, works, menu lists, signages, subjects (English, Math, Science, Physical Education, Music and Arts, History, other related courses), entertainment and music industries, newspapers and others.

when you learn, you should also be able to enjoy what you're learning about. I think that's what's missing when they are too pressured to learn the language. You can either use some vocabulary or phrases to use everyday until you get used to it that you don't even need to memorize it. Statements like "I am going to the toilet" or "I am going to the university" . Phrases like these actually help a lot in learning the language especially if you use it everyday.

Koreans can learn english in their own country without going to other countries, their Ministry Of Education just need to force them to teach this subject from the earliest education level. Look how Philippines and India are doing it.

English isnt the 'be all end all' and it should never be used as a way to determine someone's intelligence. I speak english, but my grandmother doesnt and she used to get ridiculed by people in western countries. Eventhough she doesnt speak english, she is much wiser and smarter than me. English is important but so is your native tongue and you should never be ashamed of speaking your own language.

I'm interested in learning other languages as well so maybe if someone is interested we can become penpals and swap languages.

When I look At other countries who struggle with English it seems like there’s not much for them in their country. South Korea seems to be the exception to this rule! Good for them, who doesn’t love Koreans🤷🏾‍♂️

In India, learning & speaking English is not obsession. But it's a necessity. Our whole education system is in English. All our subject books are in English (except other languages). Its such a multi-lingual country..so English act as a barrier between whole nation. India is the second most English speaking country in the world, despite it being a foreign language. Indians are mostly multilingual due to this reason. But I don't think anyone should be obsessed of learning it. You can still be intelligent without knowing it. Its other thing that English makes it easier for everyone to communicate & interact globally.

As an English lady. My early languages were Latin- A.Greek and French. For the Classics, Literature. The first two were essential . Studies in France later French was useful. Today I regret not having learnt more. As I had the Possibility to live and learn in a new Country during 4 year's 1 year in each . I did not. Choosing Art in Paris instead. So young people be as Prolific in as many languages as you can. Enrich your Lives.
